Overview
The Spider Nests (Monster Mod) introduces 5 new spider species to the 4 core Hamlet dungeons. The spiders have a variety of abilities and will be a TACTICAL CHALLENGE with new battles variations. They appear in spider clusters and are integrated with base monsters.

Phase 2: Trinkets and Summoning
Phase 2 introduces 10 Spider Trinkets, 5 Spider Summoning Heirlooms, and 4 New Maps with 12 quests! Complete quests to earn Spider Trinkets + powerful Spider Heirlooms. Created by an enchanter, the Spider Heirlooms can summon charmed spiders to fight for the party! Spiders will attack, protect or heal the party! Summoning Magic can only be sustained for a few rounds. Note: There are positive + negative side effects for attacking a charmed spider! Summoning Magic requires 1 EMPTY ENEMY RANK or CORPSE, so work quickly to defeat 1 enemy!

Difficulty = Very Hard
TIP! This is a tactically challenging monster mod. Even with great preparation, like the base game, unluckiness can destroy you in a second. As you learn, however, there are helpful strategies.

Rio Thanks for the report and followup!

Update: using the staff with a different character in the same dungeon and no problems at all. So I guess it's a Martial Saint-specific problem.

Hey, not sure if anyone has mentioned this. I'm getting consistent CTDs after using the Astral Staff of Summoning in the Vermintide dungeons and successfully summoning the spider, with the Martial Saint. The skill I'm using is Towering Presence.

SpyrousMonk Thanks for the honest feedback! Can totally see your perspective on many points. Some of your requests just aren't possible with the limits of modding. The Summons are tricky since there are different "levels" of them and you have to clear an enemy spot first And be lucky to summon And have a good level summon for the monster tier of the dungeon to be useful, but i've really enjoyed watching online players and videos and with the summons and they are fun random assistance that can really help with spider quests since as you noted, are generally one level more difficult than listed tier. Disease resist and curing of disease cure camping skills can help mitigate the effects of gaining diseases. Happy hunting!

4) The heirlooms are frankly...terrible. Like, unusable-status bad. It always comes down to this for me to use them; "Do they summon an OP spider for me to cheese fights?". If they do, they are pretty Ancestral tier imo(which is nice, considering they are utility based and not stats, so theres a tradeoff) but if they DON'T summon spiders, they are GARBAGE. And the set bonus for any of them is both too specific(even though they appear everywhere) and too weak to justify using TWO of them on one character. But this is very easy to fix; the non summoning heirlooms should just go more ham on their effects. 13% stun bonus is not much for an entire slot, but I might bat an eye at a 30% bonus, for example.

So yeah, I'd give this mod an honest 3/5 stars. 4/5 stars if you enjoy suffering or want to justify some slightly OP custom classes/reworks. If the above points are addressed a bit, I'd be thrilled honestly, as the design is both elegant and unique.

3) Glass spiders having a death explosion is a NEAT idea...but damage(low, but still), bleed AND stress for something that cannot be avoided is cheap. I'd suggest at least ONE avenue of counterplay(having them stunned before death, killing them via blight/bleed, criting them could justify it).

Okay, so, after playing with this mod for about 20 hours I can safely provide some feedback.

Overall: I LIKE the idea of this mod. I really do. A new enemy type that infests every region and has both its own encounters and mixes with the base rabble is very cool. I also appreciate(a little masochistically) the focus of the encounters being status, summons, stress and blight, instead of crits that a lot of late game monsters default to.

BUT, this mod has some glaring flaws;
1) Getting diseases from HITTING the enemy is terrible design. The diseases are also nasty, so this is doubly feelsbadman. You can keep it as a mechanic, but in my opinion, having it be more frequent by getting ATTACKED would be more ideal.
2) Stone spooders having a TWO target stun is a little too brutal. It also does a lot of damage and seems to ignore rank placement, so not much outplaying there.

Awesome mod, very good at all, the only question is, the glass spider desth explosion is avoidable somehow?
Nitsah Feb 10 @ 8:50am
Well that is weird I reactivated it and it's not overpopulating now. My mistake ignore my previous comment.
dem22  [author] Feb 8 @ 10:32pm
Nitsah Perhaps you have mod conflicts; that should not be happening, there are 4 spider quest maps with different levels, and also mixed encountered groups but nothing like your are describing has ever been reported. Good hunting.
