It still works in 1.4.3 (tested with Avali armor)

Anyone tested yet if this works with 1.4?

All mod-clothes on the posed mannequins are deleted or replaced with this green perfect cube.

what about save when uninstalling mod?

Great mod, gender swap button is an added bonus. We still need a sitting mannequin though.
Mr.Mvtt Jul 11, 2017 @ 7:53pm
@skell.E ah np, might ask the host to see if they can add QoL mods in it even though most mods ran on it are either client or admin made
skellebean  [author] Jul 11, 2017 @ 4:29am
@Testament.exe (Krazy K) I believe (as with most mods which add new items to the game) it is server-side. If you are running it on a server and someone who joins doesn't have it installed, they will just crash out when beaming to a world/ship which has any of the new mannequins placed in it.
Mr.Mvtt Jul 11, 2017 @ 12:45am
btw, is this client or server side? want to know before hand since I'm making a area for "classy"/"wealthy" citizens

@Gater Duck:
I'm not familiar with that item but I think I understand. Are you suggesting a system in which you equip the armor to a mannequin, have it take multiple pictures of the item in various poses and then spit out an animated decorative item that runs through those various images? That might be doable if it used premade pieces from vanillia armors and popular mods to assemble the item. Don't know about making them on-the-fly, though.

@Gator Duck
Maybe it would be a two-three mannequin wide hologram, with two wire parts that you can connect to buttons in order to upload.
Cat Bread Jul 8, 2017 @ 6:17am
@skell.E
Another idea...like the digital picture frames we have that cycle through uploaded pics, would it be possible to make a holographic mannequin that cycles through holographic sets of armor we "Upload"??
Baron Von Teapots Jul 7, 2017 @ 10:38pm
for some reason this makes me really want a mannequin race mod
Dr. Fish Jul 7, 2017 @ 4:26pm
Whenever I first read that, I thought you were meaning a holographic projection the followed the player constantly like the dash. So, pretty much just a hologram that shadows the player. That would be pretty awesome.
skellebean  [author] Jul 7, 2017 @ 3:33pm
@Frick Diction I looked into it today after I posted the comment, and it doesn't look very easy. From what I could tell, I'd have to make some significant changes to how the mannequin displays armor, which is not going to be easy.
Sonder Jul 7, 2017 @ 3:31pm
@skell.E I imagine it'd be a lot of work, if you could pull that off though it would be perfect. I could see it easily getting into the alltime most popular mods.
Zipper Kirbo Jul 7, 2017 @ 12:15pm
@skell.E That'd be pretty cool, maybe as an upgrade to the standard mannequin?

That would be just scary.

@Pentaliatix You've made me wonder if animated mannequins (e.g. perhaps a holographic mannequin which goes through the player's run cycle) would be an interesting thing to try...

oh you're right xD i hadn't noticed that before lol - i think i remember reading about it being added way back when

maybe i was thinking about the item preview for armors and clothes and so on
💖 Officer Hotpants 💖 Jul 3, 2017 @ 1:17pm
That sounds good, too.
skellebean  [author] Jul 3, 2017 @ 12:36pm
@Fuyuno There is a gender-swap function built into the mannequins already - when you open up the mannequin there is a button you can press to switch between whether the mannequin displays the male version of armor or the female version.
I would make it so that when you change the gender in this way, it would change the actual texture of the mannequin - however, due to the way that the mannequin is coded, I am not sure if this would be very easy to do. As for building changing the pose as a button into the regular mannequin - that is something that is way above my level of modding at the moment (yes, I did look into it).

