Backstory:

In 1920, the Soviet Union unexpectedly won the war against Poland, triggering a chain of catastrophic events across Europe. Germany, France, Britain, and the Little Entente intervened to halt the westward spread of communism, starting what became known as the Great War. European armies reached Moscow, but the USSR endured and, in 1925, captured Berlin—devastating half the continent. Germany collapsed, Poland vanished, Britain was weakened by bombings, and France narrowly avoided destruction. Eastern Europe became a belt of Soviet puppet states, and the USSR rose as a global superpower.

Throughout the 1930s, Europe descended into chaos: revolutions, famine, and millions of refugees. Italy disintegrated, Ireland defeated Britain and united the island, and colonial empires began to crumble. The USSR prepared for a new campaign in Asia while expanding its influence westward. By 1936, France stood as the last stable democracy in the Old World. But suddenly, Germany began to rise again—under the banner of Europe, seeking revenge. As the continent lay in ruins, a new power was rising from the ashes.
