How are you actually supposed to do anything with this map? The terrain is so randomly hilly in an un-uniform way so that even a relatively short track can cost millions to make.

good map but why do you put a bridge
to Ireland, yes a bigger map be good
Notrius Jun 19, 2019 @ 11:13am
too small
Lance Pinciotti Feb 25, 2019 @ 11:49am
ever thought of making an 8k version? also, I really prefer the older map, more terrain = more challenge, and less cities means more room for elaborate systems and drives single town growth

you know Norwich is bigger than cambridge and the trainstation is connected to EVERYWHERE!!!

You do realise that you can connect to whatever town/city you feel like connecting to in this game. This is not a real life version.
If it was then you could expect something like this to happen.... ;-)

London also contains more than 100 houses and 8 roads :)
When I made this in 2016, I just wanted a representation of the UK, hence its a UK & Ireland shaped map.. but not an accurate map of the UK & Ireland.

Feel free to change / re-upload etc..

In free mode setup screen, look at the right side of the screen. There will be a menu that will allow you to choose the type of "Map" ("Random" is the standard). Change that to whatever map you've downloaded.

For some reason this map won't come up for me to choose in game. Has anyone else found a fix for this problem? I haven't had trouble with any other maps.
𝓕𝔁  [author] Oct 16, 2017 @ 9:53am
@Yaltar - I don't recall making this an experimental map size though... but yeah I do have that setting changed in my game, so perhaps there is some correlation.
yaltar Oct 16, 2017 @ 8:26am
@FxUK @lilmisschloe The Experimental Map size setting must be set to experimentalMapSizes = true in the "settings.lua" file. You can do this with Notepad.
(File can be found: Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\"userid"\446800\local)
𝓕𝔁  [author] Sep 22, 2017 @ 12:22pm
@lilmisschloe - not sure why that is the case, when I play, it is the full map as expected
icklejitta Sep 22, 2017 @ 11:33am
When I use this, the game only has a small section of the map? Is it possible to play on the whole island at once?
AshTheHedghog13 Aug 24, 2017 @ 10:29pm
@FX2K Thank you! I'll be enjoying your creation
𝓕𝔁  [author] Aug 13, 2017 @ 5:14am
@CastStudio - you dont have to activate map mods in the same way.
Insteaad, when starting a new game, choose a custom map to the right of Terrain Type
"Select map..."
AshTheHedghog13 Aug 13, 2017 @ 12:26am
I can't get this to work, every time I go to mods and add it it just spawns with a randomized map
cw_315 Aug 5, 2017 @ 10:38am
Great map, it would be better if a few more major cities were added such as Manchester and Sheffield
Aestiri Jul 28, 2017 @ 3:41am
Thoroughly enjoying this map, played well nd truely for hours. The inclusion of ireland makes for interesting route options.
𝓕𝔁  [author] Jul 4, 2017 @ 3:12pm
See my post a little further down for the file location.
Go to the website in my recent reply and upload the heightmap image file, place some towns/industries etc and export the heightmap, if I remember correctly, it generates all the files needed for your own mod. It's not too difficult.
Prof_Troll Jul 4, 2017 @ 3:01pm
@FX2k ahh now that i look at it, it makes sense now thanks for response, im not sure how to edit stuff, never really looked in to it
𝓕𝔁  [author] Jul 4, 2017 @ 2:46pm
@Troll - I left the industry to self generate based on the game engine, so it wasn't my doing as such :) Feel free to edit it, perhaps even using something like the following to make it easier

https://www.transportfevermods.com/en/mapcreator.html
If you do, feel free to share it on the workshop for others.
Prof_Troll Jul 4, 2017 @ 2:22pm
why does ireland have all the food production on it and england only has 1 crop field ?
𝓕𝔁  [author] May 20, 2017 @ 8:06am
@NameTheCaptain - I have taken a break from this game / modding atm, but you can go to
...Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\446800\797161966\maps\fx2k_uk_large
Edit map.lua and lower the range down from 265, this should allow you to flatten it.

:steamhappy:
NameTheCaptain May 20, 2017 @ 7:10am
Excellent mod, but could you make a flatter version?
Hellsvien Mar 29, 2017 @ 10:17pm
About to do my first HARD challenge using this map with no other mods. Wish me luck and thanks for the map.
Silky Rough Mar 22, 2017 @ 3:03pm
Enjoyed? No sir, that's past tense. Enjoying. Right now even :)

In passing though, had a small hitch adding water transport (Dublin/Liverpool) yesterday. Game stopped letting me click anything after a long wait when I added Dublin to the line. Restarted and it fixed itself so no biggie. Probably a game bug because I doubt simply plotting a long water route would do that.

@Silky Rough - Happy to hear you enjoyed it :steamhappy:
Silky Rough Mar 22, 2017 @ 2:24pm
Played this map for a few hours yesterday. I combined it with 4x time scaling and it made for a solid and methodical game which I very much enjoyed. With the obvious starting areas on flat ground and close (London/Brighton etc.) right up to the quite hilly terrain in western England/central Ireland, progression was very nice as I expanded and modified my transport empire. Placement of industry seemed to suit my style of play very, very well.

Nice work FX. Thank you.

Ok, I get it. It's kind of tough enough to get towns into their correct spots on a map.
Placing industries, yea it could be done placing them randomly, but I m sure there would be plenty of users complaining afterwards saying they a re in the wrong spots etc..
As I said beautiful height map and I m saying this because I dabbled with heightmaps in Cities:Skylines and know how much time it takes So it is too bad that there isn't an easier way to seed industries, but if anyone complains just send them the same route you sent me. ;)

Badenser Mar 10, 2017 @ 7:08pm
Thanks @FX2K , , I imagine towns could be placed getting cords but I have no clue how to place industries. Seeing there is no code for it, I imagine you are relying on the game itself for generating them.
𝓕𝔁  [author] Mar 10, 2017 @ 6:18pm
Feel free to edit the locations etc

Badenser Mar 10, 2017 @ 5:34pm
I love the map itself, but with the current placement of indy and towns it is not very enjoyable
wabbithunta Jan 2, 2017 @ 10:04pm
@DeadAnt You'll more than likely have to use the original map in a map creator to add towns and industries etc. also all roads are made automatically between the locations of towns etc. provided that the map is useable by the game, and you'll only find that out when loading it, if it doesn't work you'll get an error message telling you the problem.

Use these links to help with the maps

Also you can download maps from anywhere in the World from http://terrain.party/

How do you make a map in Transport Fever?

DeadAnt Jan 2, 2017 @ 10:36am
I want to use the Industry creator mod with this map, but... I want to remove all industries from this map first. Any easy way to do that?
wabbithunta Dec 26, 2016 @ 5:20am
@FX2k That's what I've used, among others, thanks for the heads up though, much appreciated. I usedthis to adapt a map I use in Cities Skylines. Had to go heavy on the map editing though as the terrain heights were a real problem. Street/road connections didn't get created because of that issue. Working now I've "adapted" the map to suit this game :-)

@waabbithunta - There is a tool to assist with this sort of thing:
