Description
The reload process seems to be broken. This may be due to one of the game's updates, and fixing it would take a long time. The rest of the drone still works fine.

WARNINGS:
It is important to read these warnings before using the drone. Not following these instructions can cause errors, destruction of the drone and even nuclear contamination. Warnings marked as critical are the ones, that cause the most damage when not followed.
  • (CRITICAL) Land the aircraft before exiting your game. As the navigation is Lua based, the data will reset every time the game is loaded. This makes the aircraft think, that it should still be in the hangar. [PARTIALLY FIXED. NOW THE FRONT LANDING GEAR HAS A "DIRECT TAKEOFF" BUTTON. WITH THIS, THE DRONE CAN TAKE OFF DIRECTLY FROM THE RUNWAY, OR EVEN HANGAR.]
  • (CRITICAL) Do not fire the missiles, when the aircraft is changing altitude above 2km. During this time, the aircraft can point nearly directly upwards, which causes issues with the internal missiles. If this is done, the missile can detonate inside the bay, which most likely leads to a crash, and nuclear radiation spilling into the environment.
  • (CRITICAL) Do not fire two missiles with less than a second in between. This can cause issues with the weapons bay doors, which makes the missile detonate inside the aircraft, making similar results to the previous warning.
  • (CRITICAL) Do not command the drone to land, when taxiing or rearming is in progress. This will mess with the automatic waypoint system, and the drone will most likely drive slowly off the runway, resulting in the drone crashing.
  • Do not fire the missiles below 1km altitude, as they can hit the ground before ascending.
  • When a rearming/landing command is given, the missiles still inside the drone will be dropped with warheads unarmed. This is done to reduce weight for the landing, and dropping the missiles can cause damage, if they hit something.
  • Only send one UC-5 at a time for rearming, as they will collide. This will probably be fixed later.

Directly compatible systems:
These other units will communicate directly with BDA-3. Others may be still needed for proper function.

What is BDA-3
Note, that this is a testbed for systems, that will be used on other vehicles in the future. Because of this, the aircraft isn’t prefect, and it can have issues.

Introducing Meteor Combat Systems’ new nuclear powered autonomous strategic missile carrier. This aircraft is able to takeoff, land, rearm, etc. with minimal user input. The user only needs to click a button, and the drone does the rest. Multiple users can call missile strikes almost anywhere by simply having a terminal with targeting system (SOT-11). The missiles carried by the drone (SGUM-7A) can hit a target 20km away with 0.5m accuracy. Because of the missile’s high speed, cruise altitude and impact angle, the missile is very hard to detect and intercept reliably by the enemies. As the aircraft is nuclear powered and rearmable, it can theoretically operate with no repairs infinitely.

Drone's features (BDA-3):
  • Fully automatic takeoff and landing on command.
  • Can be autonomously rearmed on runway by UC-5, in under two minutes.
  • Missiles strikes can be called at any time by multiple users.
  • Nuclear powered with radiation detectors.
  • Can be operated from any airfield with similar layout to Harrison airbase, no matter the orientation. Bases such as the creative base will cause the drone to crash or fall into water.
  • "Direct Takeoff" for continuing the flight from the runway without reloading.

Missile's features (SGUM-7A):
  • 6m long compact design.
  • Very heavy at around 1.75 tons.
  • 20km guaranteed range, no testing was done further than that.
  • Hard to intercept trajectory.
  • Highly precise GPS targeting, which can be updated mid flight.

DB-9 Control network
DB-9 is a system, which allows multiple users to both control drones, and call in missile strikes. This system at the moment consists of BDA-3 (Autonomous Strategic Missile Platform), VC-10 (Drone Control Terminal), SOT-11 (Strike Calling and Targeting Terminal), UC-5 (Autonomous Rearm Vehicle) and SGUM-7A (GPS Precision Missile).

State labels (STAT or STT):

State

How to use:
See the attached video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5lQFMRq5Ao

Planned additions (Drone and compatible units):
  • Mid air rearming. (Likely not to happen soon)
  • Data encryption. Right now, the radio data can be seen by everyone, who has a control terminal and knows the frequency.

Known issues:
  • In situations described in the warnings section, a missile may explode in the weapons bay. At the moment, this is somewhat rare to happen, so this shouldn’t cause issues, if the drone is used correctly.
  • The landing sequence takes a very long route, which is necessary for good alignment. This might get fixed in the future.
  • The landing is generally very rough, and there’s a chance of the front landing gear collapsing for a while. This though is still completely safe.

Please comment about issues or future suggestions!

Well, it was somehow broken when I last tested it. Though the rearm vehicle isn't supposed to pull the aircraft at all, so something is still going on.

Watch the tutorial video, it shows everything you need to know.

reload doesn't appear to be broken, tried it and it worked
only thing was that it got misaligned from the airfield when the rearm vehicle was pulling it after it rearmed, not sure if that's intentional

how do you tell it to land?

That's a really good idea, but very hard to do on my part. I will soon be unable to work on this until July, so you'd have to handle this on your own. I wouldn't be able to make any upgrades to the control panel, and as the code is garbage, it'd be very hard to reverse engineer.

Though if you're fine working on this without my help other than giving advice through messages, then you can for sure try. Sorry for not being able to help more.

@Yginase Hello. I really like this creation i think its sick, and i have some ideas that could turn this into a cooler creation, spoiler, something like the arsenal bird. If youd like to add me or dm me whatever we could talk about something of the sort and could collaborate, ive had some success with a potential cool addition to this involving autonomas air to air docking. If youd like to hear about it in more detail send me a message or add me and then message me, not sure how it works but if we collaborated we could make something very cool. Im kind of vague here but let me know if its someone you wanna hear about andwe can discuss in more detail, and if youd like to add /message me on discord my tags the same as steam, or message me on steam whatever works. it would be something very similar to an actual working arsenal bird and it wouldnt be too much work as a majority of it is here and in my other creations. let me know!

I just tested the system, and it for sure has issues. I guess one of the game updates broke it, as it worked perfectly before. This would be quite hard to fix now, since I made this quite a while ago, and finding the problem would probably take days.

I'm making a land based version of this, which is nearly done already. If you want to have a similar missile support system, but far more reliable, you should wait for that one to be uploaded.

@Tis je Niffo
Right, I'll see if I can replicate that, and figure out what's wrong. How frequently does this happen?

@Yginase
After landing, the nose of the plane will point a bit to the left. The cart comes driving to the plane, gets grabbed and pulled under the plane. Lots of noise, but nothing visually happens.. Then the arms that were used to pull the cart under the plane will travel to the back of the plane again but the cart stays stuck in the same position under the plane. rear bombs and rear of the plane get damaged, Cart will drive off and take the plane with it. If i use the launch button on the forward landing gear strut the plane will take off with the cart still attached.. Sometimes getting back to set altitude, sometimes exploding mid air and crashing. Spawned in same hangar at recommended airport. High physics. Nothing infinite set to on.

@Tis je Niffo
That's weird. Did you spawn them both in the same hangar? At what point of the reload did the first issues show up?
