this helps out sooo much with performance! thank you! :dip:

Some features are unnecessary, but overall very handy for FPS boosting. If, by chance, you are still working on the this, adding mod config support for enabling/disabling specific things would be useful.

Thanks a lot, I will definitely take a look! I wish I could help, but I have no idea about modding/coding... :steamsad:

Pushed what I have, LMK if I missed anything other than the Ashpit and Utero screen shaders.
AngelicKnight  [author] Aug 7, 2021 @ 5:58pm
This would be for level/stage overlays. UI elements like the giantbook-type items are not included. Not sure it'd help though, they should still have their activation times just you could remove the texture that pops up. Not hard to implement if you really want I should be able to create another mod for it since it doesn't fall in the scope for this one.
DragonStem44 Aug 7, 2021 @ 5:38pm
Wait
do things like Yera rune and like Book of Belial count? cuz thatd be great
AngelicKnight  [author] Aug 7, 2021 @ 2:50pm
Or at least I assume they're shaders since I don't see any other way for them to be incorporated right now. Still digging.
AngelicKnight  [author] Aug 7, 2021 @ 2:49pm
A lot of the new effects are shaders and I don't see a clear way to override them. I've got the new level overlays handled but the main stages that I'm trying to solve are Ashpit and Utero.
Ohaguro Aug 6, 2021 @ 1:37pm
Any updates?

Thanks a lot!

Just letting you know I am working on this. Got a lot going on right now but I have made some progress on updating this.
Ohaguro Jul 8, 2021 @ 6:50am
Thank you so much!
AngelicKnight  [author] Jul 7, 2021 @ 2:08pm
Sorry! I've been busy but updating my mods has been on a checklist. I'll see if I can get working on it this weekend.
Ohaguro Jul 7, 2021 @ 11:33am
Please update this! Or someone make a new one!
cosmogyral_delirium Jun 2, 2021 @ 11:04pm
I loved this mod in Afterbirth+. I miss playing with it in Repentance, and would very much appreciate an update incorporating Repentance's overlays. (Chapter 4's effects are the worst offenders for me. Even worse, Utero's new underwater distortion effect makes me seasick.) Whether or not you're able to update this mod, thank you very much for making it!
Mx. Sinister May 14, 2021 @ 7:36pm
hey, can you update it now?
phrog Apr 5, 2021 @ 10:04am
hope you update this mod once repentance has mods
Zeph Nov 3, 2018 @ 11:10am
Doesn't seem to remove curse of darkness effect. Is that intentional? I know, game balance and all that, but curse of darkness is really just annoying to deal with. So hard to see.
GaussTheWizard Mar 16, 2018 @ 3:39pm
Only if you haven't killed Mom's Heart.
Eve Feb 27, 2018 @ 12:58pm
Does this disable achievments?
rainya Sep 28, 2017 @ 1:29am
Im guessing this does the same as the Fogless mod?
SprSnpr_ Jul 6, 2017 @ 6:32pm
Very helpful mod :B1: i have very bad eyesight (legally blind infact) and the burning basement overlay always made it so hard to see anything
Kiblygon Feb 20, 2017 @ 7:06pm
Is there a way to do this without the workshop. I'd love to have this and still make progress in the game.
nick_speed99 Feb 12, 2017 @ 2:11pm
brimstone still makes my game lag a bit other than that this mod works great
AgentCucco Jan 8, 2017 @ 12:01pm
It didn't work.
AngelicKnight  [author] Jan 7, 2017 @ 9:56pm
Not certain where your going wrong then. When testing that with the newest version of AB, the effect is removed. If you'd like here's a link to a vaild config.ini : https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/84324755/config.ini
AgentCucco Jan 7, 2017 @ 9:39pm
That's what I did.
AngelicKnight  [author] Jan 7, 2017 @ 9:01pm
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\The Binding of Isaac Rebirth\resources

Put the file there.
AgentCucco Jan 7, 2017 @ 7:52pm
Yeah, but I create a file named config.ini and it's just a notepad file, nothing special, it obviously didn't worked when I tried. So how do I create a functional config.ini file and where?
AngelicKnight  [author] Jan 7, 2017 @ 2:53pm
@agentpollito The file should be called config.ini
AgentCucco Jan 7, 2017 @ 12:53pm
Well, I tried making the config.ini file and pasting the options there (like in the source given by @O'Nightmare! ⚣), but it didn't worked, I tried pasting the options in the options file located in the save folder but it didn't worked either.

Anyone here knows how to eliminate the water from the game?
AngelicKnight  [author] Jan 7, 2017 @ 12:50pm
@zgd3 Could you get me what seed you were playing on? Makes testing alt floors simple.
zgd3 Jan 7, 2017 @ 12:45pm
@Agentpollito Didnt they just make it so packages take priority over loose files?, Which would mean some things still works.

@AngelicKnight Many rooms seem to have animated walls (seeping water) it seems, and those who have also have water dripping effects occationally
AgentCucco Jan 7, 2017 @ 12:33pm
@O'Nightmare! ⚣ Now that the Devs messed up with the resources folder (making impossible to install mods manually or adding any content via this folder), creating a "config.ini" file there no longer works.
AngelicKnight  [author] Jan 7, 2017 @ 5:14am
@zgd3 Got the embers and burning walls down, looking for any other things I can change.
AngelicKnight  [author] Jan 7, 2017 @ 4:53am
Looking into those. Some things may not be able to be changed with the current modding API.
zgd3 Jan 7, 2017 @ 2:59am
In addition to Agenpollito's suggestion, and O'Nightmare!'s edit, I'd love to see removal of more effects which might make it preform worse on old computers. Like embers in Burning basement, the tiny flies, and perhaps even wall animations in special floors (the burning basement ones for example). Nice work otherwise.
o'night Jan 6, 2017 @ 3:36pm
@Agentpollito
create config.in in /resources/ folder and paste this there:

[Options]
EnableWaterSurface=0

source
AgentCucco Jan 6, 2017 @ 5:41am
The only thing I want to remove is the water/blood from Flooded Caves/Scarred Womb. Those really drop my fps, like I'm playing at 30 fps and when I enter to Flooded caves it drops to 10-15 fps
Gond Jan 4, 2017 @ 6:58pm
The overlays really dipped my performance and this mod solves the issue completely. FPS completely stable now. Thanks a lot. As a side note for people saying it doesnt take off curse of darkness, that isnt what this mod should be setting out to do..
Kiblygon Jan 4, 2017 @ 6:51pm
Thank you for this, I have a craptop.
Tyrant Jan 4, 2017 @ 11:18am
Oh, I misinterpreted your reply. Thanks.
AngelicKnight  [author] Jan 4, 2017 @ 11:18am
Curse of darkness has not been removed it still applies.
Tyrant Jan 4, 2017 @ 11:08am
Er.. well actually curse of darkness being removed feels a bit too much like a cheat. I just want to remove the ambient stuff that certain floors have that aren't part of curses and such.
'You're Cool!' & 100 Other Jokes Jan 4, 2017 @ 11:03am
For all you know, Mcmillen might add a verification system for mods so certain ones enable 'cheiv's
