"Four Steps Back" is a submod that aims to rewind the clock to an earlier point in "Red Floods" development.

- Do you miss the Old AnPrim path for France?

- Do you miss Kornilov and the many parties that aimed to rest control of his realm in Central Asia?

- Do you miss the Super events for the many states who unify the Congo basin?

- Do you miss the Straits commission and the after effect of the Treaty of Sèvres?

This mod restores all of this and more!


In addition to bringing back many of the more beloved elements of older builds. This mod adds a number of fixes and improvements to old and new content alike!

- The Belgian Congo Remnants now have a fully restored focus tree with events, ideas, and even new leaders that will allow for a new experience in Unifying the Congo.

- The Restored Czechoslovak Kingdom and the American Occupation of Nicaragua have new decisions to make them more playable.

- Ethiopia has new decisions to re-unify their realm in the wake of its collapse, granting cores to expand the empire even further.

- Austria had some of its older content left unfinished. Now it is finally filled out to bring a new conclusion to its transformation and perhaps the second World War.

- Reform the Qing in style as you conquer your way across China to reclaim the mandate.

- (Update 7/15/25 I am still working on the new update. Have not had all the time I would like to put towards it but it will be coming soon enough.)


Almost all of the credit goes to the "Red Flood" development team as most of this mod is just content formerly created by their team for "Dance on the Euphrates" and prior versions. Which is now updated to work with Modern HOI4, including many of the flags, leader portraits, and general structure of the mod.

Thank you for reporting that. The Red Flood dev team has been changing the localisation for some countries in the main mod which messes up things like names in my mod. I have corrected the issue in the newly uploaded version.

this mod also seems to mess up the names of the leaders of Ayr Thracia with the leaders name now being BUL_aleksander_stamboliyski, same with most of the party leaders of Ayr Thracia

Its entirely possible and it would be easier with Goebbels as I don't have redo everything in the nation which makes places like Ukraine, Austria, and the future Poland much harder. Its none the less a time consuming affair but I will see about getting both focus tree's in the game.

I think it would be really cool, if possible, to add back in the old flags and names for Germany, as well as events to allow for the players to either choose the Old or New Content. Like for example, Goebbels becomes leader of Germany, and his event has two options, one for the New content and one for the old.

Well actually the Beiyang republic at one point had a focus tree which allowed it to reconquer china along with rebuild its army and economy. Like many things in the old versions, however, it was broken and never finished. The next update, I planned to add a modified version of the conquest part of the tree as a tac-on to the generic focus tree for Chinese states among other things. It primarily needs icons as apparently that is the last thing the RF Team makes for content if anything else I have found is an indication.

Your not bothering me at all. :cozyspaceengineersc: I am quite happy you are taking an interest in the mod. I apologize if anything I write comes across as Irritable. I type in clinical fashion and am very bad at conveying emotion through text.

Firstly, I can have a look for the old portrait for Kivu, Sure. I am not sure if I can find it but I have a number of older versions of the mod so I think it is likely.
Secondly, the event with no localisation is the starting event for whether you want nations released through decisions or not. (More for the AI's sake honestly) The first option (A) disables them, the second option (B) enables them. I was going to fix it and add the old welcome screen (The one with more humorous options) but I had not yet gotten to it. I will include it soon.
