There are some things that could be used to make the track a bit better, and lay off the "fake difficulty".
1. Your track doesn't communicate with the player until its almost always too late. Doing a near perfect run requires either memorizing the track or inhuman reflexes.
2. The two large jumps are pretty good, but as they are right now, you have to slow waay down in order to pitch up fast enough. I would either give the player more room or angle the ramp up a bit. If you still want the jumps to be hard, put obstacles in the air.
3. The difficulty curve of this map is WEIRD. Its been a while since I've run into a map where the farther you get through it the easier it gets. I would keep a consistent difficulty over the entire track or ramp it up as you go down the track.
The walljumps were fun tho.
Overall, I give this map a 9/10. Great hard track, but with the fake difficulty I just can't give it a 10/10.
I didn’t want the track to be “readable” either, I see this game as a puzzler in some ways and I want people to figure out what they’re doing wrong and adapt, and the infrequency of checkpoints adds to that difficulty.
TL;DR I made the type of track I enjoy; difficult, requires your attention, requires you to adapt and doesn’t tell you how to complete it. I don’t expect everyone to like it, but please don’t complain about it being difficult. I've downloaded plenty of tracks and there are loads of other easier tracks out there for you to play.
Thanks :)
The bad part: I do not find this a great track. I consider this a bad track despite itself. :( The track spends almost zero time communicating with the player. The track also starts pretty hostile, this will prevent many players from getting beyond the first few hundred meters/yards of track. (Which is a pity!)
I do see lots of innovation: lots of strong and interesting obstacles. I don't want to be off-putting, please continue to share your work. I am posting a more detailed rundown on my thoughts in the Discussions section for this track.
*GREAT* work and I'm really glad to have played this track (despite the fact that I think overall it is deeply flawed).
Thanks!
The hardest (and coolest) part of the track is the jumping through rings portion. If you screw up the first time, it's pretty difficult to do it again because spawning from the checkpoint not only gives you less time to build up speed, but also seems to rotate the car slightly from the direction of the track, meaning you don't go off the jump from the middle, which in turn makes it more difficult to avoid hitting the inside of the small circles you're meant to pass through. I found it a little frustrating and would recommend changing it.
