BM Mod - Gates of Hell

Description


From the original author of a popular mod for Men of War!
Limbs and wailings will fly high above the burning battlefield, blood will flow through the misshapen landscape, air will thicken with gunpowder and death - the Gates of Hell are wide open in this reworked conversion of the 2011 classics!



- Explosives and vehicles have a chance of ripping a soldier apart on contact
- Blood decals have been reworked, adding more variety and subtle details
- The number of decals, debris and bodies have been increased, along with their lifetime
- Original handmade 3D models and textures based on vanilla game
- NEW! You can pick up some of the body parts and throw them at your enemies, or just store them on your belt as a trophy

* This mod disables unlocking of Achievements
** Did my best to optimize all values, model complexity, and texture size to have a minimal impact on game performance



Multiplayer compatibility has been confirmed by one of the subcribers*
*although I haven't tested it myself

Only a handful of files has been edited, and BM Mod should work fine with other mods that do not alter materials' properties.
You are welcome to leave a comment in case of compatibility issues, and I will look into it. Screenshots of the crash message or in-game bugs are very welcome too.

Always load/activate as the last mod on your list ( Main menu --> Extras ).

The chance of corpse/body explosion depends on the blast power or vehicle size and a flat 30% chance when explosion is triggered. In other words, small AP grenades or a motorbike will cause way fewer explosions, in comparison to a 150 mm HE shell or a heavy tank.

Currently, the following mod options are available:

"___high_res_textures"
Copy and overwrite to try high resolution textures for the bodyparts.

Location of the textures:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\400750\2922646932
( to make sure you are in the correct folder, you can open a file called "preview.jpg" - it will show the same "BM Mod" image as on Steam workshop page )

im sorry for bothering i know you are busy but if you find the time to work on the mod again it seems to need an update for 1.055.0 cuz it crashes when you enable this mod

my apologies for not doing any updates
as i have mentioned earlier, i am a very grown up man with a full time job, and i have recently bought a house, so its hard to find the necessary motivation for updates
i would gladly let someone take over from here, to continue development and updates
you only need the 3D-assets provided with this version of the mod, while the rest of the files can be overwritten by an updated version, so pretty much anyone can keep this mod updated, by releasing a "patch" or "submod"
that being said, i will do my best to dedicate one of the upcoming evenings to make an update

compatibility with other mods can be tricky, and i simply dont have the energy - its not hard or complicated, but its very tedious and takes hours of testing and such

It's still working fine, but I'd like to see the smoke appear as a square in west81 mode fixed. I can't play the game without this mod anymore.

it makes you unable to progress in first german mission, the 2 soviet vehicles (armored car and t26) wont spawn

Not compatible with ARM on my end, tried loading this mod in multiple orders but nothing.

For some crazy reason, I'm fairly certain that this mod prevents progression in the 1st bonus mission of Jubilee ("Red Tide"): the second objective to fire the flare near the lighthouse cannot be completed. I tested multiple times to isolate the fault, so I can safely say that this mod is causing the issue, for whatever reason.
