Byzantine Army

Description
Requires Death or Dishonor & Waking the Tiger.

This mod is meant to serve as an addition to any other mod featuring Byzantium - so long as it uses the BYZ tag, which I think most Byzantine mods out there, if not all, do.

This began as a personal project as I created my own Byzantine mod to serve as a follow up to my CKII-EUIV grand campaigns. I never really bothered releasing it because there were several other mods that fundamentally did the same thing - adding Byzantium to the game - with more depth and details, and better thought out backstories.

I did however create a bunch of graphical assets that I feel are worth sharing, including a pretty extensive Byzantine army roster, featuring unique infantry, marine, paratrooper & mountaineer textures (all based on the Italian infantry model) as well as a tank retexture (based on the Italian heavy tank model to serve as the Byzantine medium, heavy & modern armor).

Acclimatization is supported as well.

This mod won't change the appearance of vanilla HOI4's Byzantium, because it is essentially just Greece with a different name & flag (ie, it uses the GRE tag, not the BYZ one this mod is about). Unlike EUIV, HOI4 doesn't make you switch tags when you form a new nation.

I circumvented the issue by giving Greece this army roster, and released that as a separate mod that you may find at :

Bear in mind this is a completely ahistorical skin pack that has next to nothing to do with what the Greek military actually looked like around WWII.

Anyone is free to use this content as they please if they so wish. Just don't forget to give credit where credit is due.

Be sure to let me know if anything is or looks wrong and I'll look into it.

1.5.2 update : now includes planes & a new, separate modern tank model based on the Hungarian heavy tank.

Does this still work?

@Robin[FRA] its okay, you take you're time and come back when you feel like it. p.s love your work and thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately the way formable nations work in HoI4, forming the Roman Empire won't change the appearance of your units - well at least there's no way to do that that I'm aware of. I could make a separate version for Italy though, but I haven't played HoI4 for a while and I'm really busy these days, so that'll have to wait. Sorry about that.

@Robin[FRA] can you make a version of this for the formable roman empire or italy please?

Should be, yeah.

Hey, will this be compatible with MTG?
Robin[FRA]  [author] Nov 20, 2018 @ 12:21am
Might do that at some point. I haven't really been into HoI4 lately tho so it'll have to wait

Those flags look bomb AF TBH. Maybe consider releasing a flag reskin with those?

It's basically a fictional reskin of Greek military units & planes, yeah. It has no impact on the actual gameplay.

You're welcome !
