Since I last posted I learned to open mesh files in Blender and adjusted weapon origin points. In the Vorlon shipset, the large guns on the Dreadnought were firing from far behind the ship (I had changed the Dreadnought to look like the Juggernaught model, just personal taste, but it introduced a turret location problem). In Blender I found 2 turret locators (represented by orange dots) far behind the ship and moved them to match the ones at the front. After reloading the game, the weapons fired correctly from the front.
This used pre-existing locators. The step-up from this is to add new turret locators from scratch, and they need to match the names of the entries in the asset files (large_gun_01, etc). I suspect missing locators cause weapons to fire from the system center.
I know this is fixable but it requires using Blender to work on the mesh files.
It works without, I don't have NSC3 and it works fine for me.
As I said, I just wanted to warn people using the mod without NSC - like me - about that :D
Only thing that I have to say, is that it always felt weird to me that you decided to put the SR2 ( and Cerberus variant ) for the destroyer instead of corvette. Idk, I've always find that the corvette and destroyer design for the System Alliance and Cerberus shipset would be better the other way around - ( So the corvette design as destroyer, and the destroyer design as a corvette ) -
Inerael - Thank you! I am aware of the weird rainbow effect on the Harbinger flagship, unfortunately I have no idea how to fix it, however I am now working with a team that is working on a Mass Effect total conversion mod, so hopefully their texture guys can figure out what is happening there and help me fix it.
I’m not sure what you mean by the Cerberus frigate being “light”, can you be more specific?
(not big issue, maybe its my bad but i found some little issue like cerberus frigat is just a little light; the harbinger model for flagship texture is a little bit strange like a rainbow)
(i tried with a load order Ui overhaul, NSC3, and then your mod)
Anyway, thanks you verry much ! :)
Lycius - Thanks, when I get time I’ll update the mod so the stations and fortresses will use the same models as the platforms.
Just a little nitpick though : Are you sure the latest mod update was in 2023 ?
I didn’t bother taking screenshots because I don’t feel like editing them and uploading them, especially since the Steam workshop bugs out on images. The ones I uploaded for NSC took several hours because every time I’d upload them and try to save them, they’d disappear.
This mod is here to fulfill requests for an updated version for those on the NSC Discord server who asked for it, nothing more. If other people wish to use it, feel free, but it is what it is - take it or leave it.
Look, your complaint has some validity, but your delivery came off whiny and entitled as hell.
Just tested all your ship models without NSC3 and there are no problems.
