Skullywag - I've sent you a friend request and would like to know if I can take over this mod? It seems you've stopped working on it and I've actually updated/fixed it for B18 for my personal use. Do I have your permission to upload it to the workshop? Credit will of course be given.

I just tried out the github version of this mod.
It's quite broken as when I force one of my colonists to wear the shield, some of the pawn specific buttons go missing and I can't select anything or get my currently selected, shield bearing, drafted colonist to do anything.

also - none of those 'simpler lightweight alternatives' include the latest C# 7 code - so they are essentially worthless for working on anything but small, extremely limited projects.

technically @Thundercraft, you need a decompiler, not a compiler to "Open DLL's" (like ILSpy)
to open the -source files- and build your own, you'd want an IDE
and rimworld uses C# .net 3.5 packages, as opposed to just C++.

You need a Visual C++ compiler for that. But it's complicated. For details, the RimWorld .dll-mod tutorial [ludeon.com] helps. (Though, you may want to read my post here [ludeon.com] about issues with using MS Visual Studio. Just so you know, there are simpler, lightweight alternatives.

Oh, sorry, I didn't notice he only responded to one before. Well, thank you then. :) This is the only version of shooting enabled shields that exists outside of bigger modpacks.

Hey such a sick mod! I think i found a bug but probs just needs update or whatever, thought id post this just incase it helps.. When there is an explosion near someone with shield active, game spaz's out (pauses, and log comes up) and says this-
System.TypeLoadException: Could not load type 'RimWorld.MoteThrower' from assembly'PersonalShieldMKII'.

I did get a trader with 3 poor quality mkII shields. But that's out of several years worth of traders.
I have an issue where they can never be repaired at the vanilla bench despite having ample materials and a very skilled colonist. They can be mended with the mending mod though.
I used "Prepare Carefully" to spawn with one for each starting colonist and I love em.

I've had three exotic goods traders, but it's possible that one of my other mods messes with exotic goods traders. Would shifting this mod higher/lower in the load order help if that were the case? Instinct says higher would be better, but my intuition has been wrong about the load order several times.

You should see them rarely on exotic traders at least. Can anyone confirm they have gotten them in their game and that this is just bad luck (this game is heavy RNG remember)

Can anyone with the purple box issue get me some logs to look at (output.log in your rimworld/rimworldwin_data folder. Im having trouble reproducing the issue.

Yeah I'm having the same exact problem. After a few days my colonists just get engulfed into this purple box whenever the shields activate. I'm sure Skullywag will get to it eventually though.

Crafting them would be OP as all hell. Repairing them once you have them not so much. Im following vanilla conventions in not being able to craft shields, but the fact that they take quite a bit of punishment I decided to allow them to be repairable. Wouldnt take a lot for someone to add a small mod with a recipe to allow them to be craftable. Its like 2 minutes work.
