This mod aims to add diversity of gameplay related to different world religions via modifications to in-game religions, new and improved devout interest group ideologies, and new laws.

New Religions
  • Anglicanism and Confucianism have been added to the game, and the Atheist religion has been relabelled as 'Humanism'.
  • Religious traits have been reconfigured for all in-game religions.

New Laws
  • A new law in the Church and State group (Religious Tolerance) accepts all religions with any trait in common with the State Religion. Freedom of Conscience is reworked to only accept religions with a similar heritage trait (eg. Christian, Muslim, Buddhist)
  • New religious law options for policing and bureaucracy that pit landowner and religious interests against each other.
  • A new religious welfare law supported by Sikh and Hindu religions.

Unique Ideologies
  • 40 new ideologies have been added, and each in-game religion has a unique ideological makeup. Some religions have several distinct localizations as well to add additional flavor on top of varied gameplay.

New Minority Faith Interest Group
  • Enabled in all countries without the State Religion law
  • Dynamically calculated and updated periodically based on the religious makeup of the country to represent the most populous non-state religion
  • Unique ideologies for each in-game religion that oppose state religious control over the areas like schooling that the faith tradition is most interested in
  • Draws from the country's minority religion, or from any pop under the State Atheism law

Reworked State Atheism mechanics
  • The newly-renamed Humanism(Atheism), Confucianism, and Buddhist religions all have an 'Atheist' trait.
  • Any country with an 'Atheist' state religion may adopt State Atheism without changing their existing State Religion.
  • Countries with a theist state religion will have their State Relgion changed to Humanism when adopting State Atheism, but can regain their original state religion back if they move away from State Atheism.
  • Countries with a Humanist state religion will see the Devout interest group deactivated (though the Minority Faith interest group will be more popular under State Atheism).

Other Business
  • Appears to be compatible with Victoria Tweaks Mod. I haven't checked with anything else.
  • Please feel free to reuse whatever portions are interesting to you in your own mods or translations, though I'd love a mention if you do

Much delayed update that confirms 1.6 compatibility and makes the following changes:
- better setup for minority faiths IG leader that uses a more appropriate culture (ie. no more white englishmen in charge of the hindu priesthood in the EIC)
- moved demographic setup from history/pops to scripted setup in history/global, which should make compatibility easier moving forward

Could you please make it compatible with Change Culture and Religion? I'm really interested in your return-to-the-previous-state-religion mechanic. It's weird to see that a country that enacts state atheism cannot undo atheism as their state religion upon restoring previous church and state law. Current day Russia may be a good example against the vanilla mechanic. Thank you.

A good point. I think I could likely fix this, but I would need to manually create the leader for the minority devout IG instead of letting the game do it for me.

To be fair, the reason Sri Lankan Buddhism even HAS its scriptures fully intact is because an Englishman translated them using fully intact London copies versus the local incomplete works... and in the process, was so moved that he converted to Buddhism himself.

Cool mod, one thing that bothers me is only accepted/primary cultures being able to be the leaders of Interest Groups. I don't know if this is something that can even be changed. But seeing some random english guy being the leader of the "Hindu Priesthood" in EIC really breaks the immersion for me.

I would love to see compatibility with the Victorian Flavor Mod. It adds a lot of new religions, although the generic pagans and most Protestants could all be condensed.

1.5 update is live. Most of the work in this mod is done with effects on game start, so it should be save game compatible.

I hope that this Mod may one day be given support for the big Flavor Expanded Mod. It adds a lot of religions, although some of them (the division of the pagans based on each continent) could just all use the same one.

A few updates are in the works. First, I need to get up to date with 1.5 - I'm mostly there but the inclusion of corporatism in the base game caught me by surprise.
Secondly, I want to start adding in some narrative content for different religions, as most underwent some serious changes over the games timeframe. Catholicism is up first: I have some journal entries and things mapped out for both the first Vatican council and the rise of catholic social teaching / rerum novarum that I want to get to.

I haven't checked compatibility with the more faiths mod. They likely won't break each other, but I think they'll probably have some conflicts in initial setup values and things that may cause some odd behaviors.
