I like it but I found it very clunky to use. When the whip anchors to the light, you cannot walk left or right, or jump, or shorten the length of the whip, which makes swinging very difficult, if not near impossible.

if possible it'd be so nice to see hit detection for the grapple somehow improve. i've no clue how that sort of thing works, but it'd be great to see swinging become easier.

i was using the arachne race mod and i could already do this with the web whip im not sure if its just that whip or its already in game but im pretty sure this already happens

Can you make it so that you can just grapple anywhere? It wouldn't be realistic but it would be fun as hell.

Other than that, this mod is awesome, Indiana Jones FTW

The only issue is that it's hard to grapple onto things after being swung from a previous one
Maybe a lock on or larger grapple radius?

any hope in someone or this mod getting improvements? like grappling into beams and being able to jump while hooked so you can do more tricks with it, being able to swing with more strength would be nice too.

I find using a whip and a grappling hook together or two whips helps getting around with this mod

pretty sure you have to be in the air, you can't just latch on from the ground and then launch/swing lke you can with a grappling hook. I really like this idea, but ultimately found it impractical - also only seems to work with vanilla light sources, and for things like strip lights or anything that takes up more than one square, getting it to register the hit seems spotty. A combo between whip action and more-akin-to grappling hook action would be sweet, without the reliance on certain light sources, but I understand the limitations involved. Maybe if any forground block were swingable from, or if whips had more range. It was fun to play with for a while, though.

I can't get it to work, either. I am have Whipcraft and Saryx E-Type installed and am using the Iron Chain, but no matter where on the torch I try to hit it just whips it and recoils back like normal. Do you have to be jumping to use it?

did you aim at a light source? it won't just work on surfaces or background unless there's a torch etc where you click.

Clicking and holding attack just attacks normally. No swingy.

so.. How does this work? Because it seems to not work.

I like the fact that it adds this function because it reminds me of indiana jones.

It makes sense for a light source because that gives you a marker basically indicating where you can swing from with the whip. and the fact that it is basically any light source gives you better mobility and you don't have to identify what light source your able to swing from. that and the light source is not a solid block or anything so you can basically swing right past it unhindered. it's the same concept as how they changed the rail rider and stuff so you won't be able to stand on it and gave it far more mobility and options than it used to. that and the developers of starbound mentioned being able to swing with a whip a while back but never officially put it in game so i guess someone wanted it and thought "what the heck" and "why not"? So that pretty much answers all of your questions you've been meaning to ask right there.