In response to your concerns of it cluttering the crafting screen - I am currently planning on updating the mod to include its own crafting table, so you can craft the mannequins seperately without it cluttering the sewing machine. c:

> id be nice to have a button on the vanilla mannequin to change the pose insted, so it doesnt end > up spamming the crafting screen

agreed. xD also a female variant

say, skell.E, any chance for a female version? (not replacement for this, just... addition.)
TheCarrierPrimoris Jul 3, 2017 @ 11:06am
Nice work. Whenever you do decide to revisit this, you can count on my subscription.
Also, nice presentation as well. Unambiguous, excellent preview pictures, and the item IDs up front. Very classy.

look for help on modding forums?
skellebean  [author] Jul 3, 2017 @ 1:30am
@Panda.exe As I said in the description, that is actually the kind of thing I wanted to do when I started making the mod. Unfortunately, that's quite a tricky thing to do, and (since I'm rather new to modding) my skills are limited at the moment. Perhaps when I'm more experienced I'll go back and do this. c:
ZePenuin Jul 2, 2017 @ 10:29pm
can you please try to make it make it an option when you interact with a mannequins to change the pose?
:steamhappy:
Claymore Jul 2, 2017 @ 2:37pm
THANK YOU.
skellebean  [author] Jul 2, 2017 @ 10:30am
@✦ Officer Hot-Pants ✦ That's certainly a possibility. I've been thinking of going more down the mechanical route, perhaps make it look like an actual wood-shaping device, like a lathe. We'll see.
💖 Officer Hotpants 💖 Jul 2, 2017 @ 10:11am
@skell.E:
You could make the station a rack of mannequin parts. Sort of like a clothing rack but with mannequin arms, legs and torsos hanging from a bar with a few heads sitting on top.

skellebean  [author] Jul 2, 2017 @ 2:59am
@𝑴𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒓𝒊𝒐 I did some testing of the situations you described, and this is what I found:

A1) When the host has the mod installed, and someone who joins doesn't, then the person without the mod installed will crash upon entering a world/ship with the mannequins placed. This didn't appear to cause any corruption (the character should still be usable afterwards).

A2) After uninstalling the mod without getting rid of the mannequins beforehand, any placed mannequins will just disappear (along with any armour that is on them), and any mannequins in your inventory turn in to perfectly generic items.
I'm still not 100% sure on this - I tested it about 7 times, 6 times followed what I said above, and once it just crashed (probably just a random crash, so we should probably just ignore it.)

S1) This is a very tempting suggestion. I'll see what I can do.
skellebean  [author] Jul 2, 2017 @ 2:59am
Sorry for the late replies guys! But anyway...
@Dimon65ru (ねこ) Making the climbing pose a mannequin was actually something I considered whilst making the mod. However, I decided not to when I found that a lot of the armour and vanity item sprites in the game do not include art for the climbing animation - I'm assuming this is due to it being completely unused, so when Chucklefish made new armour sprites they didn't bother creating the climbing animation for them. This means that, if I were to make a climbing mannequin, most the the armour would just be completely invisible when you place it on. Thanks for the feedback though!

i had this idea ages ago, thank you!
Tenyoken Jul 1, 2017 @ 11:01pm
Hey, this is a really neat idea! Nice one!
Solzucht Jul 1, 2017 @ 9:33pm
i cant tell how to exactly script one mannequin, but maybe if you could ask someone to do a UI for the base one, which adds a button or two arrows to change the pose, that could help :)
Monario Jul 1, 2017 @ 9:21pm
Wonderful mod! I had plans to make a Zoo of sorts, and now I could put mannequins on each themed "cell" with an outfit that would match, but also striking a pose so the scene would look even more lively :D

A couple questions from a newbie at modding, and a suggestion:
Q1) What would happen if I installed this and a friend joined me, what would they see? would they crash?
Q2) What happens if I have a mannequin somewhere, and for X or Y reason I need to uninstall the mod without taking the modded mannequin back... what could happen then?

S1) I actually like the idea of having to craft the specific mannequin pose you want, it's not hard nor expensive, and it's simple so it's less prone for bugs and what not I'd imagine!
-However I would suggest creating your own crafting table for these, that way you can maybe continue adding more poses (if you wish :)) and not bloat the sewing machine with 100 mannequins :P
