NSC3 Mass Effect Shipsets

Description
This is an addon for NSC3 that adds the shipsets from the Mass Effect universe to the game. This mod adds the following shipsets that are available to select for a new game:

  • Systems Alliance
  • Turian Hierarchy
  • Cerberus
  • Reapers
  • Geth
  • Collectors
  • Reapers/Geth/Collectors
  • Quarians

IMPORTANT NOTES
  • Because Frigates and Destroyers use the same hulls in NSC, we had to do a little bit of trickery with the Normandy in the Systems Alliance and Cerberus sets. When using either of these sets, you will see that the Frigate and Destroyer base hulls are blank, and you will be able to choose to use the original Normandy, the Normandy SR-2, or the original Destroyer model depending on which section you choose. There is no way I know of to circumvent this, it's just how it is. Please do not report it as a bug, because it is working as designed.

  • In addition to the ship models added, there have also been changes to other models such as starbases, stations, and similar. Most of the sets in this mod will use the Systems Alliance models, because the original modeler that made all of this did not make species-specific minor stuff like stations and such.

  • There are no turrets or weapon locators on these models - all weapons will appear to fire from the center of each ship. This is something that will not be changed, as it would require redesigning the 3D models.

  • I am not a 3D modeler, and we do not have one on the NSC team. This mod is considered complete as it is, except for any future bug fixes or game updates that are needed. I will not be changing any ship or structure models.

  • There may be a few minor texture errors here and there. I do not have the knowledge to fix these, so I'm afraid that everyone is going to have to live with those minor issues.

FenFenScreeScree - No, I do not have models for the Asari.

No Asari ships??

@CaptainX3: Yes, in the asset files there are position fields with x y z coordinates, but changing them had no visual effect in-game for me. I don't think they override what's hardcoded in the mesh.

Since I last posted I learned to open mesh files in Blender and adjusted weapon origin points. In the Vorlon shipset, the large guns on the Dreadnought were firing from far behind the ship (I had changed the Dreadnought to look like the Juggernaught model, just personal taste, but it introduced a turret location problem). In Blender I found 2 turret locators (represented by orange dots) far behind the ship and moved them to match the ones at the front. After reloading the game, the weapons fired correctly from the front.

This used pre-existing locators. The step-up from this is to add new turret locators from scratch, and they need to match the names of the entries in the asset files (large_gun_01, etc). I suspect missing locators cause weapons to fire from the system center.

hum hi i am using this mod on its own and my construction and science ships are just boxes so is that because it needs NSC3 or not??

Bunny Shake - If you are absolutely sure that this is the cause, there is a possible code fix, I believe I can define locators in the asset files using coordinates, so I might try that when I have time.

@Cruel Humor and others: Since I've ran into that issue with plenty of shipsets, the problem seems to happen when the ship model (.mesh file) has no turret locators (or not enough) defined for that weapon size/type, or the section doesn't match its locators correctly (asking for 2 XL slots, but the mesh has 1 XL locator). The game doesn't know where to fire the weapon from so it defaults to shooting from the center of the system. The weapon still works, just the visuals are bugged.
I know this is fixable but it requires using Blender to work on the mesh files.

Unfortunately, I was told that this particular bug is caused by some issue with the ship models themselves. I didn’t create the models nor do I know how to edit them, so I’m afraid my only options are to ignore the bug, or take the mod down permanently. I will not be able to fix it, sorry guys.

Same here hope it gets fixed soon.

I also have the same bug as cruel humor, I'm not using amazing space battles
