Ah, I didn't test it with weapons which can one-hit the surface elements. It follows the vanilla rules for a ship becoming hostile. Instantly destroying the surface elements prevents the continual attack condition from triggering. Since destroying the element itself now has no reputation penalty, it prevents them from becoming hostile as both hostility conditions will fail. It's likely a limitation of the reputation system.
I do agree it's a minor issue, I use this just so I don't only need too do Fly-By boarding anyways, So even with that quirk or exploit it's still better than that. Still more interactive gameplay without silly infinity rep loss and maintaining durability.
Destroying the surface elements still makes the ship hostile, it just doesn't reduce the reputation. Are you using another mod like Friendly Fire Tweaks?
It might be possible with custom scripting, but I'm unsure how to do it, and it's beyond the scope of this mod. A sudden rebalance would negatively affect players who downloaded it for 0 reputation.
I agree that it is cheaty. However, the game is a very easy sandbox. It has countless mechanics which are basically cheating if you don't limit yourself. I'd suggest just limiting yourself one more time for this mod.
Because right now I can literally destroy all surface elements on a friendly vessel and they won't even go hostile on me.
Litterally one of the mods I've wanted the most!
Didn't make any sense to me, that factions whent apesh*t over every single little turret or shield, then they repair the turret I down it again, and yet another hit to reputation.
God I hope this works, gonna be my number one favorite mod for a new playthrough, thanks for making it.
