Yeah, this has been having trouble as wallpaper engine has been updating. Unfortunately I don't have the time to update this anymore as I have moved on to other projects
Lysol Oct 22, 2019 @ 1:04pm
seems like this is either bugged or doesn't work atm with the recent updates to wallpaper engine. i can't seem get it to work. :/
ABadMagicPlayer  [author] Sep 27, 2018 @ 10:52pm
This isn't really a project I actively develop. When it was made, it was a limitation of Wallpaper Engine. I assume that will continue to be the case.
Vertex Sep 25, 2018 @ 4:49pm
do you think that will ever be a thing? I really want both to play at the same time would be super cool
ABadMagicPlayer  [author] Sep 17, 2018 @ 12:06am
Unfortunately, no
Vertex Sep 16, 2018 @ 4:05pm
Anyway to get the visuals from a chosen wallpaper to play along with the visualizer playing?
King Shibe Jul 23, 2018 @ 9:58am
holly fuck thats clever. (Nice [idk which coin] silent miner)

Afaik random crashes are related to being injected into WPE. Haven't had problems when testing code externally
Lysol Oct 11, 2017 @ 5:03am
so far my experience with your vizualizer has been the greatest. pretty consistant and very comparable to the official monstercat vizualizer. aside from a few random crashes every few weeks(probably has to do with wallpaper engine idk) this is the greatest visualizer for wallpaper engine.
ABadMagicPlayer  [author] Oct 9, 2017 @ 1:06pm
If there is a compatibility issue with Rainmeter, that would be something to discuss with the creator of WPE in the discussions section of the community page.
ABadMagicPlayer  [author] Oct 9, 2017 @ 1:04pm
Not that I know of. I have noticed the same issue occurring here, namely the wallpaper will not start up. I don't know the root of this issue, I assume it is internal to WPE. I have been able to solve it by doing some combination of these 3 things (different every time but always works eventually): 1) Restart Wallpaper Engine. 2) Change your wallpaper to a different wallpaper and then back. 3) Click your current configuration in the "Recent Wallpapers" menu item in the wallpaper engine popup from the taskbar. This 3rd option has been the most effective but it often requires several attempts.

Another known issue is that the Transparent background setting sometimes causes the screen to go black. This an issue with Wallpaper Engine.

If I find a solution to any of these issues the wallpaper will be updated accordingly

I was just trying to say that in the event that the error was in some way related to my problem. My problem being whenever I try to open it, it freezes whatever the previous wallpaper was, and it doesn't unfreeze or show anything until I pick a different wallpaper. I can't seem to find any cause for this either; I've refreshed my settings, unsubbed and resubbed a number of times, and I have not seen any change. I'm also running Rainmeter, I suppose I could have mentioned that. Does Rainmeter have any compatability issues that you know of?
ABadMagicPlayer  [author] Oct 8, 2017 @ 8:47pm
Yeah, since this wallpaper is an executable file, wallpaper engine just likes to warn you that it might be malware. Just a CYA thing I suppose. I can assure you, this wallpaper isn't intended to harm your computer. It's a project that I put a lot of time into and I personally have it set as my wallpaper.
chamomiles (final update!!!) Oct 8, 2017 @ 8:42pm
vvv

I get this message as well, but there's no cause for alarm. It's just annoying that it pops up often is all.
Beren Elendil Oct 8, 2017 @ 8:40pm
Hello, me again. I suppose I should mention, I get a warning message that reads something to the tune of: "You are about to open an external application as a wallpaper: [the location in system files]. Wallpaper Engine has no control over this file, you must ensure it comes from a reliable source before proceeding." Any clue as to why it might be saying that?
ABadMagicPlayer  [author] Oct 8, 2017 @ 8:19pm
New update! Now you can save and load settings to files other than the default save used for the app. This lets you keep multiple files so you can switch between them at will.
Beren Elendil Sep 4, 2017 @ 9:58am
Hi, I really want to use your visualizer app, but every time I try to use it, my previous background simply pauses with no sign of your visualizer starting up. I tried resetting the settings, but nothing changed.
Rhy Jul 30, 2017 @ 9:42am
This still has the best visualization I've seen on the workshop. someone should attempt to make a trap nation visualizer with this method ^^
ABadMagicPlayer  [author] Jul 29, 2017 @ 4:11pm
Can't think of any reason why that would be. Maybe your wallpaper settings are somehow corrupted. If you open the settings window from the system tray you may be able to resolve.
pinky Jul 26, 2017 @ 1:56pm
When I try and use it is just a black background with nothing on it, any ideas? Ty :D:
ABadMagicPlayer  [author] Jul 15, 2017 @ 3:46pm
New update out now! I finally got a second monitor. I've figured out how to display the wallpaper properly on multiple monitors and I have made a first pass at positioning options. For now, the positioning options confine the visualizer to its own monitor. I am currently unsure of whether I want this to be the final functionality of positioning, so please let me know your thoughts.
Kenjataimu Jul 8, 2017 @ 12:36pm
Stretched doesn't work either. Perhaps if you can get it it work with stretched, and implement x and y position, we could place it on the second monitor manually?
ABadMagicPlayer  [author] Jul 8, 2017 @ 12:10pm
Yeah, I have that problem too. I'd try to fix it but honestly idk how. I think it may be a wallpaper engine problem.
Kenjataimu Jul 8, 2017 @ 9:34am
The visualizer won't appear on my second monitor, only on my primary one
ABadMagicPlayer  [author] Jun 19, 2017 @ 11:29am
There will be an icon down in your system tray (bottom-right corner of the taskbar) that you can click to bring up a settings menu for this wallpaper.
chamomiles (final update!!!) Jun 18, 2017 @ 3:48pm
My apologies, I'm not very fluent in this kind of talk. I've only used wallpaper engine for a day now and don't really know anything about tech/coding w/e, could you enlighten me on how to do this?
ABadMagicPlayer  [author] Jun 18, 2017 @ 3:40pm
Yes, the A value on the color control adjusts transparency
chamomiles (final update!!!) Jun 18, 2017 @ 12:51am
Is there a way to adjust transparency on the visualizer to "blend in" with the background? If not, are there plans to add in such setting? I'd love to see this. Awesome job by the way!
ABadMagicPlayer  [author] Jun 8, 2017 @ 8:44pm
Tried a couple things and couldn't reproduce the bug. Things to try:

