A simple edit to remove the massive amount of always status effects which cause horrendous lag once everyone got a bag and/or extra bags were used for storage. As this mod was released before backpacks dropped with the assistant update and has since been a go-to and silent killer of campaigns due to the intense lag it creates mid to late game along with other mods, especially those with high item count, status effect and/or afflictions.

Replaced Weight affliction stacks with a with a singular movement penalty when worn along with flattening the bonus and penalty to skills. Very heavy packs are just generally slower but generally packs should feel closer to vanilla backpacks.

1/11/2025 Changed ALL of the sprites to be divisible by 4 so they no longer create lag trying to load dozens of uncompressed .png files!!!

All backpacks reduce movement speed (might separate walk/swim later) and propulsion speed when using a scooter. Heavier bags have a small flow resist bonus as well. Standard backpack is less than the assistant backpack and each item added reduces speed and adds buffs/penalties having a holster of any type reduces propulsion by 5% while a heavy holster affects movement speed as well. Overlap of skills does not provide a huge stacking bonus or penalty as overlap is taken into account.

Re-breather has 10% lacerate, bite and blunt protection due to its solid frame and additional head protection. Its still kind of meh but it isn't particularly slow and has flow resist.

Scooter packs have better propulsion penalty modifiers than standard packs due to being aquadynamic.

Bags typically give +/- 5 in a skill or a small repair speed buff penalty depending on size and type.

Removed Toolbelt and Weaponmount changes.

I also noticed something strange. If you deconstruct the MB+Ammocrate, you get fewer resources than you need to assemble it. But if you deconstruct MB + Ammocrate + Shell Rack, you get back all the resources required for its assembly.

The holder is attached to the wall when aiming with standard assignment E.

These backpacks can be placed there so that they are not lying around everywhere, if you have more than one depending on the task.

Problem they also appear as large on the holder as they are, depending on where you place them, it can visually cover other things if you put a backpack in it.

If a submarine is very small and has little space, you can hardly find a place to put them.

What is the point of the Modular Holder item? You can put backpacks in them but you can't do anything else with them. When I hold right click I get a placing grid, but I can't place them so I have no idea what they're for. I can't put the in cabinets or on shelves, is it a work in progress thing?

And it might also be a good idea to speed up the assembly and disassembly of backpacks in the fabricator and deconstructor. This would emphasize the logic of having one backpack and a set of modules for it, rather than five separate backpacks for everything.

For a long time, I couldn't understand the philosophy behind this mod. Backpacks can't be stored in lockers, storing them on racks doesn't look very nice, and there's not always enough space.

Then I realized that you can put a simple modular backpack on the container shelf, and store the modules separately in boxes. This way, the mod started to make much more sense. But there are still a couple of things that get in the way.

1) Why can't you put both the large and small holsters in a regular steel container, even though you can store all the other modules there? I think this is a minor oversight.

2) I think it would make sense to make the railgun shell rack a module as well. Right now, it can only be deconstructed into resources and crafted back from them. Although I realize this change is optional, since in its normal form the rack is probably too big.

This mod isn't perfectly balanced, few things rarely are. It does attempt to have some internal consistency so you can choose which one suits your playstyle and current mission. If you want a do everything fancy backpack mod there are plenty of cheat mods posing as quality of life that give you 26+ slots for medium and even large items without and weight restrictions.

If you want a mod that expands backpacks with the ability to give utility light, built in scooters or carry medium weapons and ammo crate but at the cost of movement speed as trade offs this is the mod for you.

If you want to carry dozens of loadouts for every situation and do everything I would suggest looking elsewhere.

It doesn't make sense to have a backpack that has everything the others have, because the others have no use anymore.

That it is not too cheap, how should the recipe be, you have to have them all once and make each group into a new one, and then make the groups into one, because not all of them go into the Fabricator and they don't fit into cupboards to pull them out when building.

You can use the cheat backpacks that are available, which have a large cupboard as space, or even more space, and has no movement disadvantages and is visually small.

There may also be some where you can put suitcases on a normal place as it was before the update before they got their own places, and since it is a cabinet, of course, heavy weapons go in everywhere, and maybe one even made the additional ammunition boxes and railgun shells go in.
