Description




Escape Your Problems


After the release of the latest annual safety reports, the S.T.S.B (Space Travel Safety Board) discovered an alarming lack of onboard space craft safety equipment, particularly In regards to emergency escape systems. This lack of emergency systems In most ships has lead to the creation of the E-SCP (Emergency.Self.Contained.Pod) system. As Its name somewhat suggests the E-SCP system Is an automated, self contained, escape pod module (featuring 8 individual escape pods) that is designed to be easily integrated into new ship designs or grafted into medium or large scale pre-existing ships.

Functional: YES
Buildable : Not impossible, but somewhat complicated

2 Launch bays
Automated launch after activation
Easy to snap to existing ships


Notes
===========

No scripts are used in this build.

By default, once activated you have 1 min before the pods launch. ( you can increase time through the timer called Countdown )

To launch, trigger the timer named Launch Escape Pods ( you can add a button or other means to trigger this timer )

The pods, once launched will accelerate for 30 sec, then the thrusters will shut off and gyros turn on.

I don't recommend launching escape pods while moving at high speed.

Hey just wanted to tell you that the parachutes open to late... the escape pods just crash into the ground and explode... i can change that by myself but i just wanted to let you know

@ Abisius: yes for construction In survival, the pods must be built individually. you can make a BP of all 8 pods or just a BP of one pod and change Its number ( pod 1, pod 2, pod 3 Etc ) each time.
after the pods are built, and connected, you would have to set the launchers timers to turn on each pods thruster, activate each pods timer, and detach each rotor, In a sequance of pod 1 & pod 8, pod 2 and pod 7, etc.

This is why I said a survival build Is not impossible, but It Is a little complicated.

@Abisius it really isn't that hard. Without the Multi-Grid Projector Plugin build the main structure where you want it. Have a small grid ship printer and print the Escape Pods (either one by one or have them all ready to go on a Rack). Open the Hangar doors and use a small tug to move the escape pods into position to be connected to the Rotors. Do some quick setup and done.

didnt read something about creative in the moddescription, only thing refering to a gamemode is this:

and this did lead to my question cause "somewhat conmplicated" can mean a few different things.

so for someone to want to build this in a pure survival world it would need some adjustments or preparing with a seperate bp für the pods.

@war wolf while redisigning I notice that you have room in the pod for one more timer.
maybe the launch could entirely be done from the pod instead of the ship, add one button inside the shipe to trigger the launch sequence but the last step to release the pod and launch thruster could be done from the pod

@ Siam Launching one by one would have needed a few more timers and I was trying to keep the cost down. They do launch In pairs and you can increase the length In the timers to spread out the launches a bit.

@ Abisius: as the description says above, building this in creative, while not impossible, Is complicated, each pod has to be built individually and put into place ( a deal breaker for some I know ). There are some mods/scripts out there that allow sub-grid projections, but I don't have any experience with them. I think we all wish Keen would just make sub-grid projections a reality already.

Brilliant. Love it. I don't want to "look a gift horse in the mouth" but, I tend to build four man crewed ships, so any chance of a smaller version?

@Abisius there's a Plugin for Space Engineers that allows you to print Subgrids. I believe it even works for connected small subgrids for large grid printing but I haven't used it much yet
