Better Mexico

Hello and welcome to the Better Mexico mod.

I've been playing Hearts of Iron for a while now (more than I'd like to admit) and, for the majority of this time, usually played with the minor nations, one of them being Mexico. Despite the possibilities surrounding the country around the time for WW2, it has no national focuses and very few resources, which is understandable considering Mexico had a very small part during the conflict, but regardless of that, I thought the experience of playing as them could be better, hence the creation of this mod.

What does this mod adds?
+ Over 90* national focuses for Mexico.
+ 3 new releasable nations, them being:
- Puerto Rico
- The West Indies Federation
- Guyana
+ New events regarding mexican history ( elections for instance )
+ Custom leaders for Mexico.
+ New flags for Mexico.

* the number can change overtime.

Is the mod complete?

The mod is currently still in development, the following features are going to be included in future updates:
+ A more balanced focus tree.
+ New custom events.
+ New custom ideas.
+ Localisation in:
- English
- Portuguese
+ Custom generals and politicians for Mexico.

When is the next update?

Well, this is all i've got for now, the mod is playable (albeit incomplete) and hopefully will fulfill all you Mexican needs. If you do play the mod, fell free to leave any sugestions, complaints and whatnot, any feedback is highly appreciated.

Enjoy your gaming session and have a good one.

You should add a "Embrace New Spain" tree that makes you non-align/monarchist and try to restore the Spanish Colonies in America and maybe take the Spanish throne.

Hello there, sorry it took so long for me to answer you.

I checked the event and tried to replicate the bug, but wasn't able to. Could you please give me more information about your game when it happened?
Have you already completed the "Claims of Iturbide" focus when the civil war event fired up?

As for the events without descriptions, that's just my mistake. I forgot to add localisation to most of the events, but now I'm working on it. Currently most of the events have localisation, the others left will be done by next update. Sorry for the trouble.

Have a good one

@The Eternal Avro

Hello there

I tried testing both mods but, for me atleast, they worked fine togheter. Could you tell me what were the issues you had? Like, did the game even load when both mods were active, or did the game crash?

Encountered two bugs playing non-aligned, Plutarco civil war fired with no description text or anything just "mex_dem" and "mex_pluto" while waiting for party popularity, I defeated the regime and when I later flipped to non-aligned the leader was the vannilia Lazaro Woll rather then Maria I

Hello there

I'll give it a shot, but I can't make any promisses. In the weekend I'll take a better look at the compatibility.
By the way, that bug is now fixed.

Have a good one

No problem, man. Happy to help!

Another thing though, the mod is incompatibile with the British Overhaul mod:

It's down to a state change in NFLD and Labrador. Is this something that would be easy to fix?

Hope I'm of service

Hello there, sorry it took so long for me to answer, recently I didn't have much time to log into my steam account.
I tested the scenario and it appears you've found a new bug, it should be easy enough to fix and hopefully in the next couple of days it will be fixed.
Thanks for reporting the bug, I wouldn't know about it otherwise.

Have a good one.
