Genuinely thank you for singelhandedly putting me on NEOTOKYO, bought the album on vinyl, play the game on fridays, all because of this mod, awesome work
knojkah Dec 27, 2024 @ 8:05pm
Great music, thanks for making me aware of its existence :psi:
Herr Fristi  [author] Jan 17, 2023 @ 3:09am
It's been a while since i last checked on this mod, glad to hear it still works somehow! :D
I don't remember why i really wanted to mod these tracks into the game, but i still think it's an excellent combination and have many fond memories with it.
Alpharius Jan 16, 2023 @ 12:58pm
Thank you for making this mod. I would have never known about this soundtrack or Ed Harrison if you didn't and I consider it a must have when I play. :mhwgood:
Kakroom Jun 25, 2022 @ 9:38pm
I want you to know that this mod has made it so that I get nostalgia for XCOM when listening to the Neotokyo soundtrack. Real, powerful nostalgia. I think it's a very unique experience, because I don't associate this music with anything other than XCOM, so it just is this game's music for me. It'll always be that way.
Baka Racker Jun 21, 2020 @ 3:30pm
Haha, nice, this is exactly what I listen to when playing XCom!
Eclipse Aug 14, 2019 @ 8:44pm
Thank you. This album is probably my favorite ever which is crazy because it's absolutely free. The level of polish Mr. Harrison brought to NeoTokyo was top notch. Thank you again for making this available in XCOM. You are a man of great taste Herr. Fristi.
Cyber Von Cyberus Mar 18, 2019 @ 7:40am
you can save at the start of the mission then load that save again and it should stop the music from overlapping and only play the mission music
Tumid Mar 18, 2019 @ 3:19am
The mod is overlapping the music. Is there anyway to fix this?
Nebula Jan 30, 2019 @ 12:55pm
That has nothing to do with this mod. Thats literally the only way to get music to work in the first place because of the "Music Moding System"
Epaxobe Oct 17, 2018 @ 11:29am
Music is great BUT not this mod, there's no replace in main-avenger menu sometimes and it's plays above the original music in cut-scenes, when you goin to multiplayer menu you in 75% will get a bug when one same plays twice in the same time. And i can say that main menu music is choosed very well.
Herr Fristi  [author] Sep 10, 2018 @ 1:42pm
Yeah, iirc that fixes the problem. Thanks for mentioning it, Cyber!
Cyber Von Cyberus Sep 10, 2018 @ 10:32am
That's a bug that is fixed by making a quicksave and then loading it, it will clear out all of the songs that are currently playing and make a new one play
Kakroom Sep 9, 2018 @ 7:13am
Songs play over one another for me. I've uninstalled and resubscribed multiple times.

It's a real shame. This is my favorite OST mod.
Vice Jun 13, 2018 @ 2:23pm
Ah...that would explain it then! Glad it's not bugging out at least for WOTC then! Surprised you could not find a nice track for avenger / world map. As the music is quite good after all! Regardless, thanks for pointing out it's not buggy or whatever! :ily:
Herr Fristi  [author] Jun 13, 2018 @ 4:06am
or as intended at least :p
Herr Fristi  [author] Jun 13, 2018 @ 4:06am
@Vice
iirc i didn't set any music for the avenger or world map so everything should be working fine ;)
Vice Jun 13, 2018 @ 3:43am
Seems to work for WOTC for the most part..I don't get any music from this mod when I am chilling on the avenger or scanning for stuff on the world map...but the music from this mod works at least for missions for combat and non-combat (which is far more important imo than the avenger / world map music) would be nice to have it all though! :steamhappy:
E. Honda Civic Mar 7, 2018 @ 12:06pm
Thanks
Herr Fristi  [author] Mar 7, 2018 @ 5:15am
@Sebastian, If you just want to edit the song pool for this mod, you can do so in .../steamapps/workshop/content/268500/896121770/Config/XComTacticalSound.ini

I sadly don't know anything about WOTC compatibility mostly because i don't have WOTC yet and because this was more or less intended as a throwaway mod. Weird that it's the only OST mod that doesn't work though! My guess is that it's because of the large size.
Herr Fristi  [author] Mar 7, 2018 @ 5:05am
iirc it's mainly because the Unreal Engine version the Engine is based upon only accepts .WAV files as audio. The WAV files from the composer's site are about 60 MB each and there's about 15 of them in this mod. Where the other 0.5 GB comes from i don't know :p
Cyber Von Cyberus Mar 6, 2018 @ 3:03pm
right I see, also I suppose Xcom 2 being considered garbage when it comes to optimizing storage space plays a big role in the size of this mod
E. Honda Civic Mar 6, 2018 @ 1:43pm
@Cyber Von Cyberus , correction most youtube downloads are 192kbps, you can check the bitrate in the details tab of an MP3s properties
E. Honda Civic Mar 6, 2018 @ 1:40pm
@Cyber Von Cyberus, audio compression, file type, etc, all play a big part but most YouTube to MP3 downloads are only 90-120kbps where as the Neotokyo OST, which can be downloaded for free from the composers site is 320kbps, thus a larger file size (http://ghostiq.com/neotokyo/) .
Cyber Von Cyberus Mar 6, 2018 @ 10:44am
I'm just curious, how is this mod almost 2 gigabytes but when I downloaded the song from youtube onto my phone it was only 165 Mo ?
E. Honda Civic Mar 5, 2018 @ 2:04pm
Hey I love the Neotokyo soundtrack, however for some reason this mod is the one ost mod ive seen that doesnt work with WOTC, I was curious what ini I would have to edit to change the song pool.
Herr Fristi  [author] Nov 26, 2017 @ 10:38am
@DonkeyWorld iirc it's only possible to do that by importing the .upk of the mod (in the Content subdirectory) into the Unreal Engine version used in the XCOM2 mod kit. After importing the .upk you then should be able to set the volume of the individual songs. After that you should probably re-export the .upk or something and you'd be done. I remember the song volume not really responding to volume parameters while in the Unreal engine though, so you'll probably have to guess the right volume. The whole process isn't really as painfull as it's sounds but i'm afraid there's no other way to do it (altough it could be possible with the "Mod Config Menu" mod, try using that first)
DonkeyWorld Nov 26, 2017 @ 12:58am
Is there some way to lower the music volume of just this mod? It's a lot louder than the other music mod I use or the default music.
Herr Fristi  [author] Oct 27, 2017 @ 3:20pm
@MikeCzer The Deranged Thanks for the thanks :p ! This comment section really makes me glad i put the mod on the workshop instead of keeping it to myself like i originally intended. That also explains why the mod is rather barebones.

