After months of waiting, Freezing Point: Director's Cut is finally here as a new download! With longer levels, a brand new map, and a whole lot of improvements, it's the definitive version of this campaign.

Don't worry, I've made the director's cut a separate add-on in case you still prefer the short version. I have no plans to delete or change the original Freezing Point campaign, so it will be preserved as-is.

From the creator of Time to Die, explore the frozen wilderness of Minnesota in this full-length campaign! Search for key items to progress, but don't worry -- these environments are still easy to navigate.

Freezing Point is a campaign made entirely by one person (that's me!) over the course of a year and some change. The difficulty and average completion time is on par with what you'd expect from an official Valve campaign, but with an extra layer of weirdness added on top.

While Freezing Point is not the longest campaign out there, clocking in at 40 minutes max if you explore every room, many events and items have been randomized to make each playthrough unique. I highly recommend playing through this campaign multiple times to see everything it has to offer.

Do you ever think it's awkward when you play a custom campaign and the survivors never talk to each other? Freezing Point has got you covered, with over a dozen new conversations made by remixing survivor dialogue into natural-sounding exchanges. NPCs with new dialogue are also included!

Survivors will call out directions, they'll update each other on events, and they'll have a chat in every safe room. Many lines also have multiple variations thanks to the power of randomization. In particular, each safe room has at least five possible conversations.

Freezing Point also features map achievements for crafty players, many of which are related to finding easter eggs. See if you can earn them all based on these descriptions!

- MASTER OF UNLOCKING - Open the locked gate in less than 30 seconds

- WHAT A MANSION - Activate the secret elevator in less than 2 minutes

- ALL IS BRAWL - Listen to a secret conversation between two scrubby mercenaries

MAP 3: SECRET LAB

- POINTLESS PARKOUR - Leap over the barricade in the frozen laboratory from the wrong side

- YOU TRIED - Break the controls to an inaccessible door

MAP 4: GAUNTLET FINALE

- TRUSTED FRIEND IN SCIENCE - Find and complete the secret challenge rooms

- GNOME SWEET GNOME - Interrupt someone's private relaxation without knocking

NEW BONUS! As of Feb. 9, 2024, the user 17 has made a mod for Freezing Point that adds a bunch of brand new CUSTOM INFECTED MODELS to the campaign. I had nothing to do with this, so it's not official or canon — but give it a try if you want a more immersive experience.

Hi, Kyle here. I don't have many people to thank since this campaign was a solo effort, but I'd like to start by thanking my wife for being a constant source of emotional support since I started this project in November 2020.

I'd also like to extend my gratitude to users RF, Flex, and especially AlwaysToast for helping me fix specific bugs in the 1.1, 1.2, and 1.3 patches respectively.

After Time to Die wrapped up, Freezing Point was an experiment to teach myself how to do new things in Left 4 Dead. It's intentionally short and replayable, just like the Resident Evil games that inspired it. This campaign was supposed to come out last December, but it was delayed by several months because of a computer upgrade gone wrong. I guess it's still technically winter, right?

Freezing Point is fully playable on Steam Deck, tested by yours truly. At the highest graphics settings, there are occasional frame rate drops during intense action (45 FPS minimum). The custom HUD elements also get covered up by the new Deck-exclusive HUD for Left 4 Dead 2. Other than that, I had no issues.
