It's not the only way to address someone in the comments. You can always just, you know, say their name. It is, however, the go-to method simply because it's used on so many other platforms and is recognisable and familiar.

Starting a comment with @GasmisenFeik is no different to starting it with just, GasmisenFeik, but the former is simply more common.

Once subscribed to the mod and liked it, but aside that, thanks for giving more clarification on the whole “@InsertNameHere” thing. I always thought it was an Augmented Steam or BetterTTV-like thing for Steam, and it was a legitimate feature or something, not a sort of unspoken “slang” on here.

It's the only way to say "hey, I'm speaking to you specifically among the hundreds of other commenters" and lets the person being addressed know it's directed to them when they're subscribed to a thread.

I haven't touched Starbound stuff in nearly four years, so I can't really recall much. I just remember it's in a single .png image in either a "death" or "dying" folder.

I thought it was clear enough that it's client-sided, but I just now went ahead and put that into the description for clarity. It will not affect your multiplayer experience.

yes please do tell if its client side, I mostly play multiplayer and getting my friend to install mods is a challange if they havent used them before, so I would like it if its client side so that I dont have to convince them (somehow, its hard)

I had long felt like the death animation was a bit bland. It was basically you just going 'poof' while this one actually has some proper expression to it.

I love and hate this:

However They always fall left, kind of strange if you, say, shoot them from the left and they fall awkwardly.

I haven't played the game in a long time, so I can't really answer, but it should work since it was just a simple image file replacement. The only thing that shouldn't let it work is if you add another mod that edits how dying works or if Chucklefish renamed the death animation files for some reason.

Makes trying to not die a important factor, because once you die, you see this... then you feel bad. :(

But when you defeat a opposing enemy and see this... then you feel good because you know it's not you. :P
