+doesnt cost 400'000 dolars to fire for 12 seconds (cause it can fire literary anything that can be magnetized.)
this is in fact a coilgun not a railgun.... While the principle is similar, there are a few differences... for example.... railgun uses 2 rails.... the coilgun on the other hand uses ...u guessed it.... a coil... and has a potential to surpass the railguns... And railguns as well as coilguns can fire multiple projectiles... as in one after another, like convetional weapons.... dont know how... but i've seen it.
I've made a coilgun myself, had to do reaserch on it for school and actually tricked my physics teacher into letting me make one since my chemistry teacher wasnt gonna let me make explosives XD. Wanted to make a coilgun because of its ability to shoot stuff and a small chance of death since it used somewhere around 300V capacitors, not because of reaserching stuff XD.
Im sure there are other key differences, but thats what i found during my high school physics reaserch.
The pros here could be:
-Can fire any piece of metal, that can be magnetized (maybe he has metal just like the engineer, instead of ammo?)
- No muzzle flash (can still have sound from that spin thing, also sound could be quite interesting from the capacitors charging)
-Projectiles fly alot faster, and further and are more accurate, as the potential of a coilgun is theoretically greater then that of a railgun (and modern railguns can accelerate projectiles at hypersonic speads.. (mach 7 if i remember..)
Cons
-doesnt work underwater
-can run out of power (or owerheat), then it needs to be recharged.
-slower movement speed (possibly heavier then minigun)
-slower deployment speed (needs time to charge the capacitors)
- +X% demage penalty (couldnt think of a specific number...)

I don't think a single one of you actually knows what this is supposed to be.
An electromagnetic coil gun, A.K.A. a rail gun fires projectiles by accelerating them with electromagnets. They are very quiet compared to regular artillery and fired projectile's velocity is MUCH HIGHER than normal. Then again, only one projectile can be fired at a time with a rail gun. Here's stats that I think would make sense.
Pros:
Silent spin-up
65% faster spin-up
50% increased projectile speed
40% increased damage penalty
40% more accurate
Cons:
50% slower switch speed
-60% fire rate
No Random Crits
Crits become Mini-crits
-50% max ammo on user
