Update:
New Airlock System with automatic door sensors. Decoys are not working at the moment, I have to check whats wrong with the welders. Now with self aligned projector for quick repairs!

Update:
The Atlas-class Frigate now supports Cryopods, pressurized rooms, Medbay connected to conveyor network and Oxygen Generators (ice and sunlight). The whole interior got a major overhaul, new production capabilities and several other small improvements. Have a look at the new pics. /


IMDC Engineers proudly present the new Atlas-class frigate.This final product comes with several improvements.
Like the prototype, this ship can do several support tasks, like preparing the battle field with decoys or mines and distraction of the enemy.

Improvements compared to the prototype

- mass reduction, new classification (frigate)
- cameras for primary rocket launcher (with zoom yeah!) and other spots
- additional ventral entry for landings
- timer blocks to control the rocket launchers: allows them to shoot in sequence, not all at once
- optimized Decoy System Mk2 allows you to push decoys quite precisely in one direction
- more thruster output
- ventral and dorsal docking port for drones or small fighters
- better turret layout, allowing all missile turrets to shoot straight forward

So, I finally finished my work on this ship. The experimental cruiser was fun, but it was only a test. In this (hopefully) final version I adjusted many features and improved the overall performance.

The rocket launcher sequence is system to make sure, that every rocket fired on target will be a hit. While other ships shoot all their rockets in big volleys, this ship shoots one rocket after another preventing the missiles from blowing up in a chain reaction fizzling out without effect. I implemented 4 Timer blocks for the rocket launcher sequence. This rocket launcher sequence can be iniciated by hopping into the cockpit and hitting 1, 2, 3 and 4 in a moderately fast sequence. It will fire rockets untill you press 5 or run out of missiles.

The Decoy System is the other key feature of this ship because as long as your enemy is in range of your decoys, his turrets wont shoot at you, but instead at your decoys. To use the Decoy System hop in the cockpit, go to toolbar page 2 and press 4 several times while slowly decelerating or flying decently backwards. When you have about a dozen decoys, you fly forward, 'catch' the decoys that you just built with the 'wings' of the ship and throw them towards an enemy with the power of inertia!!! With the same system you can also build mines.

The decoupling system will detach all grey armor panels from the ship, making it faster and lighter but less protected. I cant imagine many situations when this would come in handy, but it just looks cool. I wouldnt recommend using this feature on DS, because it creates multiple new grid entities. I didnt test it, but Im quite sure this will result in heavy lag for all players on the server.

Hey Horx! Could I get your permission to post a refit of this ship? I've been working on once since the factorum update dropped and turned it into something that can fight their warship.

After printing the ship I am unable to convert it to a ship. Its fully disconnected from the ground and any grid. I even tried to detach all the removable armor, but still no luck. Anyone else having this issue?

Armor holds decently, but the density of certain sections is misplaced. NEEDS MORE GUNS.
