@Brado Thanks for the answer, i think my mods didn't even worked, cause i've had several lines added in the startup commands (Steam Launch option in the property) of the game. Things like -threads24 -Novid -Fullscreen -heapzise etc etc... I never knew that adding launch options makes the workshop not load the mods properly, even if they are activated, you do not get any error message but the mods actually don't work by adding Launch options lines to the game.
I deleted all lines in the Launch options and all my mods worked again.
Now since i'm on 4K i can see a little bit of difference but not as great as Rome II.
At least the mods are working great now. It's still too tiny for me, i play attila at 2K, still amazing visuals with some mods.

@Plazma Honestly at this point I can't imagine playing Attila and some of the older TW titles without Lossless Scaling. You can set the resolution lower and scale the window (and gain frames) and so it makes slight tweaks like this unnecessary, as the UI is fine at 2560 or 1980.
Plazma Jul 1 @ 2:54am
works great mate. Thanks for your work. Much appreciated!
I just wish the other icons and pictures in tech trees etc could be made bigger. Makes me dilate tbqh.
Have an award.

@ApolloOne Unless CA updates the game, which they haven't in nearly 8 years, the mod works. It doesn't scale the UI, it just substitutes a size 10 font with a size 14 font and in some cases capitalizes fonts so they are more visible.
ApolloOne Mar 6 @ 9:04pm
Does this mod still works in March 2025 ?
It was working for me in year 2023 (November something like that)
Now i think it's outdated, so sad man...
Can you update it maybe ? I have 4K screen everything so tiny in attila ):::
Would be so awesome and kind from you.
I also checked in steam and CA app oppening before the game launch, i have just your mod in first position top of the list, so there cannot be any conflict, not working...
Brado  [author] Jan 26 @ 7:07pm
@Allazur It works. To my knowledge there are no other mods on the workshop that alter the font/scale by this method. Attila doesn't have UI scaling so it's only a slight improvement, but it works (see screenshots).

I have from time to time come back to troubleshoot with people, so after 8 years of this mod working for thousands of people, I think the problem is on your end.
Allazur Jan 25 @ 9:27am
Doesnt work. No support.

It works with all resolutions.
PrinceOfRohan Dec 28, 2023 @ 3:12am
If i play with this, and my friend doesnt, will we be able to play multiplayer if he doesnt have this mod? I assume if he downloads it, it will mess his screen up since he isnt using 4k
Brado  [author] Dec 22, 2023 @ 5:36am
Mod still works as intended and is not outdated (lol). Please see description and comments if you're confused.
lofty Oct 19, 2023 @ 10:58am
Doesn't really work for me, says it's outdated.
Brado  [author] Jun 9, 2023 @ 2:04pm
Also uploaded a time stamp with the mod loaded and screenshot from that session. Please note that other mods are marked as "outdated" but game still launches without issue.

If your game isn't loading with this mod, and you have validated the download, tried troubleshooting the launcher (unsub/resub), and have no other issues with your OS, then that pretty much leaves a mod conflict.

Try placing the mod at the very last in your load order. If it still doesn't launch, there is a mod conflict.

Have no clue whether any other mods alter the "db/font" file but they might. I doubt it, but they might. To my knowledge (and I've modded TW for over 10 years) I am the first and only person who tried modifying this db file to fix text size. I can't imagine there's a conflict but hey, anything is possible.

Now uploaded is a screenshot of me using the mod, today, about 5 minutes ago. With no CTD's and no updates required. Screenshot is of the main menu and you can see the larger text in the UI menu.

Here are the steps I followed to get the mod to work:

Step 1: Subscribed via Steam Workshop

Step 2: Enabled the Mod

Step 3: Launched the game
Chilltex Jun 5, 2023 @ 10:05am
Does not work. Crashes on start, it is also stated as outdated. Have unsubbed, verified and retried. Still not work on the second attempt. Instead of blaming internet connections and faulty downloads, maybe check to see if there is some issues with the current version that is uploaded?
Brado  [author] May 30, 2023 @ 1:00pm
Attila has not received an update in years (and will not). This mod takes the font from size 8 and scales it to size 12, 14 and in some cases 16. That's it. That's the best that can be done without UI scaling.

If you believe the mod doesn't work then it either didn't download correctly from workshop or you simply don't notice the subtle difference in text size.

