For those thinking about using this mod, it actually breaks the expansion packs ingame.

Already ahead of you ..... I finally was able to find some stuff and sift through allot of information ... I am currently modding the game and its totally fun. I just started yesterday.

I don't have the files anymore, I lost them about 2 years ago. Was a shame because I was looking at making the companies develop the things they are known for.

I used the Software Inc. official guide to create this mod, so you might be able to read into that and make what I never managed to finish!

Can you share the Folder Name you used and template for the Company Name Generator please?

If anyone's wondering, this seems to work perfectly with A10.

Currently not working on this mod, but if I do release an update it will include specified companies, as in Ubisoft makes games, Microsoft makes OS and tools etc.

Not sure when it will happen, I know it's heavily requested though. Not very motivated to play Software Inc at the moment, that's why I haven't been working on this mod.

Is there no way to make this historical? As in follow some kind of historical timeline? LIke DIgital, Xerox etc as customers in 1980 and then maybe Commodore and others later.

This mod doesn't have any hand in changing core parts of the game, I simply replaced the name generator with static names from which they are randomly picked.

Do anyone have problem with selling owen software after active this mod? I can´t sell nearly notting...even with marking, Great qualty<x etc. I tried many games notting work, after i diseble i can sell again :S

I bet you that if you decided to code this addon to actually make these companies make what they normaly make such as microsoft making operating systems and apple making computers and Ubisoft making game engines You could proably get a ton and a ton of subscribers

I might as well remove Blizzard then, they are also owned by Activision.

I think for instance Activision as a publisher and Blizzard as a developer do enough differently to warrant existing as their own entities for this mod.

Martin, Alphabet was created by google. Sure, it "owns" them, but they just did it for organization purposes I think. It's just the same guys. No one can own Google but Google themselves my friend...

Yeah, the bigger a company is it ends up being part of your life, like google and facebook, we don't even think of them as companies or businesses any more, we think of them as part of our life, like internet or something... I think that's the reason why :D (from a psicological phylosofical standpoint haha

The image has to be a .png file, jpg does not work. also great mod, you can add GreenHeart Games, Symantec, International Business Machines(IBM), SAP, Canonical and Amedeus IT Holdings also you can consider adding VMware(This is the name of the company and not just the software xD).

Yeah...not a clue what's wrong, I'm doing exactly that already.

You have to add the image in the mod's folder.
File has to be "Thumbnail.png", once you add it to the folder simply update the mod and it should appear

I have added company specific software to the potential todo list, no ETA on that yet however.

By the way, does anyone know how to make the Workshop thumbnails? You can't edit them from the Workshop page, you are supposed to upload them in a file with the mod but I've not got a clue how to do it.

So for now the mod is image-less except for the "screenshot".

Didn't want to oversaturate the list with game developers. Instead what I did was at Take-Two Interactive, the owner of Rockstar Games.

Gives it a bit of a gap, I suppose it's more realistic to think that one of their studios would be making software that isn't exclusively games.

Yeah, it isn't perfect by any means, but at least for me it already makes the experience much more enjoyable, for one because the random company names are awful and also because it just links up with reality.


I might very well add forced software categories in the future, but for now...just consider it an alternate take on the software/hardware industry :)

I'd love to do that, at the moment you can't really do that though I think. Although CoreDumping did mention that they'd add it in the next update.