Keep on truckin'!
Redwin Oct 27, 2017 @ 2:55pm
@Herr Fristi I though about deleting the track as an option, just wanted to inform 'bout it. Still thanks for response and the mod! Stay safe mate!
Cyber Von Cyberus Oct 27, 2017 @ 2:54pm
Allright, thanks for the reply and for introducing me to this wonderfull soundtrack
Herr Fristi  [author] Oct 27, 2017 @ 2:53pm
@Cyber Von Cyberus I never knew about that quicksave fix, thanks for sharing it! And yeah, all the tracks assigned to tactical missions should be eligible to be played. There are 14 tracks that play during combat and 10 during calm. The Music Modding System doesn't include a shuffle feature however, so the same calm track will keep looping untill combat starts and the same combat track will keep looping untill it's calm again. After that it'll randomly select a new calm track from the pool of 10 etcetera.

If you want to boost the chance of a certain track playing, you could always add it multiple times to the .ini, just don't forget to give it an unigue ID!
Cyber Von Cyberus Oct 27, 2017 @ 2:37pm
Also btw, are all the soundtracks eligible to be played during the mission ? so far I've only heard a few ones, or is it just the fact I'm unlucky to get the smae ones
Cyber Von Cyberus Oct 27, 2017 @ 2:36pm
oh my bad, I ment the dropship music sorry for confusing you, you can fix the overlapping dropship music by making a quicksave at the start of the mission and loading it, that is what I ment to say
Herr Fristi  [author] Oct 27, 2017 @ 2:33pm
@Cyber Von Cyberus That's weird, i never had problems with the loadout music during my playthrough but i've only tried it with Long war and that mod messes with the loadout screen so maybe it just never triggers lol. I can't remember adding any song to loadout though. Could you be talking about the Main menu or something? There's definitely annul there.

You could go to .../steamapps/workshop/content/268500/896121770/Config and remove annul from the configs, although that just removes the track instead of fixing the bug.
Herr Fristi  [author] Oct 27, 2017 @ 2:20pm
@MikeCzer The Deranged If you just want to get rid of the 'Reboot' track, you can do so by going to .../steamapps/workshop/content/268500/896121770/Config/XComTacticalSound.ini
and delete the line starting with +DropShipIntroCues

I don't know how to get rid of the overlapping with the random track (I also get that every mission i think). It could be a bug in the Music Modding System, does this happen with other music paks too?
Herr Fristi  [author] Oct 27, 2017 @ 2:00pm
For those wondering about WotC compatibility: I haven't been able to test that because i don't have the expansion (yet :p). If the "Music Modding System" mod is WotC compatible then this mod should work fine. From the comments i've read thus far ( including Toastywafflz, thanks for your feedback!) it seems to work fine and worst case scenario it'll just mess up your music because the mod only modifies some stuff of the music player anyway. If it does cause problems then I won't really be able to do much but wait untill the guys from the Music Modding System update their mod, sorry.
Cyber Von Cyberus Oct 23, 2017 @ 12:48pm
ah yeah, the loadout music 'annul' continues playing throughout the mission, it's a small bug
Redwin Oct 23, 2017 @ 12:46pm
I don't know why, but always on the beginning of any mission there is played random track and 'Reboot' track, which overlaps ofc. It all disappears after spotting enemy, but it is still annoying. Someone experienced the same?
Cyber Von Cyberus Oct 20, 2017 @ 4:01pm
Thank you so much for having introduced me to this amazing soundtrack
Toastywafflz Sep 25, 2017 @ 3:59pm
Not sure if I'm just lucky, or if I just haven't gotten far enough in WotC for it to cause problems, but I've been using the music mods in WotC with no obvious problems, so you might be able to get away with plugging them in without much fuss, but it's possible there's a conflict I don't know about or haven't experienced yet.
Bazzy Sep 10, 2017 @ 4:20am
Would love to have all Soundtracks Mods in WotC again, please somebody make an update mod for it!
Sajtgolyó51 Aug 1, 2017 @ 1:38am
HELL YEAH, one of my top favourite OSTs of all time that fits in just perfectly
Thank you for making this mod
