Description
A custom true-start map pack containing five huge (106x66) Earth maps themed around the Americas

REQUIRES GATHERING STORM EXPANSION

Maps included are:
  • North America
  • South America
  • Caribbean
  • Mesoamerica
  • Andes

Want both North and South America on one map? See my Huge Earth Map Pack

Resources are placed manually, corresponding to real-world deposits and for game balance

All Civs are playable on each map. Civs whose capitals aren't on a particular map instead have their spawn point randomly selected from a pool of pre-set locations.

Feel free to edit and use these maps as you please, including with your own mods. All I ask is to be credited if you re-upload my work!

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Why are some maps inaccurate?
A: Some landmasses have been scaled up to allow for game balance. I've tried my best to maintain accurate landmass shapes to make these changes less obvious, but some sacrifices must be made when converting real world geography to game tiles.

Q: Do city names correspond with their real-world location like in YnAMP?
A: No. This is simply because I don't know how to do that. If I ever learn how I might give it a try, but for now I want to keep my mod as simple as possible to increase compatibility with other mods.

Q: Where does Pedro II, Roosevelt, Montezuma, etc... spawn?
A: All leaders spawn where their capital city is. This means Pedro II spawns in Rio de Janeiro, Roosevelt in Washington, Montezuma in Tenochtitlan/Mexico City, etc... However modded leaders for those civs will spawn at the country's modern-day capital (eg. a new Brazilian leader will spawn in Brasilia). Feel free to edit the map files if you want to change this.

Q: Will there be a Base Game or Rise and Fall compatible version?
A: I'm currently working on making these, however I'm waiting for the Gathering Storm version to be satisfactory first. This ensures that the Base and R&F versions will be better quality when they do come out.

Q: Will you make more maps?
A: Yes!

Q: How do I keep the camera rotated for some of the maps?
A: This is the solution I used: https://steamcommunity.com/app/289070/discussions/0/340412122410046153/

Q: Help! I've encountered a bug!
A: Let me know in the comment section on the mod's Steam Workshop page and I'll try my best to fix it.

Q: Which mods work well with these maps?
A: I recommend Gedemon's YnAMP - Closer Cities, totalslacker's Loyal Capitals, and either p0kiehl's Larger Map Sizes OR Gedemon's Yet (not) Another Maps Pack for an increased max number of civs.

Known Bugs and Issues:
  • Currently some maps made with the in-game world builder don't have river flooding, polar ice melting, or the ability to create dams. Unfortunately there is nothing I can do to fix that right now.
  • Unfortunately having random spawns for city-states bugs the game when starting later than the ancient era. As a compromise, I have chosen pre-set spawns for all city-states on all maps, even those without true spawn locations (eg. Hong Kong). I'll revert city-states back to semi-random spawns as soon as a solution is found.

Lovely map, unfortunately it keeps spawning me in the southern part of the map, not north nor center. Only California peninsula, California or Oregon.

Is there a way you can allow random resources to be placed on the map rather than predefined, like Sparse/Abundant?

I tried playing this map with Gaul, the Andes one, and it kept spawning me on the border of the map. Never anywhere close to the middle.

Cool map! Wish it included Hawaii, though...

@ [CARCOSA] Lotus Negra, ianmcdonough: I agree with you both and will likely update along with the latest DLC

@CynicalPlatapus: Can you tell me which 3 maps?

@mcsharples1: I'll look into that, although I don't remember Alaska being that rough. In any case Alaska's not exactly known for having a hospitable environment.

@Crowzur: I do! And you might need to either replace the map file with your new one in the mod's folder, or make a simple map mod specifically for your one. Hope that helps. Can't say I've had your issues before though so it's hard to say what'll fix it.

Do you plan to update this with Maya and Gran Columbia?

I tired setting their spawn locations myself in the world builder, but it never worked and everyone spawned randomly (and also soft-locked whenever I met a new civ)

who thought it was a good idea to make alaska a starting position with no strategic resources a million mountains and a fuck ton of volcanoes and about 200 tiles until you get to farmable land

i can't enable 3 of the maps as it says the viking dlc is required?

I would love to see a North America map with a navigable Mississippi and St. Lawrence river similar to how the Amazon is in the South America map
