So, the continent names don't show up for me. I can access the menu and it seems to change the bonuses as it should, but the continent names are just blank. Any ideas?

One more update:

Adding "bContinentBonus=true" to the bottom of ResCards that did not have the line in the original file appears to break the strategy map. All regions in the continent (or continent) stuck with the non-traditional bonus can't even be scanned, which is sort of a bummer given some of the bonuses would be rather nice permanent additions. I'm not sure whether or not it's possible to fix this, as it appears the bonuses rely on content outside the .ini files.

Update this to WotC and we'll bang, ok?:2016roasted:

An update on modding the bonuses:

Deleting Resistance Strategy Card entries in the DefaultGameData.ini will remove them as potential cards and/or continent bonuses in the pool in game entirely.

true point, which is why this mod is so important, particularily if it works mid-game

thanks for the info

I *think* all the cards (including tiered ones) can be obtained throughout the course of a game as part of the special new side-missions, but you can also award yourself particular cards via the "addplayablecard" console command. Just follow that command with a valid ResCard target from the Resistance Strategy Card list in DefaultGameData and it will be added to your pool for use at the beginning of a game month provided you have a slot to put it in.

However, being able to restricted continents to useful bonuses is rather nice because some (ahem, Pursuit of Knowledge) can get obsolete or simply aren't that useful. You can swap out cards as the game progresses, but you cannot swap out continents!
Vaeringjar Sep 11, 2017 @ 11:16am
a mod that made all those cards available would also be sweet

For those who want to constrain continent bonuses for War of the Chosen prior to a mod update, there's a solution:

In your XCOM 2\XCOM2-WarOfTheChosen\XComGame\Config folder, there is an .ini file labeled, "DefaultGameData". Search that file for "Resistance Strategy Cards", and you'll come to the beginning of lines assigning the various resistance strategy cards within the game. You'll notice several will have, "bContinentBonus=true" at the bottom. These are the cards that can also be continent bonuses, as War of the Chosen selects all of those from a common pool. I've found that deleting that line from a card (such as, "Pursuit of Knowledge") will eliminate the odds of it showing up in a new game as a continent bonus. As always, I would recommend backing up the DefaultGameData file before starting a game.

It's also possible to add resistance cards to your in-game pool in the console via the command, "addplayablecard" with a card name from the DefaultGameData file as the target.

Really looking forward to the update. Got stuck with Pursuit of Knowledge on my HQ's continent. What a waste.

-bg-, thank you for updating us on the progress with this mod! It's a really important one given WotC's awesome continental bonii, haha.
Vaeringjar Aug 31, 2017 @ 11:50am
Thanks for the reply. I want to start a playthrough, I'm assuming adding this should work fine mid-campaign though?

it will take some time, the game changed the way it assign continent bonuses

When else are you able to change mod settings? I've never seen any you can change on the tactical screen, nor the main menu. Every editable mod I've ever seen, be it on MOM or MCM, HAS to be done on the Avenger screen. If you're new to modding I can understand the confusion, but if you aren't, then the shame is on you, not the modder.
oldetyme May 30, 2017 @ 9:45am
it works in that way, thanks a lot.
> You could update the mod description to make that point absolutely clear for everybody
-bg-  [author] May 27, 2017 @ 9:56am
you need to use it inside the avenger, not in the main menu or tactical game.
oldetyme May 27, 2017 @ 4:16am
i can not get this to show up either. there is no content under mod options. (i use LW2)
endersblade May 25, 2017 @ 12:17am
It's working perfectly fine. Make sure you're using the Mod OPTIONS Menu and not the Mod CONFIG Menu.
Marcus May 24, 2017 @ 10:49am
i can not get this to show up in the mod cofig options, so its not working.
Schadenfreude May 23, 2017 @ 10:04pm
Figures, all mods so far worked with MCM, just this one doesn't, hence my confusion.
-bg-  [author] May 23, 2017 @ 10:02pm
MCM and MOM are completely different mods, mods work for one won't appear on the other, you need to enable MOM and there's a different button to access this menu
Schadenfreude May 23, 2017 @ 9:37pm
@endersblade

Well, I don't see this mod popping up on the mod menu, that's why I'm asking, since I'm playing LW2 - not familiar with how LW2/Highlander changes things.

I am however using MCM, does this mean this mod, for some reason, only works with MOM?
endersblade May 23, 2017 @ 6:54pm
Got'cha, thanks for the reply. About to start a new game with this, I HATE getting the useless continent bonuses. This is going to be great!
-bg-  [author] May 23, 2017 @ 1:55pm
1. Dependency, this mod don't actually depend on mod options menu so you can use this mod without it, MCM requires you to compile it as a meta mod so it is required to run every time.
2. I need full control on the settings window, so I need to spawn my own settings window instead of using an API to declare which control I need as it has some specific behaviours.
endersblade May 23, 2017 @ 12:10pm
LW2 shouldn't affect this at all, the continent bonuses are from the vanilla game (or added by mods), LW2 uses them the same exact way.

I'm trying to figure out why you used the MOM instead of MCM that everyone else uses for this. I have to add two more mods to my already long list instead of just one.
Alexandr May 23, 2017 @ 9:28am
For what it's worth, it works for me, bountygiver. So it's just a matter of user error for the time being; I know in my case I thought it wasn't working, but then I checked Mod Options Menu's... options menu for mods at the Avenger and your mod shows up there fine.
-bg-  [author] May 22, 2017 @ 9:02pm
you need to install mod options menu, found in the required item list on the right side, then the button will appear in the options menu when you are in the strategic game. Be patient, due to how new UI elements get loaded it might take a few seconds to appear.
=[NK]= Col. Jack O'Neil May 22, 2017 @ 8:49pm
Sorry to sound like an idiot, but where does it show what continent bonuses you get on the ui normally??
Schadenfreude May 22, 2017 @ 5:53pm
@=[NK]= Col. Jack O'Neil

Yes it does.
Schadenfreude May 22, 2017 @ 5:53pm
Does this work with LW2? I don't see the customization options popping up in the Mod Options Menu.
=[NK]= Col. Jack O'Neil May 22, 2017 @ 5:16pm
Does lw2 have continent bonuses? :/
Alexandr May 22, 2017 @ 3:23pm
Yay! This'll save me some time at the start of each new LW2 campaign, given that I'm a perfectionist who demands All In and Under The Table be present in my world before I commit to playing a particular layout.
