Description
This famous television and movie star started life in 1941 as a Minesweeper (hence her wooden hull); she was built by the Ballard Marine Railway company of Seattle, Washington, loaned to the British under lend-lease and commissioned into the British Royal Navy as HMS J-826 in 1943 and served with distinction throughout WW2 in the Mediterranean. After the war she briefly served as a ferry in Malta, where she also was finally given a name, Calypso. World renowned explorer, diver, inventor, and author Jacques-Yves Cousteau purchased her in 1950 and together they sailed the world exploring, filming, and educating; in an effort to help save and preserve the life that dwells in its oceans.

Stormworks Calypso:
This version of Calypso is an amalgamation of several decades of rebuilds and modifications. She has a fully and accurately detailed interior, minus the bilge. I followed the blueprints and cross sections of Cousteau's own book to the letter, and only made allowances where space (due to game shortcomings) was an issue.

Range:
200km at 10 kts
150km at 13+ kts

Ship Operation:
I have posted two video tutorials with the assorted screenshots that explain how to start the engines as well as operation of some of the sub-systems.
*Note: I made them both after work when I was dead tired so I will apologize in advance for any muttering, mumbling, or rambling. I would often use names interchangeably, again just because I was tired. Also I'm an Army grunt, not a sailor so I often don't use the proper vernacular. Sorry in advance. Also I know its a "DisTILler" and not a "DiTELLer". :D

Yagi Antenna Usage:
With the Yagi antenna you can tune one of three different satellites that were actually used by the crew of Calypso in the 1970s, NIMBUS 4, NOAA 2 or ATS 3. NIMBUS 4 and NOAA 2 are polar orbiting weather satellites and will become available roughly every 100 in-game minutes and must be tracked using the Yagi Antenna (by physically moving the antenna array) and their positions are constantly changing as they pass over you. ATS 3 is a geo-stationary satellite and is used to send data via the fax machine. While it's always available the Yagi Antenna will have to be moved in order orient it with the satellite, and this will vary based upon the ships current heading. Reference the picture above to find out the frequencies on which the satellites transmitting/receiving.

Map Table Usage:
The Map Table is now functional and can be used for plotting by pressing the 'Q' and 'E' keys on any two given positions on the map.
Pressing the 'C' button on the map will center the map over your ship. However, the accuracy of your position will drift over time and will need to be corrected by either being in shallow water near an island, pressing the Sextant which will update your position for 30 seconds, or tuning either the NIMBUS 4 or NOAA 2 satellites when they become available. As long as you track the satellite your position will be updated and maintained.
*Note: The Sextant will only be available when the weather is fair enough for it's use.

*Note: Another thing I forgot to mention in regards to the Switch Keys throughout the boat. If the Key is labeled as a "Valve" it DOES NOT require you to power it with electricity. Otherwise if it says "Pump" or something of that nature it does require electricity.

If you want, play this song in the background while out exploring:

John Denver actually composed most of this song while aboard Calypso, can you find his guitar?

Useless trivia time:
R/V Calypso was supposedly up until the early 1990's the most filmed and photographed ship in history. Can you guess which ship edged it out for the #1 slot?

Hint: Her career was much less successful, she had four funnels, and hit an ice berg.

MOST RECENT UPDATE: 10 JUNE 2023
- Greatly improved Side Scan Sonar fidelity
- Improved Radar Functionality
- Fixed Aft Cargo Spotlights swinging issues

Thanks to Sengir_Vampire for the Radar/Lidar. I modified it to fit my purposes, so don't be angry at the creator if it doesn't work.

oh so i dont need to charge the tanks to open the doors anymore the compressors just charge
GERUNIMO  [author] Jun 20 @ 7:26am
jackriley427, sorry you're having trouble.
I believe I removed that feature at some point in exchange for a power system that recharges the diving gear when the 4K compressors are running.

hey so i manged to go back to an older version of storm works when she still ran and i noticed that the diving equipment doors dont lock and i cant find a micro controller that would connect to them am i missing something?

I gotta say that I play Stormworks all the time as a past time. I love ships with not so straight forward startup procedures, I like figuring them out. When i found the Calypso when you first released it, it was the most realistic startup procedure I had seen at that point. Can't wait to see her back on the ocean.

@jackriley427, please stop pestering GERI, remember that he is doing this in his free time for the love of the game and the ship, not for You specifically. it will be done when it's done, just be patient.
