it only happens when i have my sprinklers on proboly makes alot more lag because of all the mdos i have. i tested in a empty world worked fine before i placed a ton fo sprinklers
Maledy  [author] Jul 23, 2018 @ 7:30pm
@zorich_michael I highly doubt a simple 2D pixel sprite animation thats barely a handful of pixels all told would be the cause of the lag. I could replace the sprite with a blank one, but I seriously doubt it would do anything. I'm certain your problem lies on the code side.
IntellectualPotato Jul 23, 2018 @ 8:32am
hi!

i was wounjdering if you could make a simple yet effective mod for me quickly

one htat makes the sprinkler water effect invisible it lags me alot and i would appreciate if you did that for me thx :)
ya dont have too btw

@_ZeF0X_ Unless there was an update recently that changed how mods are defined and how the .modinfo or _metadata files are written, I can garentee your crash has nothing directly to do with this mod, which doesn't even include any .json files: it's merely a simple .png file replacer.

I don't know if this game actually has a mod limit, but it might. It's also worth remembering that, as with any moddable game, the more mods you pile on, the more unstable the game will get. The Steam Workshop was always a very bad idea, allowing people to simply pile on mods with a single click, without any knowlegde of what that mod does, or what kinds of mods would be completely incompatible with it. :/

I had a LOT of mods (maybe 150 or arround) and it crash WITh this mod. When i remove THIS mod the game works perfectely.
𝟘𝕌𝕋𝔻𝔸𝕋𝟛𝔻 Jun 12, 2018 @ 7:39am
Makes the game crash.
Shoopuf Jul 10, 2017 @ 3:26pm
I can't really say why either, only that it just happens to be the case.
Maledy  [author] Jul 10, 2017 @ 1:36pm
@Udon Sandwich:

I'm not really sure why a custom weapon mod would need to edit the cursors file in a way that makes them incompatible with ALL other guns, including the vanilla ones, but "ok".
Shoopuf Jul 10, 2017 @ 6:32am
Not really asking for alternate compatability versions to be made, just noting that if others have the invisible cursor there's a high chance it's a custom weapon mod causing it.
Maledy  [author] Jul 10, 2017 @ 6:19am
@Udon Sandwich:

I'm not interested in making any alternate versions of this mod, but you can always go download this mod manually off of the Chucklefish Forums mirror, then just delete the reticle files from the archive before installing it.
Shoopuf Jul 9, 2017 @ 8:03pm
Yeah that's what i think might is likely to be the case with Bass as well. The gunshop mod added some custom cursors for ranged weapons and i imagine that's the cause of the conflict.
Maledy  [author] Jul 9, 2017 @ 7:28pm
I really don't know what to tell you guys - I just checked the current base assets and the cursors have not changed since I made this mod.

So if you're having ANY issues, it must be because another mod is altering the base cursors, and my mod is being loaded after it and reverting the changes. That's the only thing I can think of that could POSSIBLY lead to invisible cursors, since my mod for the targeting reticles is just a glorified recolor... >.>
Shoopuf Jul 9, 2017 @ 4:08pm
Oddly i too suddenly got the missing crosshair bug although i believe for me it's because of a conflict with Lyetzi's Gunshop Mod.
Maledy  [author] Jul 4, 2017 @ 11:08pm
Kay. *Shrug*
CatgirlV3 Jul 4, 2017 @ 12:27pm
I removed this mod and the problem was fix, I have no other cursor mods other than one I used to try to fix the problem. Even before this the avali crosshair was reverting to the default.
Maledy  [author] Jul 4, 2017 @ 11:33am
@Bass.exe the Edgehog:

Sorry, but unless Chucklefish changed the "cursors.png" file yet again, or your monitor is filtering out all orange coloring (sarcasm), then there is no possible way that this mod could be the source of your problems, since I only edited a single PNG file, and nothing else.

Check other mods as the cause, it ain't this one, or at least it's impossible for it to be this mod's fault directly.

I suppose it's plausible, however unlikely, that it could be a mod clashing issue with my mod (but the odds of this are INSANELY small, unless someone else has replaced the same "cursors.png" file, or found a way to redirect which directory the game is looking for said file at in).
CatgirlV3 Jul 4, 2017 @ 9:42am
Um, I can't see my crosshairs and I think it's this mod's fault? I love these cursors but can't use them unless this is fixed.
Maledy  [author] Jun 30, 2017 @ 9:07am
I'm not mad at you or anything, I'm just being honest. n.nU
Link117 Jun 29, 2017 @ 2:38pm
ok i was just giving i idea i know that moding is hard so i put if it was possibly you could try i was ment no harm or was asking will you do this it was just a idea that i thout could help my bad
Maledy  [author] Jun 29, 2017 @ 2:20pm
@Link117

- I only know enough about JSON get by, and I know little to zero about LUA, the game's lower-level language for more complex workings.

- Some things simply cannot be changed, as they are hardcoded on the most basic level, where mods cannot touch anything. I'm not gonna spend 3 hours tracing back through code just to find out if cursors.png can be altered like that.

