Description
Antigone Destroyer pack

Adds three new destroyers to the game, along with a new engine type.

Amphitrite class
After a series of political blunders and increasing tension between allies, the Antigone Republic decided to increase its efforts to operate independently from the Argon Federation. This included an increase in military spending and a necessity in the ability to design and build its own ships.

The Amphitrite class was one of such ships coming out of this event, Having less access to resources than the powerful Federation the Antigone engineers had to get creative with the assets they had at hand, the final result being a hybrid design mixing modern technology with relatively archaic technology.

The Amphitrite class finds its base in some old pre-shutdown ship designs, but has been built from the ground up to accommodate the advances in technology that have occurred since then, ranging from modern main battery weapons to modular shield generators and a modernized propulsion system.

The design philosophy behind the Amphitrite was "hit fast, hit hard, hit often" a philosophy this ship embodies in its performance. While it has relatively weak shielding and mediocre armor for a destroyer, its one of the fastest, most maneuverable ships of its type. Its armament is similar, emphasizing less on defensive turrets and instead focusing on its frontal firepower with no less than three main battery guns and a large turret.

One of its pre-shutdown remnant features was a large cargo bay, which the Republic's engineers repurposed into a drone hangar, allowing the Amphitrite to quickly field a respectable number of defense drones to assist the ship in its combat operations.

Arethusa class
The Arethusa class is the Amphitrite class's older sister. Meant to complement each other, the Antigone Republic's engineers took a more conservative approach when designing the Arethusa, choosing to rely on the trusted combination of putting lots of turrets and powerful defensive systems on the ship's hull, as opposed to the lighter, high performance Amphitrite class.

The Arethusa was the first of two destroyers designed by the Antigone Republic's new independent armament initiative, its development sped up by making extensive use of pre-shutdown civilian hull parts. While this allowed the ship to be built quickly, and relatively cheap, it made it rather bulky and somewhat slow, especially as two of the proposed four auxiliary engines where removed in favor of additional turret mounts.

While ill suited for quick assaults and fast response tactics, the Arethusa shines in prolonged engagements, being able to cover a significant area with its many L turrets while being able to withstand punishment with its decent shield and strong armor plating.

Arethusa Raider class
Being a pirate refit of a captured military vessel, the Arethusa Raider variant of the Arethusa Destroyer offers increased cargo capacity and mobility while sacrificing some armament hardpoints and some armor, despite its lesser armament it is no less a threat to civilian shipping as any other pirate vessel.

Used by the Scaleplate pirates to plunder orbital production facilities and harass freighters, the Arethusa Raider is one of the rare few pirate vessels that boasts significantly increased survivability thanks to its original purpose as an escort destroyer, allowing it to survive much harsher punishment, and in turn, allow for much riskier heists.

What does this mod change

This mod adds two new destroyers exclusive to the ANT shipyard. and one destroyer to the SCA faction, as well as a new engine specifically designed to fit on these ships.

The Amphitrite class has 3 L main guns, 1 L turret, 8 M turrets, 25 drone capacity, two shield generators and light armor, but in turn is decently maneuverable and for a ship of its size, very fast.

The Arethusa class has 1 L main gun, 4 L turrets, 13 M turrets, 10 drone capacity, three shield generators and a lot of armor, but is the slowest ship of the bunch, and one of the slowest destroyers available.

The Arethusa Raider class has 1 L main gun, 2 L turrets, 13 M turrets, 15 drone capacity, three shield generators and has a very big cargo hold, while it sacrifices a little bit on armor and firepower it does have increased speed and maneuverability over the original Arethusa.

All ships are integrated in their respective faction's fleets.

Supports custom paint jobs, and there's an optional VRO patch.

A note on destructible engines

If you wanna destroy the engines on these ships, target the "regular" modular circular engines, do not shoot at the side mounted engines as they are part of the main hull and you will just damage the ship's shield/hull rather than the engines.

I love them. For purely selfish reasons, as I only play Antigone, please more Antigone ships lol.

@Encartia: Good catch! i did include the hatch mesh, but its component detail level tags were set too low so it'd disappear even at close range.

pushed out an update to fix that.

Did you include the anim_main_hatch-mesh ?

@HMueller While generally removing mods mid playthrough is always inadvisable, you can do so with ships. Just make sure you are not piloting one of the mod's ships when you do remove it because that will brick your save.

Wow! Very cool ships! Gonna try them for sure. Can I remove/uninstall them if I change my mind?

Really like all your ships, just as a compliment :)

I feel like Antigone might have developed a similar thing to the Arethusa, given that their trading fleets get pulverized by Terran raids pretty easily. Something like no main weapon, keep the M turrets and turn the Ls into more defensive Ms, and 20 drones? Call it a Military Transport?
