i was wounjdering if you could make a simple yet effective mod for me quickly
one htat makes the sprinkler water effect invisible it lags me alot and i would appreciate if you did that for me thx :)
ya dont have too btw
I don't know if this game actually has a mod limit, but it might. It's also worth remembering that, as with any moddable game, the more mods you pile on, the more unstable the game will get. The Steam Workshop was always a very bad idea, allowing people to simply pile on mods with a single click, without any knowlegde of what that mod does, or what kinds of mods would be completely incompatible with it. :/
I'm not really sure why a custom weapon mod would need to edit the cursors file in a way that makes them incompatible with ALL other guns, including the vanilla ones, but "ok".
I'm not interested in making any alternate versions of this mod, but you can always go download this mod manually off of the Chucklefish Forums mirror, then just delete the reticle files from the archive before installing it.
So if you're having ANY issues, it must be because another mod is altering the base cursors, and my mod is being loaded after it and reverting the changes. That's the only thing I can think of that could POSSIBLY lead to invisible cursors, since my mod for the targeting reticles is just a glorified recolor... >.>
Sorry, but unless Chucklefish changed the "cursors.png" file yet again, or your monitor is filtering out all orange coloring (sarcasm), then there is no possible way that this mod could be the source of your problems, since I only edited a single PNG file, and nothing else.
Check other mods as the cause, it ain't this one, or at least it's impossible for it to be this mod's fault directly.
I suppose it's plausible, however unlikely, that it could be a mod clashing issue with my mod (but the odds of this are INSANELY small, unless someone else has replaced the same "cursors.png" file, or found a way to redirect which directory the game is looking for said file at in).
- I only know enough about JSON get by, and I know little to zero about LUA, the game's lower-level language for more complex workings.
- Some things simply cannot be changed, as they are hardcoded on the most basic level, where mods cannot touch anything. I'm not gonna spend 3 hours tracing back through code just to find out if cursors.png can be altered like that.
- I'm not very interested in Starbound at present, and have lots of other long-term projects in other spheres occupying my time at the moment. Even if I were interested in Starbound modding again, I can GUARANTEE I'd never spend the eons worth of time it would take to just ATTEMPT such a superficial, minute thing like this.
- Modders make things for themselves, not for other people, and share them because we want to. Since I am fine with having the Avali cursors on all the time, and rarely play as any other race, I have no interest in spending the time to do this.
*Shrug*
Sorry, but as I've explained on here before, there simply is no way to do that, as there is only one cursor file, and it's location and usage is hard coded. *Shrug*
Wait, there's nothing wrong with this mod, and I cannot see why it would require an update to work with v1.3 of the game.
Was there actually a problem with the mod, or were you just "assuming" it wouldn't work...?
Kool... I'll try and look into it when I have the time, but I still don't see anything in the update that would renew my interest in this game... =.=
Cause I like this over the default look.
Uh yeah I mean I suppose you could. You'd need to create and .ico file for each of the cursors you'd wanna use and then add them into a custom cursor set in the Mouse Properties. However I have no clue if Windows supports transparency for it's system cursors.
i rly like these!
Glad you like them. :]
If Chucklefish ever makes use of the expanded cursor list they've had since like the initial beta release then I may feel motivated enough to do the rest of them. :P
Yes it would be considered "client side". Other players wouldn't need to have it installed to play with you in multiplayer (as is the case with almost all UI/HUD mods).
Uh, yeah sure - go ahead.
I have no idea what you are asking... :/
Thanks lol. Not sure I plan on doing a full HUD overhaul though since I still play other races as alts. The cursors are small enough that I can (mostly) just ignore them, but I wouldn't be able to stand a full on HUD replacer. :P
