Warbros Fighter Weapons (130mm Flak & 23mm Gimballed)

Description
HIATUS WARNING
Because of Keen SWH's repeated pushing of broken updates which make it hard to impossible to maintain a running server, I am taking a long break from Space Engineers. This includes work on said server, mods, and support for these mods. Please keep in mind that we still would like you to message us if you intend to do work on our mods for other purposes. For the time being: Goodbye, Space Engineers. Maybe you become playable without me wanting to kill myself and/or the people responsible for pushing out QA-confirmed non-working updates actually changin their ways.

So long, and thanks for the clang.

Warbros ModLabs brings you two reworked weapons for small ships, for your enjoyment.

Content: 130mm Flak Cannon, 23mm Gimballed Gun
Status: Tested, loved, and approved.
Useable: We even made a video with this.
Sources: Stark Industries, BASF, Northtrop Gruman
Concepts: Origami Folding Class 3B, Carnesville Community College
Software Used: WinAmp 3, Notepad++, TotalCommander, IrfanView, GIMP, Origin

Videos: The first video is a mockup in creative, shooting some random large ship with a small fighter. Scroll around. Audio is dead, sorry about that. Second video shows a heavy fighter engaging a Raiding Platform on a server, in survival. This one has audio. ;)

Compatabiity Note:
This mod can run concurrent with either of the OKI Weapon mod variants out there, with the SEI Weapons Pack, and can run by itself. The 130mm Flak Cannon and it's ammo are their own items, so they do not override or change the originals. The gimbaled 23mm gun is also a unique entity, and does not destroy anything else. It does use the 23mm ammo by Okim, but all models, textures, sounds, etc. are included (and renamed) to avoid issues either which way. There is no need to put this mod at a certain position in your mod list, it works whereever.

Stats!
_______________________________________

130mm Flak Cannon
Range: 500m
Rate of Fire: 300 RPM
Damage: medium
Accuracy: poor
Special: The original Flak Cannon uses ammunition that would not fit through small conveyor tubes and ports. This has been fixed in this modpack. Also, the original Flak Cannon fires four times, then reloads. This variant fires continously, but has half the rate of fire. It is also a slight bit more inaccurate, but carries further. Consider this a spamming weapon, supplemented by the gimballed guns. Both weapon and ammo have received proper icons to find them in the G Menu and the assembler, to make the ammo. The recipe now builds only one unit instead of four in one batch, but the cost has also been cut by 75% per batch.

23mm Gimballed Gun
Range: 800
Rate of Fire: 525 RPM
Damage: low
Accuracy: high
Special: This variant of the original gimballed gatlign gun fires 23mm slugs, as per OKI Weapons Collection. It is pin-point accurate and carries far. It does, however, deal less damage than other weapons. The rate of fire has been slightly reduced to the original gatling guns, to make up for the added accuracy and versatility of the gimbal mounts. These are best used in groups. Keep in mind that they can and will damage nearby blocks. When paired with the 130mm Flak Cannon in close vicinity, make sure the barrels' ends are at the same height, or your 23mm gimbal guns will destroy your flak cannon barrel. also keep in mind that bullets can and will detonate your flak shells prematurely - so build smart.

DX9/DX11 Status:
We are in the post-planets era. Any mod you see released by me is DX11 and usually still supports DX9, but if one of those is not working right, it is DX9. DX11 is what I focus on, as any modder worth his salt should. Please don't ask "Is this DX11 compatible?". Yes it is. I am not going to release a mod that I cannot use myself, and since I run a server with planets, that means DX11 is always gonna work. If anything DX9 users might sometimes not luck out. But DX11 will always work.

Now, if you want still want to support what my numerous buddies and I are doing, we have set up a patreon[www.patreon.com]. If you want to make this game a little less of a financial toll me, feel free to shoot me some shekels. Keep in mind though, I am not asking anyone to do so. The patreon is for the players who play on my server, but I won't say no to anyone feeding me a buck to help pay for that thing. Just be aware that I won't be able to deliver the rewards if your not playing on my box. You should still click that PayPal link, though. I like that link. Come on. Just click it. Just once. Do it.

are you going to keep working on this?
Dakroth Jun 19, 2016 @ 11:06am
They released the public branch thursday, though since I don't bother playing on servers anymore, I have no idea if you would call it "stable." xD

How inconvenient. I'd say, this mod will need an overhaul once I get back into Spengies, which won't happen before we see a stable branch.

Just in case you weren't already aware, trying to control the gimballed gatling causes CTDs D:

Build them. Turn them on. They will automatically fire any target in front of them. Treat them like fixed cone turrets. Turn them off to ... not shoot.

How to I use the gimballed guns?

@Demize: Check my workshop for the Azimuth compatible cockpit then. It's a cockpit made from individual blocks, rather than being a set piece.

I might be over looking it, but I'd like to get my hands of that badass cockpit on the pics of your ships. Looks like a "normal" fighter cockpit, but looks a little different.
