we need a mannequin race

HERE YOU GO
I'm not familiar with that item but I think I understand. Are you suggesting a system in which you equip the armor to a mannequin, have it take multiple pictures of the item in various poses and then spit out an animated decorative item that runs through those various images? That might be doable if it used premade pieces from vanillia armors and popular mods to assemble the item. Don't know about making them on-the-fly, though.
Maybe it would be a two-three mannequin wide hologram, with two wire parts that you can connect to buttons in order to upload.
Another idea...like the digital picture frames we have that cycle through uploaded pics, would it be possible to make a holographic mannequin that cycles through holographic sets of armor we "Upload"??
| Misread title as "Possessed Mannequins". For a second I wondered why anyone would want to
| make a mod like that.
That would be just scary.
maybe i was thinking about the item preview for armors and clothes and so on
I would make it so that when you change the gender in this way, it would change the actual texture of the mannequin - however, due to the way that the mannequin is coded, I am not sure if this would be very easy to do. As for building changing the pose as a button into the regular mannequin - that is something that is way above my level of modding at the moment (yes, I did look into it).
In response to your concerns of it cluttering the crafting screen - I am currently planning on updating the mod to include its own crafting table, so you can craft the mannequins seperately without it cluttering the sewing machine. c:
> id be nice to have a button on the vanilla mannequin to change the pose insted, so it doesnt end > up spamming the crafting screen
agreed. xD also a female variant
say, skell.E, any chance for a female version? (not replacement for this, just... addition.)
Also, nice presentation as well. Unambiguous, excellent preview pictures, and the item IDs up front. Very classy.
You could make the station a rack of mannequin parts. Sort of like a clothing rack but with mannequin arms, legs and torsos hanging from a bar with a few heads sitting on top.
A1) When the host has the mod installed, and someone who joins doesn't, then the person without the mod installed will crash upon entering a world/ship with the mannequins placed. This didn't appear to cause any corruption (the character should still be usable afterwards).
A2) After uninstalling the mod without getting rid of the mannequins beforehand, any placed mannequins will just disappear (along with any armour that is on them), and any mannequins in your inventory turn in to perfectly generic items.
I'm still not 100% sure on this - I tested it about 7 times, 6 times followed what I said above, and once it just crashed (probably just a random crash, so we should probably just ignore it.)
S1) This is a very tempting suggestion. I'll see what I can do.
@Dimon65ru (ねこ) Making the climbing pose a mannequin was actually something I considered whilst making the mod. However, I decided not to when I found that a lot of the armour and vanity item sprites in the game do not include art for the climbing animation - I'm assuming this is due to it being completely unused, so when Chucklefish made new armour sprites they didn't bother creating the climbing animation for them. This means that, if I were to make a climbing mannequin, most the the armour would just be completely invisible when you place it on. Thanks for the feedback though!
A couple questions from a newbie at modding, and a suggestion:
Q1) What would happen if I installed this and a friend joined me, what would they see? would they crash?
Q2) What happens if I have a mannequin somewhere, and for X or Y reason I need to uninstall the mod without taking the modded mannequin back... what could happen then?
S1) I actually like the idea of having to craft the specific mannequin pose you want, it's not hard nor expensive, and it's simple so it's less prone for bugs and what not I'd imagine!
-However I would suggest creating your own crafting table for these, that way you can maybe continue adding more poses (if you wish :)) and not bloat the sewing machine with 100 mannequins :P
