When you bleedout before dying, you are unconscious.

It's also used by Stun Lancers.

Ah. Well then I guess this will have to do. I can't think of where I have seen unconsciousness besides the ruler DLC. Is that it?

Unconsciousness in XCOM is tricky. Its also used in Bleed Out and screwing with that is bad. I dont feel comfortable with that as it could lead to massive campaign problems and tactical corruption.

Hey AA, could you make a "Slap them out of it" mod so that soldiers can spend a whole turn waking up those sleepy-heads? I'm okay with unconsciousness, just not mission-long unconsciousness. Subb'd anyways

Think of it as a "knock them out" mod for the above problems instead of sectoids early game.

Thank god, stun lancers you can kill to avoid the unconscious modifier but it's so unavoidable for rulers (or at least for the viper king who is the only one I've fought so far).

honestly, out of all these, two actually made sense causing Unconsciousness...but... Quake? I'd understand if the Queen actually PUNCHED you, but her whacking the ground?