This mod alters a single data file (db/fonts) which to my knowledge isn't modded by any other mod on the workshop, unless the in-game font is modified by the mod.

Even in cases of file load conflict, there is literally no reason this mod should ever crash anyone's game, unless, again, it failed to download correctly from the workshop in which case unsub/resub and validate should remedy the issue (not unique to this mod or any other.)
Brado  [author] May 30, 2023 @ 12:43pm
This mod doesn't scale the UI. It makes the menu and tooltip fonts slight larger, within the limits imposed by the game.
Hohenstein May 30, 2023 @ 7:46am
At my first attempt to launch this game with this mod, it crashed at the launch. The second time it did start, but the mini UI was still not scaled up. As long as the modder doesen't update this - which it seems he won't - dont bother with this.
Brado  [author] May 2, 2023 @ 7:19am
"Attila hasn't been updated in years. Not sure why this would suddenly be causing problems unless CA has substantially modified its launcher, which they haven't."
SnakesX4 May 1, 2023 @ 5:34pm
This mod doesn't work, the Author will probably reply the game hasn't been updated in years thus it works, but it doesn't work and idgaf.
RebelKillSwitch Jul 5, 2022 @ 3:37pm
no clue why but as others have stated totally crashes the game on startup.
Swaggaccino May 18, 2022 @ 9:44am
Yeah doesn't work for me either. I crash upon launch. Clean install + no other mods.
Brado  [author] Jan 18, 2022 @ 11:29am
Yes. The mod still works. It does not alter the size of the UI, just enlarges the font slightly.
Óðinn Jan 16, 2022 @ 5:48am
@St0rm_Sax0n thanks for the reply. I get what you are saying. Are you asserting that the mod still works for you?
Brado  [author] Jan 8, 2022 @ 5:54pm
Attila hasn't been updated in years. Not sure why this would suddenly be causing problems unless CA has substantially modified its launcher, which they haven't.
Óðinn Dec 31, 2021 @ 3:17am
Mod cashes on startup, clean install, no other mods. Mod manager warns that game version has changed from the version that the mod was made for.
Praliny Nov 30, 2021 @ 1:30pm
mod crashes game on start, on clean install
earl kalf Sep 27, 2021 @ 2:48pm

Totoy Gulat Aug 16, 2021 @ 9:30am
bro can you make the letters bolder... I appreciate the size but is it possible to make it bold letters.. thanks a ton
Brado  [author] Aug 2, 2021 @ 7:55pm
In general, best practice for CA titles is to clean out your appdata folder, located in your user/appdata/roaming/The Creative Assembly folder in Windows (includes fx, cache, etc...) Can leave your preference files, save games.

Make sure "enable out of date mods" box is always checked.

If that doesn't help, you might have to unsubscribe/resubscribe the mod, or manually d/l a third-party TW mod manager which will generate a user.script file in your scripts folder.

These are just general TW mod troubleshooting tips, if this doesn't work then I'm unsure what the issue would be, might check the twcenter forums (most reliable info source, as CA doesn't answer troubleshooting tickets)
Chen Jul 22, 2021 @ 5:51pm
game crashes when i enable this mod, if nothing's changed in attila but the launcher gets frequent updates maybe it's the problem?
Brado  [author] Jul 14, 2021 @ 5:56pm
Attila has not been updated in at least 5 years, thus, the mod still works.
The Big Tuna Jul 6, 2021 @ 11:19am
No longer works.
JackoGardiner Dec 25, 2020 @ 6:44am

And why it doesn't work in my game ?
Scotvince Sep 7, 2019 @ 3:47am
Do you think you could make the same thing for Shogun 2 ?
Brado  [author] Sep 6, 2019 @ 6:15pm
Attila hasn't been updated in years. The only files that have changed are the launcher.
Scotvince Sep 4, 2019 @ 1:55am
I confirm it is not updated for the latest version of the game, and it is not working at all.
Brado  [author] Jun 17, 2019 @ 4:11pm
This mod is up to date.
Scotvince Jun 11, 2019 @ 1:11am
Update ?
Rodrrico May 19, 2019 @ 10:37pm
Looks like this has been abandoned.
ApolloOne May 16, 2019 @ 7:01pm