-Make sure you're hitting 'yes' when exiting the settings window
-Restart the wallpaper. If that fails, restart wallpaper engine.
-If none of that works, navigate to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\431960\915899815 and send me the contents of your ".settings" file. I won't say you can't edit that file, but be warned that it could stop the wallpaper from being able to run if you do anything you shouldn't.
Rhy Jun 8, 2017 @ 3:16am
The only thing I did was trying to change it to another value and set a gif background.
ABadMagicPlayer  [author] Jun 7, 2017 @ 8:35pm
And to follow up, do you remember what you did before this happened, or did it just stop working?
ABadMagicPlayer  [author] Jun 7, 2017 @ 12:55pm
That's weird. Send screenshots my way and I'll try to address the problem.
Rhy Jun 7, 2017 @ 12:36pm
Sweet to see you working on it! But.... I kinda managed to screw it over.... after setting width/height it somehow does not respect the dots i put. even when i set it to default the dots are ignored and it will just be 50 and 45 on default. So everything will be displayed huge.not even re-enabling works.
ABadMagicPlayer  [author] Jun 6, 2017 @ 2:54pm
New update! The visualizer's size is now customizable in terms of either pixels or percentage of your screen! I'm working on a system to change positioning, so stay tuned for that. Also, you can now add a custom background! The settings window supports transparent background, similar previous versions, the default windows background image, and custom choosable, including animated gifs.
nitram May 19, 2017 @ 2:53pm
Good Job man! Nice update, Im so hyped for the new update. Keep Up The Good Work!!!!!!!
ABadMagicPlayer  [author] May 18, 2017 @ 8:23pm
For those who care, the bug fix has been released. The tray icon functions properly even when the wallpaper is paused.
Arya May 18, 2017 @ 5:09pm
Doesn't work tried over and over, tried converting to .gif for use in another visualiser but the quality pooped
ABadMagicPlayer  [author] May 18, 2017 @ 11:15am
Refl3x WPE would need to deliberately add support. However there is currently a bug/feature where it can be overlaid over a video wallpaper. Simply set the video as your wallpaper, then set this is your wallpaper. The video will keep playing with this wallpaper overtop
Arya May 17, 2017 @ 9:31pm
I'd love to have this overlaid another animated wallpaper. Any way to cause that to happen? Or would WPE deliberately need to add support for it?
ABadMagicPlayer  [author] May 16, 2017 @ 10:53pm
I'm aware of the new bug where the system tray icon is nonfunctional while the program is paused. I will work on a fix, and if I can't get it working within a few days I will revert to the previous build.
ABadMagicPlayer  [author] May 16, 2017 @ 9:16pm
New update - nothing super exciting, but for anyone who cares, I've fixed some issues the wallpaper had integrating with WPE. It should now properly pause/close when WPE tells it to.
ABadMagicPlayer  [author] May 15, 2017 @ 10:32am
It's a bug, but I'm selling it as a feature XD

The way the transparent background works with WPE isn't ideal but it has some interesting ramifications so it will be staying in the code.
Rhy May 15, 2017 @ 9:01am
For some reason, I now can play other video wallpapers along with the visualizer. Not sure if it was supposed to or not..
ABadMagicPlayer  [author] May 14, 2017 @ 11:35pm
I have plans to work on a setting for custom backgrounds. I will be implementing transparent (what we have currently) and static image for sure, possibly animated gifs depending on if my current technologies support it and/or how difficult it would be to implement. It is something I intend to look into as I fix other issues.
Rhy May 14, 2017 @ 12:07pm
I'd actually like seing this with the monstercat unchained background animation :)
Rhy May 14, 2017 @ 12:06pm
NIce! Any chance for some glow or some gif/webm implementation later on?
ABadMagicPlayer  [author] May 13, 2017 @ 8:34pm
New update! Added an icon in the system tray with color options and the ability to manually pause/unpause the wallpaper. Also made an attempt at fixing some math for multiple monitors.
ABadMagicPlayer  [author] May 6, 2017 @ 11:01am
Not that I'm aware of. I have no ability to know when wallpaper engine is telling it to pause so I have no way to manually control it.
Rhy May 6, 2017 @ 8:20am
Sadly it doesn't pause when it's told to by wallpaper engine. Is there any fix?
