I have been using this mod for years and now the early game feels a bit pointless. Could you perhaps do a version of this that still does all the post erchius fixes and removes the requirment to gain core crystals, but still requires you to do the erchius quest in order to fix your ship?
I have been trying to balence out my modpack and being able to teleport straight to the ark feels weird.

yay this mod fixes that troublespot in the game which halts your progression. I hate mining quests...if I wanted to mine I would go play minecraft.

@16BitPotato in frackin universe i belive, they added floating pufferfish enemies which are quite strong and are desgined to knock the player off the platforms and to their deaths

Only reason I hate this mission is because of how unfun the fucking flying bastards before the boss are. It's like Chucklefish went "nah you can't play this mission intelligently and get to the boss with tier 1 gear, we need to put in something stupid so you HAVE to play our way. Really ruins the fun.

Maybe it won't fix your problem, but it will let them know that there are a lot of frustrated users out there who want better compatibilities. Sorry I can't help since there's not much I can do on my end. And no worries about your comment, I get how frustrating it can be.

Hi Logan, like I've said just right below you, FU update broke this mod again.

Please ask FU team to ensure better compatibility with other mods since the piece of codes that both this mod and FU changed can actually be made compatible from their end.

my ship is infact still broken with a new character, i can in fact not go to the outpost right of the bat, it does not appear to function with FU as my ship only works in vanilla so this mod is in fact not working like it says it should, and yes i tested this after booting the ships AI but its all as stated above, broken like i don't have the mod on. at all which is a shame cause i really dont wanna do the mining facility.... ugh attempt 4 at trying to get this to work i guess

I understand! I always strive for compatibility for all of my mods, right from the design. I have tried to make the compatible with FU as well several times in the past.

With FU constant changes and especially FU not making this easy though, to keep this mod compatible with FU I can only see two routes at the moment, and both depend on FU team:

1) purposely make the parts which this mod and FU changed compatible (obviously can be done judging from their codes - last time I checked theirs was unnecessarily complicated so other mods need extra steps to make ours compatible with FU; 2) have someone from FU team help me maintaining this mod to stay compatible with FU.

Sorry if this response is not satisfying. If there is enough demand on FU side though, maybe they will consider it.

Yeah, I had assumed as much considering the most recent update date on this mod was over a year ago, but I was still hopeful that it was an error on my part. Would you be willing to look at updating it again sometime soon to make it compatible in that area, or are you planning to just leave it as is? Obviously no rush, we're thankful for all the work you've put in so far :)

Hi Boner Jones! And everyone. Sorry, I haven't gotten the chance to work on this mod again.

On the issue with FU though, yes, it was compatible. But FU team changed their code several times and reverted my mod. I tried to keep up but their changes don't make it easy. So if it's not compatible again then 90% sure there's a change on FU end again.

Hey, I just wanted to let you know that the part in your description "[...] but also make the Vinalisj introduction quest in FU (the one where you have to make crafting tables) COMPLETELY OPTIONAL" is either false, or bugged for me. I've used this mod for the better part of three years, and whilst it does make the Erchius Mining Facility mission optional, it doesn't do the same for all the initial FU quests (which get repetitive very quickly when you make as many new characters as I do). Is there any way I can have you look at this to see if it's general issue or just my playthrough please? I can make a pastebin of my starbound.log if necessary.

To elaborate on what SirKrag mentioned; with Outpost Overhaul installed, the teleporter bookmark the player starts with leads to a nonexistent location, causing the teleport to simply abort and deleting the bookmark. The Gateway still works without issue.

Personally, I prefer it this way, since it gives the player more options and renders this mod less intrusive to the flow of the story; the Gateway is once again tied to the story instead of just... being there, and the player can choose to completely forgo the Outpost and wander off to do survivalcraft things.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS MOD. For some reason, my game crashes in this mission? And it didn't happen before? And i was getting tired of getting crash screens every time i went to fight the boss. Now im free not only from the erchius mine, but from the tedious scanning mission. GOD BLESS YOU.

Started a new game, but Penguin Pete doesn't offer the optional Erchius Facility side quest.
I'm running this mod alongside the "Skip the Story" mod, so I'm wondering if there's a known conflict between these mods...?

@Mythic Down, If that was true, it would be odd. I don't have any beef with Sayter.

I even helped him redo FU's mod description with graphics and all (similar to the one I made on this mod page), due to many users not reading FAQs. Before someone else made another design overhaul.

It's an open secret that FU cannibalizes other mods and intentionally makes other mods whose authors they dislike incompatible.

I mean Sayter has expressed several times that he's not too keen on letting the tutorials be skipped, so why don't let others handle that aspect - that's what I meant to ask. Might be an inconsequential task for some but I spent quite a few hours to make this play nicely with FU...

I think it's less that it's intentionally being made incompatible and more that they don't care about this mod at all so they don't take it into consideration when making changes

I think the removal of the key item was so that there isn't a random item you need for it when it could be done that you don't need the item (and not to intentionally break mods that allow you to skip it)

I think there are plans on adding something to FU to allow skipping the tutorial stuff if you've already done it before, though it's still being decided on how best to implement it

Thanks for the info. If new FU update breaks this again, it's pretty disheartening to hear that FU doesn't make it easy for other modders to make our mods easily compatible with each other. Would've been extra helpful if there's some guide to fasttrack changes made in recent updates since I don't always have the time to monitor mod updates.

Hope Hubnester or someone from FU team around here can shed some light into it!

The FU portion of this mod seems to no longer work, I feel the maintainers have made yet another change to their mod that negates this one. Even if you have the key, if you haven't done their tutorial quest, it will not let you enter the cavern. you can't abort nor deny the starter quest. I only have this mod and FU installed. I don't have the same issue as the others, The mod just has no effect on FU. Heres my pastebin if it helps: https://pastebin.com/YhW8Uqg0

You're welcome. And don't stress yourself about it. It is your free time you are sacrificing, so take all the time you need. Also, deleting these items takes about 5 seconds, so it's not the end of the world.

I'm experiencing the same issue as Shimo with FU installed. Started a new game (fresh install of the game also) and haven't finished any quests yet, except crafting a furnace and a foraging table.

Whenever I beam up or down to/from the ship, I am given 5 bombs and an Ancient Device with the description "A strange device made by the Ancients". Each of these Ancient devices also takes up a whole inventory slot, as they can not be stacked.

This has started even before speaking to the fat white thing.
