I'm not working on trisagion rework, and I doubt I'll ever pick it again.
In the first place, trisagion is not light shot, I never made light shot to be a booster item, they copy pasted the code with the limitations that the modding carried, there's no easy or hard fix.
I tried many things that I never posted, asked friends, and struggled for a long time trying to get ideas to reduce lag and keep the moving lasers, but both things can't coexist as long as lasers are too heavy on the computer.
I'm not going to try to fix something that is not mine anymore, I stopped modding due to the frustration of the trisagion mod I kept trying to make, if anything, I just want to forget about this mod and move to other things, and maybe I could make mods again in the future.

seriously when they released it they removed all synergies and made it boring
Now, these balls of lights are essentially big tears with laser effects, even though they are not lasers, and some synergies work differently while using Trisagion, similarly to Mom's knife changing the behaviour of synergies due to the knife.
The balls of light do aoe damage upon contact and disappear into a ripple of light, and while they move they also have a trail of light that does damage and synergizes in a special way (this is because it's neither a tear or a laser)
It's a proof of concept though.
The first one was to make tears fall from the sky on a mark, it was interesting to see them falling and apply visual effects like flat stone or tiny planet, it isn't possible with lasers and ended up being way worse than tears or lasers due to the verticality of the effect, it didn't really do anything with synergies.
The second one was a proof of concept I never fully finished, basically a custom sprite that looked like a laser, similarly to the crack the sky laser but falling instead of appearing instantly, but it didn't solve the problem either.
These days I'm gonna work on another idea, but it's a bit difficult to code so might take a few days to have it working, and tbh I should be moving these conversations to the discord server.
Well, here's the idea for those who're interested.
Again, I'm sorry but to make this good for everyone I have to improve the overall concept.
The second is one that I'm thinking about, because it would change how it's played completely:
Instead of lasers, you would get a ball of light (works similar to tears but with a few different changes) that bends in the direction of enemies and explodes into ripples of light on contact, and while moving has a trail of light that does damage and may synergize the same way than lasers. This one is just a concept and I'm not sure how good it would go, and to make sure that it works properly I might need to limit the number of shoots you do (things like 20/20, inner eye etc...)
While I'm working on the Better Trisagion mod, I'm not working with Kil, I just talked with him once about it, discussed how to fix it and got to a solution, but all of that is on his part, what I'm doing is my own solution for until a rework comes, or if after the rework people still want the old trisagion in the game.
After it's finished I might do a version for Afterbirth+ if it's worth the time.
Right now I'm looking for ideas to potentially make it different from brimstone and other weapons while making it resemble the original, overall there are two different ideas.
Trisagion is not meant to be a tear effect, but a new weapon, having it a charged attack, and still do something completely different to the other weapons in the game AND resemble the original is nearly if not impossible.
I'm trying to get some ideas but none of them work with lasers as lasers are really limited by the api.
The plan is to make it work, fix bugs and any problems that it could cause and then work on synergies, but if the idea changes over time because it's not unique enough and feels boring, I want to do something about that before working on synergies.
Now, I've been struggling with that for a long time, I didn't get anywhere with that, so this is the current result.
Posting on the Discord is still awkward for me, but I will see.
Most of the complaints I've seen fall under the following:
-The booster pack neutered the damage output
-The booster pack neutered the synergies
-The item is recolored brimstone
And based on what I've seen so far, I think posting it in the discord would lead to a much more positive reaction than prior. Even then, most of the major issues with the item were because of the booster pack - not the mod itself.
I recently posted in reddit to get some synergy ideas, I even worked on a small preview video showcasing only a few things to not spoil much, however people seem to ignore and not like it, so I'm currently looking for other feedback.

Right now I mostly fixed bugs, and I'm working on missing synergies.
The idea was to make Trisagion a charged attack and make the laser be a trail that follows it's head who moves and synergies like a tear.

It will crash way less due to how the new trisagion works, that also means less lag.
All broken and buggy synergies are fixed (like trisagion + ipecac)
It works with Azazel and his tainted version.
It will behave way better, things like being reliant on shot speed will be completely irelevant, the damage is fixed too and will behave different for some synergies.
It will also feature new synergies like with brimstone and dr. fetus.
The problem is that the list of things to fix is a big too big and I have to code manually synergies like tiny planet, my reflection and continuum, so you'll all have to wait until I have that, I can't give a date for that but I hope it comes before Kilburn makes a Trisagion rework.
TL;DR: More synergies, fixed bugs, lag and crashes, it's good now.
I'll definetly be waiting and hoping for the fix one day!
To be more specific, the idea is to rewrite Trisagion, fix a lot of the things that were supposed to ship with the booster pack that they cut out and add more synergies, but you will have to wait until repentance opens to modding and work on it.
I wanted to do it before but I never really got into Isaac back after the Genesis mod, but Repentance... yeah, time to go back to modding I guess.
Although don't expect it to be the same way it was before, I will be replacing the trisagion item with a new lightshot as Trisagion.
Sorry about this long wait, I might need to get into modding back before I'm able to rewrite it properly, but I can say for sure that I'll release it soon after repentance opens to modding.
...damn, I really hate that.
