I think so too. I wonder what stat could be buffed at the expense of others though? Maybe increased weight to carry more water at the expense of melee damage. Or this may make more sense, increased torpor to help keep the Desert Gryphons from passing out in the scorching desert sun at the expense of lower melee damage or lower health. Maybe someone else will have a good idea for balancing a Desert Gryphon?
I mean, how cool would that be to have these majestic horses just prancing with their wingless cousins? Or wandering the great plateuxs?
I'm going to shoot in my ideas for the potential desert gryphons species since it's something I really would love to see becoming a reality ahah. (I play very often on SE x'D) Only going to add into the stats buff / nerf discussion since the other ideas I had (Arctic help resist to cold, desert to heat). Going to compare everything to the real world tho, so that my explanations make sense x'D
In my opinion, making them have a buff in weight and food would be logical, since in deserts, food is usually rare. By increasing the weight, they would be able to carry more water, like you said. I think that they could even be slightly smaller than regular sized Gryphons, due to the lack of food and water supplies, their bodies could handle the conditions better with a smaller size. If it is possible to change the temperament of the gryphons, I think that making them defensive could be logical, since due to the heat, usually, animals are less likely to waste their energy on something that isn't a threat to them. Just remembered that I was supposed to be talking about the stats here. WOOPS. BACK TO THE SUBJECT, SORRY ABOUT THAT. Giving them a lower health and attack would make a lot of sense ! (At least imo ahah) If we continue on the path of rare food and water supplies, even if their bodies are adapted to such conditions, they will most likely be weaker. As I was writing, I got the idea for their emplacement : the dunes ! (Aka the things surrounding the map) Why I think it would be logical : They would hunt for snakes, bugs, and vultures. They would take their water from the jug bugs, rarely going inland.
OOOOK I'M DONE. I hope that what I said made sense and wasn't too difficult to read, I tend to forget that I already talked about something and end up saying it again.... Sorry :'0 Hope this can contribute to the big brainstorming of these possible future gryphons ! I'll try to come back to shoot more ideas once in a while ;u;/
