If I may be so bold to suggest one or two: Perhaps modular refining and assembling systems? Refineries that start small and slow, that can grow into monstrous behemoth that converts platinum at 100:1 (I think default islike 100:0.01), and makes Cobalt look like sand with how fast it gets refined. Or an assembler that is small and limited, that gets faster the more modules are added, and upgraded to produce better and rarer components (maybe a prototech block that the player builds with components they find?)