- I'm not very interested in Starbound at present, and have lots of other long-term projects in other spheres occupying my time at the moment. Even if I were interested in Starbound modding again, I can GUARANTEE I'd never spend the eons worth of time it would take to just ATTEMPT such a superficial, minute thing like this.

- Modders make things for themselves, not for other people, and share them because we want to. Since I am fine with having the Avali cursors on all the time, and rarely play as any other race, I have no interest in spending the time to do this.

Link117 Jun 29, 2017 @ 10:06am
you could idk if it is posible but you could try to hard code a mod that put a new option in options that lets you pick a diffrent cursor or chang its collor might take a log time to make it
Maledy  [author] Jun 25, 2017 @ 11:17pm
@Miss Newtype:

Sorry, but as I've explained on here before, there simply is no way to do that, as there is only one cursor file, and it's location and usage is hard coded. *Shrug*
Valiarah Jun 25, 2017 @ 5:17pm
I wish this was only activated when using the Avali
Maledy  [author] Jun 8, 2017 @ 2:35pm
Unless they change the file location and/or heavily edit the cursor file itself again in the future, then this mod should continue to work with any subsequent game updates without the need to be patched for them.
Rathlon Tobias Riverwind Jun 8, 2017 @ 2:32pm
I jsut didn't know I was able to use this with 1.3.
Maledy  [author] Jun 8, 2017 @ 2:29pm
@Rathlon Tobias Riverwind:

Wait, there's nothing wrong with this mod, and I cannot see why it would require an update to work with v1.3 of the game.

Was there actually a problem with the mod, or were you just "assuming" it wouldn't work...?
Maledy  [author] Jun 8, 2017 @ 2:11pm
Starbound had another update that *once again* screwed with the cursor files for no reason then?

Kool... I'll try and look into it when I have the time, but I still don't see anything in the update that would renew my interest in this game... =.=
Rathlon Tobias Riverwind Jun 8, 2017 @ 11:50am
Will this be updated to 1.3?
Cause I like this over the default look.
Maledy  [author] Dec 22, 2016 @ 10:31am
@Vikeyev:

Uh yeah I mean I suppose you could. You'd need to create and .ico file for each of the cursors you'd wanna use and then add them into a custom cursor set in the Mouse Properties. However I have no clue if Windows supports transparency for it's system cursors.
Fenryka Valkyr Dec 22, 2016 @ 7:39am
Is it posible. to use these cursors for my computer as well?
i rly like these!
Nexal Dec 12, 2016 @ 6:18pm
@Ulithium_Dragon Cool! Im excited for that. Goodluck!
Maledy  [author] Nov 20, 2016 @ 3:25pm
@24Bit:

Glad you like them. :]

If Chucklefish ever makes use of the expanded cursor list they've had since like the initial beta release then I may feel motivated enough to do the rest of them. :P
Nexal Nov 20, 2016 @ 1:38pm
Below: Ikr, Same. but i dont strictly play avali. :\
Protogen_Rhythm Sep 25, 2016 @ 7:07pm
Whoa, this looks neat! Subbed instantly, these cursors look better than vanilla ones to me, since I strictly play Avali so far.
Maledy  [author] Sep 3, 2016 @ 2:57pm
@Ethereal:

Yes it would be considered "client side". Other players wouldn't need to have it installed to play with you in multiplayer (as is the case with almost all UI/HUD mods).
Maledy  [author] Aug 23, 2016 @ 10:51pm
@[✚] Dr.Shadox:

Uh, yeah sure - go ahead.
Dr_Shadox Aug 23, 2016 @ 8:25pm
it was for know if i can rework your mod for make a glitch theme but its ok ^^
Maledy  [author] Aug 23, 2016 @ 8:19pm
@[✚] Dr.Shadox:

I have no idea what you are asking... :/
Dr_Shadox Aug 23, 2016 @ 7:28pm
Nevermind infact it should fit already since its orange (like copper).
Dr_Shadox Aug 23, 2016 @ 7:27pm
Can i see for make a Glitch one based on yours Avali plz ?
CyborgJenn Aug 19, 2016 @ 4:34pm
Cool , subscribed .
Pearl~♡ Aug 19, 2016 @ 3:55am
Personally, i like the idea of miner things being re-themed to an Avali style, with a lot of white and orange. But major things like HUD and whatnot? Nah.
Tenyoken Aug 18, 2016 @ 8:35pm
What a neat idea! Nice one. This makes me ponder the possibilty of other race inspired themes for cursors. You might have gotten the ball rolling on that one.
Maledy  [author] Aug 18, 2016 @ 6:16pm
@D3th10rd:

Thanks lol. Not sure I plan on doing a full HUD overhaul though since I still play other races as alts. The cursors are small enough that I can (mostly) just ignore them, but I wouldn't be able to stand a full on HUD replacer. :P
D3th10rd Aug 18, 2016 @ 5:37pm
And now the wait commences for an avali themes HUD and interface. The Avali take over has begun! >:D But seriously though, really nice work on these cursors.
