I found out what's causing the crashing on the 1.25 (MU 0.7) version of the mod. It's the 00_on_actions.txt file not being encoded properly. I have no idea what part of it in particular is crashing it, but after deleting it during a test, the mod runs fine and is playable, but the modded file has important functions so multiple mechanics (such as the Spanish Invasion) won't work properly.

Also, if you want the mod to work in the first place, you have to uninstall EU4 and reinstall it under version 1.25. To unlock this and other old versions, insert the code EU4R2JvakDKTJ8Cn into the text box under the Betas tab.

I keep trying to play in 1.19 using this version but nothing changes ingame. Its just vanilla. Any suggestions? I managed to play it in this same way a while back

I found what works best is subbing to this workshop, uninstalling the game, then reinstalling with version 1.19. The mod will then work. Make a copy of EU4 on your computer and rename whichever EU4 folder you're not currently using. Keep one of them on the older version and one on up to date.

So either u-sub and download the files posted some where bellow the back track your version, although I have found that version is sadly very unstable. Or you can sub to the workshop and backtrack to the update needed. That works, though needs you to back track as I say.

Nevermind. I figured out that you can use 7zip to extract the bin file into the normal contents. Works now.

So I’m trying to reinstall the 1.19 version now so I can play and have it be stable, but Steam Workshop only wants to download a legacy bin file. If I extract that, it has Mesoamerica files in it but the launcher won’t let you click on the mod. I tried direct downloading the mod but your Mega link is dead. :(

The 1.25 version seems to be missing most of the custom idea groups you guys made. There’s no way to colonize anything. Is it supposed to be that way or did I screw something up installing it?

I tried what you said and it still refuses to work. The unzipped folder, “mesoamer_uni”, actually contains another folder of the same name, and then that folder contains another of the same name. Should I reorganize these?

Also: while the final version might be cool to look it, it unfortunately has some nasty crashes that were plaguing it that I was never able to fix. I wouldn't recommend trying to seriously play it.

This should work:
Unzip the zipped file. You should get a folder called "mesoamer_uni" out of it. Place that in the EU4 mod folder. Open up the .mod file and change the path line to the following:
path="mod/mesoamer_uni"

That's exactly how it is set up on my computer and I just verified that it works. Hopefully it should work for you as well!

Nothing I do can get the 1.25-compatible version of this mod to work. I placed the extracted contents of the zip, the zip itself, and the .mod file into both the mod folder in my Documents and in the mod folder in my EU4 Steam folder. I even tried changing the path in the .mod file to point directly at the extracted mod folder. Can you tell me specifically how you set this mod up on your own computer?

I think that should work. Also, to run the mod I think you need to unzip the zip file before you put it in your mod folder if I recall correctly.

Hi, very sorry for the incredibly late response. The final version of the mod isn't in that document, but it should be in the google drive folder with it (there's a .zip file and a .mod file). It looks to me like the link I pasted that leads to that document opens up the google drive folder, which should be freely accessible. If there's nothing else in the folder let me know and I'll try to figure out why that is.

Hey I found you Google Doc entitled "The Successes and Failures of Mesoamerica Universalis" but there doesn't appear to be any links/files attached for the latest release version. At the bottom of the document are four Unicode question marks, as if some data is supposed to be there but isn't able to show. I'd really like to play the final release version that's compatible with 1.25. Any help would be appreciated.

Feel free to add me on steam too if you want to discuss - I'd love to hear about what you're working on and might be able to provide some pointers on representing Mesoamerica in EU4 if you're interested/have any questions about history etc. I have a lot of sources I could point you towards as well. :steamthumbsup:

Disclaimer about bugs in the 1.25 update: it crashes when:

Trying to recruit a general, or make your king/heir a general
When attempting to recruit troops via macro interface
When attempting to elevate/harmonize Purepecha

Also Tlaxcalla seems super buggy, for 30 years they kept replacing ruler every day
And Mexica Hueyi-Tlahtohcayotl (Aztec Empire) has the rebel flag
And when you relaunch the game it resets all provinces Comunication Eficiency

Ah I'm an idiot lol. I'll update the folder later to make it work easier, but here's what you need to do now. Unpack the zip file, it should turn into a regular folder called "mesoamer_uni". Then put that folder into another new folder that you create that should be titled "MesoamericaUniversalis".

I think that should work, let me know if it doesn't.
