I did so because I really wanted to use the mod and many members of the community have been wanting to use it as well. Sadly, it hasn't been updated for nearly 6 years.However, if the mod author would like me to take it down then I will absolutely do it. I did my best to give as much credit to the original author as possible as I am not seeking to steal the work they put into it. I merely wish to allow myself and those that wish to use the mod to be able to use it again.

I wish to fuck there were a working mod with the latest version of Civ 6 that allows start distance to be modified. There are some huge map mods and they're pointless because all the civs start right on top of eachother.

@Rebelate the minimum spawn distance won't always work on smaller maps with more civilizations. If you're playing on small with like 15 civs and 20 city states, settlers will spawn next to one another (or city states may not spawn at all) with the minimum city placement between them instead

theres a minimum spawn distance of 9? i had multiple games so far, where i spawned in sight of anothers civ's settler, that means 2 fields next to my settler xDDDDD

This mod just creates another problem. It just clusters City-states together, so much so that they can't even use their settlers.

It works okay, but not sure it is giving 16 tiles spacing between. I had a few starts where they were NOT 16 away.

After today's update, this mod no longer works. I've seen civs spawn 8 tiles from each other several times in under 10 restarts.

For some reference: I recently started a game on a huge fractal map with high sea level and 8 civs. Only 7 original capitals were founded, so 8 civs with these settings was probably too many.

Yes, it seems the recent update broke the civ placement. Regarding this issue, I had pretty good experience with YnAMP so far: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=87186188

Since I started to run my mod together with YnAMP (a few games ago), I have not run into this issue, so it seems to be fixed there.

This mod is broken after 17 October game update. Enemys starting Settlers may appear in neighboring hex with players settler

Not a problem, I was just wondering. !2 hexes away is fine, just don't want AI Civs starting right on my doorstep, and your mod fixes that very nicely. Excellent job! Three thumbs up.

Yes, this happens sometimes, and I don't know how to fix it. The script for placing the major civs seems to be not really ideal, but I don't know how to change it without breaking it.

Is the 16 hex distance firm, or can it change? I just subscribed to this mod, and while other civs did start further away, the distance was only 12 hexes, with only 6 civs on a huge map. I'm not using any other mod which has any affect on starting distance or placement.

If you want to make a mod that reduces the minimum starting distance, you can download the files for my mod from here: https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/greater-start-distance.613739/

Open Start Distance.sql and change the value 16 to whatever value you want, then move the files to your mods folder.

What about a mod that slightly reduce the minimum starting distance? :3 I wanna fit alot of civs in smaller maps sometimes, but it gets autocapped when the minimim distanse is 9 hexes :/

This mod only works (somehat) reliably when your game has significantly less civs than the default value. On Huge maps, I usually have 6 Civs instead of 12. I know this isn't ideal.

Didnt seem to work for me. I started a a Huge Map. (contenents) and within the first 5 turns of the game, I was met by 4 civilizations. Ive never started a game where I was so close to others before adding this mod.

@si11ywalker Even that would be an improvement. I like Detailed Worlds, but the close spawning is annoying and ruins the balance of the map

it works somewhat randomly on Detailed Worlds. Some civs spawned the normal 9 away and others spawned anywhere between 9 and 16 tiles from each other

What do you mean "it stops working as intended" ? I have launched games with your mod with vanilla large map setting. I did not for the moment played those games but at last it seems to work and the game is launched (with CQUI and RED modpack).

You probably have to reduce the number of civs on standard maps. When the function for assigning the start positions doesn't find suitable locations outside the minimum distance anymore, it stops working as intended. I can't say for sure when that happens, because it depends a lot on the specific map being generated, and I am not exactly an expert on civ6 map generation.

This mod should be compatible with other mods, as long as they don't overwrite the value for START_DISTANCE_MAJOR_CIVILIZATION (which is what I am doing) and don't make other big modifications to map generation. I have not tested this with CQUI and RED.
