OWB - Old World Roads

Description
A Supply Rework for Old World Blues

A revamp of the current OWB supply system to better simulate the wasteland and logistical issues.

Using a 4 level road system ranging from trails to highways, traverse the wasteland on the roads of old. Conquer California via the Long 15, pillage Vault City along I-80, or forgo the roads altogether and traverse the trails of the badlands... the choice will be yours.

Important Note: You will need to load a new game for map changes to take effect.

What's Different?

4 distinct levels of road for you to traverse covering the current vanilla map, based off real highways connecting from city to city. A few liberties were taken to account for several factors including game balance and pre-war roads that may not exist today. The roads still use the 5 level road system in base hoi4, making it compatible with submods that change road textures, but only 4 will be visible on the map.

Units now require more supply, (power armor, vehicles, & heavy units will need even more) requiring more logistics and resources to field large and/or advanced armies.

Caravans are now much more vital to your campaigns, will scale in the mid-game just like the base game, likewise larger armies will require more caravans. 100+ caravans will be needed for majors and their big wars (ie. NCR, Caesar's Legion, Republic of Rio Grande).

Frontline supply will be more scarce, utilize trucks and forward planning of your objectives to keep your armies supplied and in tip top shape! Infrastructure and VPs deliver less local supply, but can sustain a small number of divisions on their own.

Compatibility

Unfortunately, a compatibility submod is 'required' to run Old World Roads with map expansions. It is just best to run a compatibility mod to ensure that the roads are loaded correctly and that all dependencies are in order for consistent results. There is no difference between these mods other than the necessary dependencies, I apologize for this inconvenience.

At this moment, the mod is only compatible with vanilla OWB & Fountain of Dreams. Until East Coast Rising and the other expansion submods are updated, do not expect any changes.

Any submods that add custom units or make changes to existing units will conflict with this mod, in most cases it should be fine because most crucial changes are made to the supply values directly. Unintentional circumstances may occur with new/changed units, but just about every submod I have seen has yet to touch the supply values file, so I wouldn't worry about this. If you find any serious issues with other submods, let me know and I can make a compatibility patch.

Feedback & Future

If you feel that I missed a road or there is an egregious error with a part of the mod, please report it here so it can get fixed. Any feedback or suggestions are highly appreciated!

Thank you and enjoy!

@2icharlie I looked into your comment but unfortunately I could not replicate the results except for a few circumstances, but not quite as you described. The mod basically nukes the supply requirement for ships, although ports can be used to supply units and ship supply to closer ports. However, I could not find a way to make the ports themselves use as much supply as 25 without death stacking fleets and units.

I did make tweaks to the supply range of hubs, I found this to be a bit helpful for reducing the burden that ports take, but I admit this is hardly a solution to this bug. I tried with both UCM & plain OWB, but could not make any serious strides in making it as (somewhat) seamless as vanilla Hoi4. If this problem continues to occur, try reinstalling the mod (and OWB if it remains), otherwise please let me know and I can look more into it.

June 13th Update:
Cleaned up several areas of the map
Tweaked supply values to be more consistent among different nations & less attrition for the big wars
Added decisions for caravans & road construction
Now compatible with Fountain of Dreams

sorry, forgot to mention i use it with the utlimate tech compatability mod compatch, so i dont know if its that mod or this one that makes things weird

a cool mod, although seems to have a weird interaction with docks. the docks take up enormous amounts of supply (like 25, just about above the limit) even though theres no giant fleet there or seemingly any reason. but then if i build a supply depot in that same province the supply goes back down to single digits

Sorry for the late response, yes this mod is compatible with R&R. While not purposely balanced for R&R, I find that it is a good submod to have for late game scenarios or for more unique supply management

Does this work with OWB: Roads and Rail? While on the surface it looks like they'd work well together, I don't know if the code actually allows it.

This looks incredibly promising! While I won't be using this mod right now since I'm using the various map expansion modmods, I will be subbing to this and keeping an eye on future updates.

At the moment, the only AI nation that is consistently struggling with the supply changes is the White Legs, I will get around to fixing this. Everything else is running smoothly with smaller nations and conflicts being able to play out normally. If you feel that there are bugs or unbalanced portions of the map, report them here to me.
