However, I am not getting the gold/production yields, do they require an additional tech?
Also, since adding this mod my workers seem to struggle with automation, they either run off to some far away corner, or they seem to develop amnesia, so that they keep asking for orders everytime I end a turn. Any advice?

Check Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS if theres a civmod file in there called Civ5farm.mod.Extract it using winRAR or 7Z it will work.

You can modify it manually by changing it in mod folder in XML file.
