The basic idea came from me thinking how in real life opinions about other countries are formed and if or how that would translate into Stellaris.
I noticed that some things were already in the game, like what your ethics are or what is your opinion about my friend/ally?
On one hand it felt like some of those values were too low or too high and on the other hand I thought the quite a few things were missing.

For example regarding policies, in real life we judge a lot of things about other countries on how the run things, in Stellaris, well, it doesn't really matter what policies you have, other empires don't care.
Or in Stellaris, why do other empires not care about what ascension perks you chose?

Also I felt like vanilla opinions were too static, so with policies having a small impact now, you can try to come closer to an empire you want to be friends with, when you switch up some of your polices. Or... annoy your xeno neighbor with polices they hate.
Also the goal is to add more events that can have impact on opinion to make it less static, currently this mod includes only one small one.

So this mod tries to improve on some issues a bit, it rebalances quite a few opinion values and other numbers regarding diplomacy and also adds some new opinions about stuff that was already in the game.
Sadly modding anything about diplomacy is almost impossible, so no, this mod doesn't add any new pacts, trade options or similar stuff, it just tries to improve on vanilla Stellaris and also tries to keep it vanilla-like, so no crazy ♥♥♥♥ will happen.

• rebalances lots of vanilla opinion impacts (for example: Ethics are a bit more important)
  
• introduces opinion impact of some Civics and/or Traits
  
• introduces opinion impact for most Policies
  
• introduces opinion impact of Ascension paths
  
• adds a small diplomatic event that may have some impact on opinion

none that I know of

• can be safely (de)activated during playthrough (although some modifiers may only apply correctly in new saves, but that doesn't impact the rest of the mod)
  
• should work without DLCs
  
• should work with but doesn't actively support new civics/traits/ascension perks/etc. added by some other mods out there
  
• should work with kinda every other mod out there, except if they do also change the same files (see below)

Overwrites some stuff in the 00_opinion_modifiers and 00_opinion_modifiers_federation files in \common\opinion_modifiers and changes some values of 00_defines in \common\defines.
