About the Mod

This mod mainly focuses on building an alter-history scenario in a strategic view based on HoI4. The mod uses and expands basic storyline of Mental Omega 3.0, one of the most recommended mod of C&C: Red Alert 2.

Introduction of storyline

After the end of the Second World War in our timeline, Albert Einstein developed a time machine in order to prevent the Nazi Party from gaining power and starting the war. Einstein went back in time to 1924, to Landsberg Prison in Germany, where Adolf Hitler had just been released after serving his sentence for his role in the Bavarian Beer Hall Putsch. After meeting Hitler outside the prison, Einstein erased him from the timeline.

However, without the Third Reich to challenge it, the Soviet Union under Joseph Stalin grew unchecked. Territory within Europe continent had been reshuffled under western powers' appeasement policy toward the Soviet Union's aggressive stance, resulting much of Eastern Europe were colonized by the USSR without firing a single shot. In 1946, the USSR launched multiple offensive operations aimed to conquer West Europe, Middle-East Asia and Republic of China, which had just survived from the 9-year lasting second Sino-Japanese War.

Thanks to solidarity within Allied Nations, Albert Einstein and his Chronosphere Project and massive material help from the United States of America, the war ended in a total defeat of USSR in 1953. Most of the puppet countries have been liberated from the control of Moscow, however the reason Washington D.C. allowed existence of a Socialism Russia was unknown to the majority on the world. After the war was over, America stepped in and aided in reconstruction efforts, which included appointing Premier Alexander Romanov, a distant relative of the ex-royal family, and a Communist figure who promoted peace, as the nation's new leader and a puppet loyal to White House.

The solidarity disappeared swiftly as the spark burned in Suez Crisis in 1956. The British Empire authorized multiple rapid assault operations using Chronoshift, destroyed Egypt government and recolonized that land once more. United States instantly announced abortion of financial help to any country supporting British and French, and higher autonomy had been given to her loyal Russian Government as a warning to the European Nations. Protest against America and Russia spread widely, from London to Athens, and from Madrid to Warsaw. Within few years, an economic and military cooperation organization was founded in Brussel, called European Alliance.

In the East part of the world, CPC successfully seized power from the puppet government established by Moscow, declared the foundation of PRC in 1952. However, the failure of global communism movement prevented Beijing from spreading revolution to the world. Instead, a secret treaty with American was signed, allowing open trade and liberation of South Korea as an exchange of independence guarantee and industrial help from the US. Meanwhile, Japan had achieved her miracle economic growth during the war as a reward of being an advancing base for the US army in Asia, but still being controlled politically and militarily by GHQ.

The new Cold War between Washington D.C. and London continued, and not changed until late 1960s. Due to unknown reasons, the US intelligence network in Russia had been destroyed silently, and protest of US military occupation continually grew from Moscow to Vladivostok. Pentagon was questioned by civil for the financial losses and military causalities during the mission. In 1972, the Congress passed an order to abort occupation of Russia SSR, Ukraine and Belarus, and a terrorist attack in East Ukraine even accelerated it. In the same year, Japan announced her independence from the United States in a legal and authorized public election unexpectedly. By enacting and integrating some old zaibatsu (financial clique), Japan once again back on the top of the world. To counter an increasing influential power from China, Japan offered an alliance for the Republic of Korea and Indonesia under military government dictatorship. Commonwealth of Australia and New Zealand later joined this alliance to avoid allying with US or Britain and angering the opposite.

Since the American troop entered Sudan Republic in 1970, the year after the victorious of Sudan Independence War, tension within the west part of the world had been on the verge of breaking out. In South Asia, Indian Nationalists arose from the failure of the three Indian-Pakistan War. Far beyond the world could imagine, a rapid and fierce retaliation in 1976 let the Indian retake what they claimed to be the lost lands. Covered by the global conflicts, one and another cargos of “goods” were departed from Vladivostok to Port Manzanillo in the name of Kremlin so-called “humanitarian aid”. Very soon, a fire of revolution burned across Mexico and Cuba, and later Venezuela, Columbia and Nicaragua in late 1977. The reborn of communism thought had put all democratic nations in panic again, for they barely had resource to interfere just as they did in Germany in 1930s. Interestingly, Kremlin quickly promised the world to deal with the local socialists, peacefully. Agreed and supervised by the America, Russia formed a financial and trading alliance called World Socialist Alliance, or WSA in short, including all those new parties. Order was then brought back to those countries surprising fast.

The world seemed to be stabilized then, as a consequence of the major powers being rebalanced. It is the last year of Seventies, 26 years after the bloodiest war ever happened in the history of humanity. The flood of world is simmering, and nobody can foresee the future…

What have been done?

- 70% of map settings including countries and states had been done.
- Design of National Focus of Russian Federation has been done and is implementing.
- National Focus of European Alliance is currently under designing stage.
- And some other minor staffs.

What is planned to be done?

Currently we have planned to do something to build the first playable version of this mod. This may include:

- Full changes to the map according to history design
- 2 of 4 focus trees for the United States, European Alliance, Soviet Russia or PRC
- Events, decisions, national ideas and traits for those focuses
- A complete scenario for American or European Theatre
- It would definitely be better if we could have unique loading and menu screens!

What can I help?

Currently we need modder for almost every aspect of the mod – coder, copywriter, historian, artist and focus designer. You’re especially welcomed if you have experience of playing Mental Omega or at least Red Alert 2 and being familiar with the storyline, but that is not a basic requirement. Both Chinese and English speakers will be helpful to our team.
