UPDATE?
abc Dec 7, 2018 @ 7:01pm
can you make them recuritable for eastern factions, like lahkmid, sassanid, the jewish dudes or the garmatians, CA did a really poor job on alot of the eastern rosters, and many of them were well known for taking the deserted legionares into there ranks, or maybe make desert palatina-legionaires recruitble :D
Trombonistanian Sep 16, 2016 @ 7:34am
Its all good! Thanks for the awesome looking mods!
jacobeest  [author] Sep 16, 2016 @ 5:35am
@Trombonistanian: Fixing it, had the same issues with Mauri, sorry for getting back to you this late, but I'm insanely busy!
Trombonistanian Sep 8, 2016 @ 6:35pm
I subscribed, but they are not immune to desert attrition :(
Trombonistanian Sep 6, 2016 @ 7:19pm
I would love a non-dlc version!
Alejandromachinegun Sep 1, 2016 @ 1:00am
Hello, Can you create a similar hoplite like the Spartans, greeks, macedonian or a linothorax hoplite? Please
Sean Aug 31, 2016 @ 10:51am
As far as I know the by-far hardest bit is AoR implementation, particularly when it comes to garrison composition. In fact, I can't recal any time I've seen a region-specific garrison mechanic before.
jacobeest  [author] Aug 31, 2016 @ 10:05am
@Dorian: Thanks man, I appreciate it. I already started working on the unit pack, It'll probably be finished by the end of this week! Yeah same here, but it's really difficult to get into the campaign mechanics, especially changing garrisons with non-vanilla units, because the chances of a screw up are really high, and then you end up wasting hours of your life :p.... But who knows, if the unit pack is received well-enough, I'll try and look into some garrison changes. No hard promises though haha.
Sean Aug 31, 2016 @ 5:50am
Wow, you're good for being a beginner dude.
I'd love to learn how and lend a hand if I can but it's mindbendingly complicated haha
But as an outline, a sword, spear, archer, pike and javelin for each of the limitanei infantry regiments, the comitatenses regiments and the palatini, plus cavalry alae wuld be looking at like 500 units for the Romans alone haha
I mean Radious does some of them, but not modifying the garrisons which is annoying. I'd like to see the various units appear in the garrisons of the areas they can be recruited.
jacobeest  [author] Aug 31, 2016 @ 5:47am
@Dorian: Sure, no problem! I'll look them up and do my best to model the units after both the Mauri Seniores and Juniores. Haha, same here, but I'm sadly just a beginning modder (this is my second mod ever), so for the time being I won't be able to get into that.
Sean Aug 31, 2016 @ 5:39am
Well the Aux Palatina Mauri Seniores and Juniores come to mind as good for the WRE colours for desert troops.
I mean I'd love for an AOR system with every unit from the Nototia present, in garrisons too instead of the generic ones, but that's entering full on total conversion territory there, no way I'd ask one man to do that for free haha
jacobeest  [author] Aug 31, 2016 @ 1:21am
@Dorian: Haha, you don't have to apologize. I'm working the elite western legionaries right now, as requested by Ragnar, but next up I could work on some historically accurate desert units. Perhaps something bigger like a unit pack? Maybe spear units, archers and sword desert legionaries? And if you could look up some pictures or depictions of specific cohorts you'd like to see, I can actually base them on that design.
Sean Aug 30, 2016 @ 6:45am
It may be a lot of work (I have no experience with modding Attila) but I would certainly enjoy it! And I had a look at the Notitia, turns out that the Quinta spent a lot of time on deployment in the eastern field armies, so for the ERE they probably would suit after all (I was looking only at area of origin, because I'm dumb haha)
jacobeest  [author] Aug 30, 2016 @ 2:21am
@Lilium: Thanks for the support!
jacobeest  [author] Aug 30, 2016 @ 2:21am
@Dorian: Thanks for the remark, however I chose the Quinta Macedonica shield design purely because of aesthetics (the red and wite pair perfectly with the tunic colours). But if you'd like, I could make another, historically accurate, unit with the shield designs you suggested?
Alopekis Aug 29, 2016 @ 6:33pm
Gonna try it out. Like the idea of having a unit with a focus in desert warfare.
Sean Aug 29, 2016 @ 4:25pm
I'd recommend a shield change. The current one is of the Quinta Macedonica, which was recruited near the Danube, not the desert areas. I recommend either the
Pseudocomitatensis Armenia Primae or Pseudocomitatensis Armenia Secundae (Look them up in the Notitica Dignatum) and perhaps make the Primae for the WRE and the Secundae for the ERE or vice versa?
jacobeest  [author] Aug 29, 2016 @ 1:39pm
To anyone interested: Elite Western Legionaries are coming up, you can expect them in two or three days!
jacobeest  [author] Aug 29, 2016 @ 11:23am
@[53rd]Emperor Mike.: Thank you :). Well usually my username is Jacobeast, but it was already taken when I installed steam :p. Sorry for the confusion though.
jacobeest  [author] Aug 29, 2016 @ 11:22am
@Ragnar: Good idea, like a unit composed of germanic and roman legionaries? They'd be immune to snow attrition, something like an elite western borderguard?
Siegfried of the Flaming Rose Aug 29, 2016 @ 6:48am
Hello, cool units! Why do you call your mods:Jacobeast when your steam name is jacobeest?
Ragnar Aug 29, 2016 @ 6:28am
Elite West Legionaries ??
jacobeest  [author] Aug 29, 2016 @ 4:45am
Sure, what kind of style were thinking about? Would you like to see the hoplites of old in linothorax, or more of a late antiquity-esque hoplite? And of course, for which faction?
Alejandromachinegun Aug 29, 2016 @ 1:57am
can you do an hoplite unit?
jacobeest  [author] Aug 28, 2016 @ 3:46pm
Next up: Axumite Masked Spearmen/Swordsmen unit pack. If you have any requests, or a unit you'd like to see in-game, post it down below and I'll work on it!
