Custom 5X and DSMP Assets

Description
NOTE: Run installer if you haven't since March 1, 2024

Using this mod requires more than just subscribing to it. Please follow the install instructions below.

This mod contains some custom assets I created for 5X - The Ultimate Balance Mod. In particular it has alternate ship icons for the hulls added in v4.0 as well as custom planet icons for the added uber biomes and a couple ship modules. I've also included the custom assets used in Morpheus's Diverse Specials and Massive Planets mod (DSMP is not required for this mod). This mod does not change the gameplay in any way; the custom assets are a visual change only.

Installation instructions:
  • Subscribe to the mod.

  • Find the mod's location on your computer. To do this, navigate to the Steam install folder (on Windows, this is located somewhere like C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam), and then go to steamapps\workshop\content\298050\1348895422. Alternately, run a search on your computer for 1348895422.

  • Method 1 (Windows and Linux): Run the Java installer, which is the file named javaInstaller5XAssets.bat (for Windows) or javaInstaller5XAssets.sh (for Linux). Type 1 and hit Enter. After the process completes, the mod is installed and ready for use.

  • Method 2 (manual installation): Extract the Custom 5X Assets.zip file. From the Steam installation folder, navigate to Steam\steamapps\common\Master of Orion\MasterOfOrion_Data\StreamingAssets (alternately, locate the Master of Orion install folder on your computer and go to MasterOfOrion_Data\StreamingAssets) and copy the assets folder you extracted from the zip here, merging it with the existing assets folder. The mod is then ready for use.

When using this mod, it should be moved below 5X in the mods menu in game, and it should be active.

I'm open to adding more custom assets to MoO, but my photoshop skills are very limited. If you have any special requests for custom assets (2D ones like icons and banners only), I can see about adding them. If you feel you could create and contribute your own custom icons to this mod, I would be happy to include them!

This mod affects icons only, not textures. The only mod I know that affects textures in the Resource Pack mod which is rather buggy at times.

Hi, I'm having an issue where the cybernetic texture isn't showing up, instead replaced with a black and white mesh with 'invalid' written on it. I'm not sure whats causing it; i have reinstalled the mod at least once, so it might be a load order issue?

Cross posting over here, based on your posted mod order, you likely did not follow the manual installation process for the unofficial code patch, which would have given you two unofficial code patch mods in your mod order instead of one. Please check that. Also Diverse Specials goes above 5XCPC in your mod order.

I had the pleasure of installing and playing this last week. This has been pc crack. I have stayed up till 4 am twice this week and said to myself… I have two more hours in me. From the bottom of my heart, thank you. It’s been a while since I played a game this intoxicating. I am now setting alarms to get me to pause. I’m now sleeping at 4 am and working back to normal.
