Genuinely one of the worst maps in the game. It's absolutely awful. Ghosts right outside of spawns, randomly placing damage nodes around the cart, spells and bosses everywhere when they effectively add nothing, etc. So glad to get the contract on this map over with so I never have to play it again.

Yeah I figured that might be the reason. That being said, the melee only curse tends to kill the pacing of the round quite hard and I really don't think a payload map is suited for it in the first place.

Carnival of Carnage being more open ended of a map with a focus on deathmatch style gameplay as opposed to attack and defense lends itself to the mechanic much better.

I once considered it, but it seemed logical not to do so. Once the spell ends, that lasts only the duration of the music, everyone is back and fight continues. Sentries are kind of important for keeping the defence/offence intact.

Please for the love of all that is holy implement the same sentry-emptying logic that Carnival of Carnage uses whenever Merasmus gathers both teams for a spell. Or get rid of the melee-only curse entirely, since being stuck with melee when there's still three sentries up is very annoying

At the corner(picture 7)The Red Team can put sentry nests on roof shack or Containers.Keep in mind that,the sentries do have a long range to kill out any Blu passes when pushing through.How both places can be usable to kill Blu, without having Blu spy can easy sap them.
The corner dosen't have external side path.The Iternal side path is just easy rocket jump away from spawncamping the Blu team 2nd spawnroom.
This is complete opposite of Bad Water corner of C point.

June 7. 2018 update notes included this change:

- Fixed server crash related to the CTriggerAddTFPlayerCondition map entity

Turns out that there was a bug in the code that caused gameservers to crash when a player died during being small, big headed and was still dead when the big head spell ended. This bug was fixed in the update and it also affected to this map.

Thanks to Valve for looking into it and fixing it.

I was thinking on my walk today, it was Brimstone and Hellstone that got me to thinking, maybe its time to finally learn to rocket jump. :demoticon:

I'm thinking valve added accidentally some sort of regression to the code that is causing occasional crashes on this map. It didnt crash last year at all and started only this year. The patch i did which they included, didnt add anything that could cause a crash either.

I dont think its something i can fix.I tried to contact them and ask help for locating the issue but i didnt receive any reply so far. Event is over tomorrow, so propably there wont be a fix before next year event, if there is one at this rate.

Servers are crashing alot, maybe this is due to to a conflict with the contracker?
Also it consumes a huge amount of RAM, memory leak ?

Say, I got stuck on Brimstone last week. Other side of the sheet metal in the picture on the right. I was a BLU Scout hugging the wall behind cover when C was capped and was trapped in the Arrow sign that slides up. I guess my coordinates were between the wall and rising sign when it slid up.

Yes the wiki isnt always right in many things and some things are not even changeable by normal users like us, only admins, which sucks. There has been many errors id like to fix, but i was unable to.

Thank you, but I was asking only because it is clear, at least in my mind that the wiki is in error and I want to fix it as I update/complete the wiki map articles.

BTW, Hellstone is my go-to map for Skeleton testing. :demoticon:

So, working on wrapping up Brimstone strategy before I publish, while I am at it I see that a Skeleton strategy article is missing, so I am almost done with that and then I realize that the health and damage stats in TF official wiki article are clearly wrong. So I'm wondering, if you don't mind the question, asking you if you have good health and damage stat on Sketons?

Purgatory restores health, gives crits and ubers normally after you exit. Its the 2nd and last area of the hell that didnt do that. It will be fixed in a future update, if valve adds up the patch i sent to them.

The players will get their health restored after a future update launches. I dont know when valve will add it in but i hope sometime before halloween.

The monoculus spawns at the lava pit only.

I know that health is not restored when arriving on the Hell side, but I am not certain that players get the normal Purgatory arrival health restoration. I know they get the exit buff.

I created a list of spells and added meramus lines and different effects for the spells themselves, with durations and how long they last. Some use condionts, some are just making damage and visual effects, such as the hot steam from ground. Some of the conditions only work when triggered by certain entity/event or the wheel of doom itself.

Right, player conditions, I looked at those first time earlier this summer. So, 85 /is/ melee only plus both Minify and speed up.

Is you Merasmus spell random from a set of spells or do you have a sequence of spell that start in a random l place in the list? I see a bleed and fire spell in your list, but have never seen then in game --are they disabled or are they just far down the list?

There is a thing called player conditions, and this one is 85 if i remember correctly. Basically they just add bunch of "player state" that can be turned on and off. https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Trigger_add_tf_player_condition

Yeah, I just wanted to let you know that I haven't walked away from this. It is (still) mostly done, have I put more time into this than the Hellstone article, but I doubt that it will be quite as good.

I guess you could say that the possibility of crush death is just part of the tiny melee curse.

Its fine, its all optional and up to you. The melee curse dying happens on any server. Valve "fixed" the small melee thing during sd_doomsday_event was released that people who "grow up" to their normal size dont end up inside terrain but instead die, if they are on place where it can push them inside the ground (something above them). But the Valve code is buggy, people keep dying unless they are in a completely flat terrain. If they walk upwards of terrain, they usually die.

I have been back on the 70-80 hour work weeks for a few weeks now, so the Brimstone article is being drawn out. I am working on Brimstone a little today and maybe a little more tomorrow but I'm not sure that I will get it done this weekend.

I noticed that on the melee curse that the player dies about half the time at the end of the curse.

Yes, killing monoculus gets you to the end part of the hell area. So does going through the coffins too. Either those open or monoculus spawns that round that leads you there.

thx. I did notice the portal opened in the explosion, I tried it once, but the round humiliation ends so soon after that. I assu.e killing MONOCULUS opens a portal to the altar side.

OK. The big ghost always seemed to spawn from a little different location each time I was killed by the explosion.

/ Hi. In single play studying the map, it seems that the Gibus GHOST spawns whereever I am when th payload explosion kills me. Is that the case? Does every one killed by the payload explosion turn into a Gibbs Ghost?/

No, the big gibus ghost appears from the portal each the that the payload explodes. Players can also go into the portal that appears and get teleported to underworld at that time. There is only 1 ghost at the end.

I did maps for both, jungle update and for this years halloween. My maps arent going to be part of the "jungle update" but i have 2 halloween maps in the works. I will release one of them soon and the other a bit later. Maybe they end up to the game, maybe not. That remains to be seen if they are good enough. Thanks for your interest!
