Could you add patchwork wool as well?
gamer nerd Jan 14, 2018 @ 9:11am
"good even when they are bad" you mean, you can make a GOOD chair, with BAD components/leather?
Mouf  [author] Jan 12, 2018 @ 5:58pm
All patchwork leather is the same regardless of inputs, yeah. Only reason to turn good leathers (or really any leathers) into it is if the stack you have of that type isn't big enough to make anything else out of. Meant as a convenience more than anything else, tho tbh other than value the stat difference isn't particularly noticeable. Particularly good for comfy chairs, which take a lot of mats but are good even when they're bad, if that makes sense.

so, since it is a crappier version of leather, i should NOT make patchwork leather out of good/high quality stuff, as then it will be crap? or is there a difference, between patchwork leather made from rat skin, to elephant skin? does it scale up, or is ALL patchwork leather the same stat, regardless of original "components" so to speak?

Thank you!

@Pigeon On A Stick Hey sure thing, updated. Made kind of redundant by that CrustyTextiles mod though, imo. That's what I use anyway ;)
Pigeon On A Stick Dec 3, 2017 @ 2:40pm
Will this be updated to B18?

Hey there, I was visiting the main page and just saw this mod: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1176905118&searchtext= Obviously your's has been made before, but I don't know if the person simply pick up your code and said it was theirs, or rewrote down from 0, or had a independent idea. Just passing through to send you a advice, though.

I know someone else suggested putting this mod on the ludeon forums, specifically linking the dev inclusion thread, but might I suggest you simply upload the mod to the mod release forum for those of us who don't own the steam copy of rimworld but instead have a drm-free version?

I've been desperate for a way to clear out my bloated leather stockpiles and the only other mods I've found are either out of date or also steam-exclusive.

I confirm that none of the tailoring bench, electric TB or crafting spot propose the patchwork leather, sorry. I even built new ones to be sure the bill was registered, but nothing, nada...
BladeofSharpness Jun 1, 2017 @ 10:01pm
Should I not see a bill at the (non electrical) tailoring bench to make patchwork leather?
BladeofSharpness Jun 1, 2017 @ 1:12pm
yeeeeah!!
Mouf  [author] Jun 1, 2017 @ 12:35pm
Hey dudes, sorry for the delay, lost track a bit there. Mod now updated for alpha 17.
BladeofSharpness May 30, 2017 @ 10:15pm
Same question, A17 that would be awesome :)
BCS May 25, 2017 @ 7:55am
OH MY GOD I am so happy I found this. Will it still work with A17?
Jet Mar 9, 2017 @ 3:47am
Looks like a useful mod. Finally a way to get rid of odd leather stacks

I suggest you to publish your mod here, so it could be maintained by the game developers:

This seems to break my stones & steel stacking so they can now only be 1 per tile. To be fair I have a ton of mods enabled.

Modify away. Whatever you think is best. Shades of brown are fine. I just preferred an icon that was distinguishable from regular leather.
Mouf  [author] Jan 15, 2017 @ 7:06am
@Thundercraft

Hey, cheers for that, much appreciated. I'll fix that beauty rating now.

On the icon I'm kind of torn tbh - on one hand it would be good to make it more easily identifiable, but on the other things made out of it (clothes, furniture) will always be one solid colour, and it seems a bit misleading to make the resource itself look otherwise. Was a non-issue to begin with, since I'm more or less incapable of artistic, but your generous contribution has put me on the spot ;)

I'll muck about with it for a bit and see how it goes. Do you mind if I modify the sprites you provided? Thinking of trying to make it four different kinds of brown, so you can see it's patchy but then aren't surprised when the thing you make out of it also turns out to be brown.
Thundercraft Jan 14, 2017 @ 3:20pm
Actually... With the <graphicData> of your original Items_Resource_Patchwork.xml, that sprite I made looks too dark. It looks better with this:
<color>(255,255,255)</color>

And my original sprite was a bit too big to match vanilla. Here's an updated version:

Your screenshot shows Patchwork leather with a Beauty of -7. However, regular types of leather in vanilla have a Beauty of -20. Shouldn't Patchwork leather also have a Beauty of -20?

BTW: Would you consider using a leather icon made to resemble a patchwork? I threw this one together:

Or, perhaps something like in Assorted Leather Scraps ?

I just think it would be nice if it was easier to tell it apart from the rest at a glance.
Mouf  [author] Jan 5, 2017 @ 7:00am
@bearhiderug Yes indeed, should be able to plug it into any recipe that can use leather. Patchwork animal beds and comfy chairs for one and all.

Possible exception for recipes from other mods - then it depends on how the ingredients are defined, as categories with exceptions or one-by-one. It should work with most of them, though - hard to imagine anyone adding all those leathers to the ingredients list individually, and if they just use the category it will allow patchwork.
Mouf  [author] Jan 5, 2017 @ 3:33am
@Charmed Aha, good spot, thanks. I was messing around with the idea of using small (ie <5) stacks of unwanted leather plus patchwork to make more patchwork, just to clear out any last scraps of iguana skin or whatever. And it does work, sometimes - the AI seems to prioritize the leftovers from the last job when picking ingredients for the next one, so turning patchwork off and on as an ingredient lets you get rid of all unwanted leather without using up any of the stuff you want. But it takes a lot of fiddly micro, and isn't very reliable, so I turned it off.

Or I thought I did, evidently I didn't. I'll updated it when I get home. Cheers!
Charmed Jan 5, 2017 @ 2:45am
Found a bug: patchwork leather is an option, on by default, for making into less patchwork leather at the crafting spot.
cammillotto Jan 4, 2017 @ 8:08am
@mouf

indeed! good job anyhow

I had a look, I think it's the Vegetable Garden mod that has the blended leather. If I'd have known I may not have bothered ;)

You could conceivably run both, but unless you're a masochist there wouldn't be much point in making patchwork, the blended is better in every regard except insulation (5% difference), and takes ~half as much work to make (and no wastage). Although patchwork can be made from crafting spots and blended needs a separate production bench so you could get some value as a tribal, or someone too lazy to build a separate production bench.
cammillotto Jan 3, 2017 @ 1:17pm
not sure it's from another mod. I actually thought it was err...vanilla... I'm using many mods :-) will try to have a look at that later. sometimes I feel I sepend more time on fora than playing hihii
Mouf  [author] Jan 3, 2017 @ 1:08pm
@cammillotto Is that from another mod? Probably the same idea, just different numbers maybe. Also 'patchwork' is a much more entertaining word than 'blended'.
cammillotto Jan 3, 2017 @ 12:58pm
Hello

is there a difference with blended leather?
