@Fire1 The best thing to get people using buses within a city is spreading the bus stations between the commercial, residential and industrial sections. there is a button on the right to color code them. Try to make them direct point to point routes with little overlap early game and as the game progresses expand them into loops.

Is there a secret to get people to start using public transport. I have waited 7 years and only 1 passenger. I have a bus service in Riverside and two other towns but no people want to travel. There is probably a simple answer

Cheers Maxi. If i remember right the software was called World Machine.

Gorgeous map, also very functional (well to play). My favorite atm! Big compliment:steamhappy:
Btw, what software did you use for design?

Great Map. I love it.
Eresian Aug 5, 2017 @ 7:52pm
I see, that makes sense. Never mind my ignorance then!
Lightnin  [author] Aug 5, 2017 @ 5:44pm
@ruiuth. 'The point' is to use the industry mod if thats the way 'you' like to play.
Eresian Aug 5, 2017 @ 2:52pm
No industries? Uh... what's the point? Passenger transport is boring... But I like the map so I'll give it a try. Maybe I'll make my own version and put industry chains in good places. Then again, freight transport is even worse in this game so I guess it's no great loss.

@algebra. Thank you

Only now I've discovered this beautiful map, I'm really enjoying really a really beautiful map.

I would also advise getting the no roads at start mod, allows you to custom place winding roads to match tracks.

I use GIMP which also has the blurring tools like Photoshop. Even though GIMP has those features, the hills still look a little like stages. Maybe the tools in photoshop are better...
Lightnin  [author] Jul 25, 2017 @ 12:06pm
If i remember right i took the terrain randomly from a website called terrain party to get the mountains. I then heavily edited it to get the desired results of the valleys. This map took quite some work to get just right. To smooth the hills i'd use photoshop with its smoothing/blurring tools.
Gregory_TheGamer Jul 25, 2017 @ 11:54am
Did you hand build this map? If so, which tools did you use? I am making a map for personal use but I just can't seem to figure out how to smooth the hills.

@Hawk5602. Thanks for the comment. I appreciate this kind of input. I think the game adds way too much industry to the maps. Too much clutter. Personally i don't use industry at all. It has no bearing on city growth what so ever. The amount of mountains were a deliberate ploy. I wanted them to dictate all aspects of how the map was played and how lines were layed. I may release this map with industry at some point.

Great Map that is very scenic and fun to build on. Citys are nicely spaced out with a good number of them. Only a couple things to gripe about the complete lack of randomly generated industry. Even though I can place it myself it but you dont get the same level of challange you do with random generation. The ratio of mountian to wide open plains is almost perfect but I wish a portion of the map was a little different as there is too much mountian for me. All in all a high quality map! :eagleeye:

@lighnin ok lol! ur great! i would request you to make maps with just 1 or 2 countires but with ur 6k scale - it will be fun to replicate real railways in big countries with many cities - see waht u can do if like the idea :D
Lightnin  [author] May 29, 2017 @ 4:57pm
@Labrat20085. Thank you.

This Is A Great Challenge Amazing map :)
Lightnin  [author] May 29, 2017 @ 3:33pm
@sumitsessle. Thanks but I'm not really a big social media type. I'm an oldie lol. My map making days go way back to the original Half life and Red Faction to name but a few.
Lightnin  [author] May 29, 2017 @ 3:27pm
@CptWilder. Thank you. I would agree that Delta is a visually better looking map. In fact some of my other maps 'Look' better than this. I like this map because of how it plays. It has a completely different play style. There's no straight lines to be had anywhere thus no place for HST's. All mid speed trains here.
sumitsessle May 29, 2017 @ 3:24pm
@ lightin - if u have any social media accounts you won't mind sharing - i would love to give u a follow!
CptWilder May 29, 2017 @ 2:54pm
Lightnin, you are a true mapping genius and your River Delta map is still stunning me everytime i see it, and if you say this map is better i cnat wait to try it out, Appreciation from Canada

This looks pretty interesting! This might end up being my next play through map...
