Advanced Cultivation

The aim of Advanced Cultivation is to diversify the farming experience in Rimworld. To this aim, soil has been reworked and tilling, composting, and fertilizer have been introduced!

Overwritten Vanilla Ground
  • Soil
    • Fertility: 70%
  • Rich Soil
    • Fertility: 100%
  • Marshy Soil
    • Fertility: 70%
    • Dries to: Rich Soil
  • Gravel
    • Fertility: 40%
  • Lichen-Covered Dirt
    • Fertility: 70%
  • Mud
    • Dries to: Rich Soil

Tilling
  • Tilling soil gives a 30% fertility boost
  • Soil must be re-tilled after each harvest

New Terrain
  • Fertilized Soil
    • Has 100% fertility
    • Costs 1 Fertilizer to construct
  • Enriched Soil
    • Has 130% fertility
    • Costs 1 Enriched Fertilizer to construct
  • Miracle Soil
    • Has 170% fertility
    • Costs 1 Miracle Fertilizer to construct

New Items
  • Raw Compost
    • Requires the "Composting" research
    • Costs .25 nutrition (~5 meat) per compost
    • Can be crafted in batches of 5
    • Craft at crafting spot or butcher table
  • Fermented Compost
    • Raw Compost naturally ferments over time (10 days by default)
    • Compost Bins allow compost to ferment faster (6 days by default)
  • Fertilizer
    • Requires the "Simple Cultivation" research
    • Costs 5 fermented compost per fertilizer
    • Craft at a Butcher Table or Drug Lab
  • Enriched Fertilizer
    • Requires the "Advanced Cultivation" research
    • Costs 7 fermented compost and 2 psychite tea per fertilizer
    • Craft at a Drug Lab
  • Miracle Fertilizer
    • Requires the "Miracle Cultivation" research
    • Costs 10 fermented compost and 3 flake per fertilizer
    • Craft at a Drug Lab

Compatibility
Mods which add soil for growing will not have tilled versions of that soil, and so it cannot be tilled. Other than that, there are no known compatibility issues.

Fertility Note
If you don't like the increased difficulty from the soil changes, feel free to modify the Patches/Vanilla_Overwrites_AC.xml.

Is it still broken? Because I can't get from raw compost to fermented compost. The raw compost is fermenting but after the time it is not fermented compost and thus I am unable to make fertilizer.

Haha I totes understand. Took me months to update the tiny mod I have because I was doing so many other things and I never properly learned how to mod Rimworld. I'm in the process of slowly deconstructing one of my favorite discontinued mods right now and seeing if I can fix it (Dampening Belts) but I keep getting distracted by life so its slow going.

@Ralathar44 No promises; I'm a father of 3 young children, working full time, and preparing for/dealing with the fascist takeover in the land of the free; but I'll see what I can do. Hopefully Rimworld core code hasn't changed much and it's a simple update.

Also, the repo is public on Github. Anyone can fork and take it over.

I agree; I made this mod because there wasn't anything like it. I like to add content and maintain balance instead of removing content by adding OP content. My philosophy is it's ultimate a removal of content if the new content trivializes existing content.

I went full circle to basically no major farming overhaul again. Other farming mods tend to either be brokenly OP and just massively increase your farming for little cost or are super fiddly requiring you to manage plant scraps or seeds or something that just ends up as inventory glut.

I DO miss this mod.

I really liked this mod, but I think it broke with 1.5. I hope it gets resolved, but I haven't been able to fix it with patches and other adjustments.

I practically lost all agriculture functions on my old saves and new maps and have started to collect other farming mods.

I don't want to be annoying incase you already looked but, I posted a bug report in bug reports section and I noticed it's been a while since you last commented in there just wondering if you've seen the log.
